I have never liked themes...

So I have always been a HUGE [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] fan. I mean HUGE. I have also always loved the name [name]Hermione[/name]. It’s been top on my list since 2005ish… (That makes me feel really old now… yikes) I don’t care about there being a huge connection between [name]Hermione[/name] and HP, but now I’ve came across another problem. [name]Bellatrix[/name]. I don’t care [name]HOW[/name] terrible the character was, it’s the name I’ve fallen for. And then here comes [name]Narcissa[/name]. I thought I’d just kick that one off my list because narcissitic. But nope, it’s a freaking daffodil.

[name]Harry[/name], always been a fan. [name]Lorcan[/name] has ALWAYS been a favorite of mine! Then I do something VERY stupid and spend 2 days watching the entire series of [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name]. Now apparently [name]Lorcan[/name] TOO is a [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] name! Obviously not a famous one, but it’s on there  After finishing the series (for the hundreth time) I now am fond of Diggory and [name]Frederick[/name]. [name]Just[/name] lovely.

[name]Hermione[/name], [name]Bellatrix[/name], [name]Narcissa[/name], [name]Lorcan[/name], Diggory, [name]Frederick[/name], and [name]Harry[/name]. When I had only [name]Harry[/name] and [name]Hermione[/name] on my list, I just told myself that I’d use one and not the other. Now I have more names I love and don’t want to get rid of them  I feel like [name]Lorcan[/name] isn’t a big deal because not really anyone would know that it’s [name]Luna[/name] Lovegood’s future son. Rowling sure knows how to pick them! It’s not fair…

So now that I’ve vented, does anyone know any names that I’d probably fall for so I can get rid of some of these! I would be PERFECTLY happy naming one of my daughters [name]Narcissa[/name], so I guess my style is “cruel and freaky” acording to my family :stuck_out_tongue:

Other names that are on my list, but THANKFULLY aren’t HP related are :

Sephrenia (Found it in a book somewhere, I haven’t found a meaning but it’s still pretty.)
Megaera
Rhodaline
[name]Tallulah[/name]
[name]Echo[/name]
[name]Svetlana[/name]
[name]Ithaca[/name]
[name]Yelizaveta[/name]
Anzhelina
[name]Sage[/name]
[name]Elektra[/name]
[name]Nastassia[/name]
Catori (Spirt in N.A)
[name]Theodora[/name]

[name]Zephaniah[/name]
Pogue
[name]Gallagher[/name]
[name]Madden[/name]
Solomore (Surname)
[name]Claudius[/name]
Aleron
Riddick
[name]Hawthorne[/name]
[name]Leonid[/name]
[name]Klaus[/name]
Coinneach

I love [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name], but I’d feel waaay geeky naming all my future kids after an entire series :stuck_out_tongue:

Instead of Sephrenia what about [name]Sophronia[/name]? I really like this. I don’t know a lot of names that might fit your ideals but some on my (very long) list are:

[name]Thomasina[/name]
[name]Odessa[/name]
[name]Celestia[/name]
[name]Euphemia[/name]
[name]Ortensia[/name]
[name]Thora[/name]
Theodosia

[name]Lysander[/name]
[name]Ambrose[/name]
[name]Leopold[/name]
[name]Evander[/name]
[name]Thaddeus[/name]
[name]Solomon[/name]
[name]Steen[/name]
[name]Griffin[/name]
[name]Willoughby[/name]

FWIW I love [name]Hermione[/name].

I have a HP tattoo, I’m a huge fan, I understand your obsession. The first thing that popped into my head is [name]Tullia[/name].

Others that you might like could include [name]Eugenia[/name], [name]Henrietta[/name], [name]Ismene[/name], [name]Lilith[/name], [name]Ophelia[/name], [name]Odessa[/name], [name]Prudence[/name], [name]Priscilla[/name], Serefina, [name]Tabitha[/name], [name]Artemis[/name], [name]Caelan[/name], [name]Earnest[/name], [name]Gryphon[/name] (though probably not if you have a little [name]Harry[/name], [name]Ron[/name] or [name]Hermione[/name]), [name]Korbin[/name], [name]Maximus[/name], [name]Rupert[/name], [name]Tristan[/name] and [name]Wolfgang[/name].

[name]Tansy[/name] (as a nod to [name]Pansy[/name], as in Parkinson, without being so literal) popped into my head for you.

[name]Bellatrix[/name] was always my favorite name from the series, so I understand where you’re coming from. I also liked [name]Rowena[/name], [name]Narcissa[/name] and [name]Mafalda[/name]. I think of [name]Bellatrix[/name] as like [name]Beatrix[/name], but infinitely cooler and with a better meaning. A [name]Bellatrix[/name] might get lumped in with all the other Bellas (and unfortunately, I’m sick of the sound of [name]Bella[/name] on its own) despite it being a completely different name with a different meaning from [name]Isabella[/name]. She could also go by [name]Trixie[/name].

Instead of [name]Lorcan[/name], try: [name]Levon[/name], [name]Lachlan[/name], [name]Larson[/name], [name]Lael[/name], [name]Linus[/name]

Instead of [name]Harry[/name], try: [name]Cary[/name], [name]George[/name], [name]Henry[/name], [name]Louis[/name]

Instead of [name]Bellatrix[/name], try: [name]Bellamy[/name] for a boy?

