I have no idea where to start!

Trying to come up with a boy list is next to impossible

My husband likes:
[name]Ulysses[/name]
[name]Cassius[/name]

I think such epic tough guy names might not be great choices for us considering we are short tiny people and not cert athletic…it might just be too much irony!

I like simple- [name]John[/name] / [name]Johnny[/name]
geek-chic- [name]Sidney[/name] (which he thinks is a girl name) [name]Cecil[/name] (which he thinks is too British.) [name]Dexter[/name] (he thinks it’s too tied to the show and books)

I also like Russian names since my husband is Russian. [name]Boris[/name] would’ve been b
perfect- tough but interesting and not too out there…but [name]Boris[/name] is his first cousin! Please help!
Our daughter is [name]Leonie[/name] if that helps?

Other names I like but my husband vetoed
[name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Jack[/name] (too popular & too plain)
[name]Felix[/name] (the cat)
[name]Ira[/name]
[name]Asa[/name] (both too girly sounding & too Jewish)
[name]Liev[/name] (also too Jewish & too close to daughters name)
[name]Wallace[/name] (this he was almost into but no good nn & too long he said!)

[name]Do[/name] you like [name]Caius[/name]? Might be middle ground between your taste for gentlemanly names and his penchant for tough-guy names.

[name]Otto[/name], [name]Marcel[/name], [name]Anton[/name], [name]Emil[/name], [name]Julian[/name]?

I don’t really like that hard K sound…

I actually like the sound of [name]Cassius[/name] but my husband thinks the nickname [name]Cash[/name] is great while I think it’s kinda trashy…aside from that I think [name]Cassius[/name] nn [name]Cass[/name] could work even though I generally don’t like the K sound…

Thanks for the suggestion though! Any other ideas berries?

That really sums it up tho @maple_blythe! I like gentleman names & he likes tough guy names!

[name]Dmitri[/name] - Russian, but feels comfortable for Americans
[name]Gavril[/name] - Russian form of [name]Gabriel[/name], kind of a mix of [name]Gavin[/name] and [name]Gabriel[/name]. Cool look, unique but not too weird
[name]Leonid[/name] - Russian form of [name]Leonidas[/name], could use [name]Leo[/name], cool name!
[name]Maksim[/name] - could use Mak or [name]Max[/name], tough but not crazy

I love the name [name]Maksim[/name]! It’s my husband’s name! I would do a junior but he isn’t into it!
[name]Lev[/name]/[name]Levi[/name]/[name]Leonid[/name] are close to our daughter’s name
[name]Gavril[/name] is nms
[name]Dmitri[/name] is a possibility! No Dmitris in the family…
Thanks!

I like [name]Dmitri[/name] too. Here are some more ideas.
[name]Dominic[/name]
[name]Silas[/name]
[name]Harrison[/name]
[name]Axel[/name]
[name]Curtis[/name]
[name]Ivan[/name]
[name]Lukas[/name]
[name]Elias[/name]
[name]Wyatt[/name]
[name]Vincent[/name]
[name]Gregor[/name]
[name]Victor[/name]
[name]Angus[/name]
[name]Alexi[/name]
Nicholas
Abram

[name]How[/name] about…
[name]Desmond[/name]
[name]Linden[/name]
[name]Adrian[/name]
[name]Anders[/name]
[name]Jameson[/name]
[name]Calvin[/name]
Merrick
[name]Micah[/name]
[name]Simon[/name] (would sort of obscurely honour his father, with the “sim” part)

I love [name]Micah[/name]!

I love [name]Simon[/name] but our daughter’s mn is [name]Simone[/name]! Is that weird?

I love love [name]Axel[/name] & it’s such a great combo of our styles…but our ln has the word rose in it!!

You could start by looking at lists of names marked ‘tough’ and see what you like.

[name]Axel[/name] is kinda neat. It’s up to you if the [name]Axel[/name] [name]Rose[/name] connection bothers you.

other “tough” names:
[name]Archer[/name]
[name]Brock[/name]
[name]Dane[/name]
[name]Garrett[/name]
[name]Garrick[/name]
[name]