Other random suggestions:

Girls - [name]Ione[/name], [name]Aravis[/name], [name]Rosalie[/name], [name]Desdemona[/name], [name]Isla[/name]

Boys - [name]Edmund[/name], [name]Hugo[/name], [name]Caspar[/name], [name]Julius[/name]

I am of no help to you, but I love [name]Hermione[/name]! We’re pretty set on [name]Gemma[/name] [name]Hermione[/name] as a girl name (won’t know what gender is for many months yet) but even if my daughter sways us otherwise [name]Hermione[/name] is staying in the middle. I wanted to put it in the first name position but my husband just doesn’t love it as much.

It’s sort of funny because my other huge love was [name]Fleur[/name]. Which my husband also wasn’t such a fan of. So I got a little HP vibe going on too

Me too! I really love [name]Bellatrix[/name] and [name]Narcissa[/name]. The character gave me a bit turn off, but it still pretty. So, I prefer to focus on the astronomical association rather than HP ([name]Bellatrix[/name] is a star’s name from [name]Orion[/name]).
For [name]Hermione[/name], yes it’s very HP. but it’s also the name of [name]Helen[/name] of [name]Troy[/name]'s daughter. so… another reference.

I also like Anzhelina, [name]Svetlana[/name], Itacha, [name]Echo[/name], [name]Leonid[/name], and [name]Klaus[/name].
I prefer Sophoronia than Sephrenia. Then about Megaera. [name]Do[/name] you mean Megara, like the [name]Herakles[/name]’ wife?

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Hermione[/name] too. My aunty said that if she ever had another baby that she would call it [name]Hermione[/name] and my mum would call hers [name]Polly[/name]! CUTE!

I understand loving a series… I’m a [name]Lord[/name] of the Rings fan, so top names on my list were [name]Eowyn[/name], [name]Arwen[/name], and [name]Rohan[/name]. [name]Eowyn[/name] still hangs on, but I don’t think I’ll be able to convince him of it - I was able to turn him onto [name]Willow[/name] though, so maybe!

I think that maybe if you really want to use them, why not give them as middle names? I do like themes with sib sets, as long as they aren’t super obvious. i.e, we like names that have a “y” in them, or switch out an “i” for a “y”… but we wouldn’t name all our children with names that start with a “Y” (I’m from one of those families, so I’m not bashing!). And [name]Ron[/name] [name]Howard[/name] and gave middle names to their children based on where they were conceived ([name]Bryce[/name] [name]DALLAS[/name] [name]Howard[/name]), which again, unless you know the story, it wouldn’t be super obvious. So giving it to them as middle names might be a viable option.

I love the series, our wedding is actually [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] themed, but the only name I love from the series is [name]Luna[/name], but here are some suggestions:

[name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Beatrix[/name]
[name]Anastasia[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Eulalie[/name]
[name]Naomi[/name]
Euleta
Narcissara
[name]Narcisse[/name]
[name]Narcissus[/name]
Bellona

[name]Cloud[/name]
[name]Everett[/name]
[name]Harrison[/name] - nn [name]Harry[/name]
[name]Harrold[/name] - nn [name]Harry[/name]
[name]Clovis[/name]
[name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Soloman[/name]
Antares (one of the few astrological names JK didn’t use)
[name]Leo[/name]
[name]Leon[/name]
[name]Leonardo[/name]
[name]Digby[/name]
[name]Lorant[/name]

You could go for the [name]Frederic[/name] spelling instead.

I love [name]Hermione[/name], [name]Ronald[/name], [name]Dean[/name], and [name]Seamus[/name]! I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Harrison[/name] and could see [name]Harry[/name] springing from that…  I would love to have a [name]Hermione[/name]. DH nixed it, but I keep letting him know I still like it. I would nick name her [name]Mia[/name].

[name]How[/name] about the name [name]Socorra[/name] to add to your list?

[name]Hermione[/name] is on my list for future daughters.

I think for boys you could easily use [name]Harry[/name], [name]Frederick[/name], and [name]Lorcan[/name] without most people picking up on the HP theme. You could also use some of the more not-specific-to-the-books names ([name]James[/name], [name]Charlie[/name], [name]Seamus[/name], [name]Ginny[/name], [name]Lily[/name], etc) and use the more unique obviously HP names for middle names. I would really advise against [name]Narcissa[/name] or [name]Bellatrix[/name] just because no matter how you intend them to sound they will still have very bad connotations for your kids, however [name]Hermione[/name] is such a lovely name I would say to use that regardless of the book associations(plus she as a character has a very positive image for a little girl to be connected with). Some of your other names are lovely as well so I think if you mix and match properly there are a myriad of combinations you could use that wouldn’t wind up being HP overkill. =] Other suggestions might be: [name]Seraphina[/name], [name]Saphira[/name], [name]Calliope[/name], or [name]Seren[/name], [name]Lachlan[/name], Emeric.

I don’t really have any other suggestions that haven’t already been said (loads of great ones!), but I wanted to say that I totally understand and you are awesome :). I know when the time comes to pick a name, you’ll know just the right one to pick. And, hey, you can get away with a couple if they aren’t too obviously HP. Great lists here so far!
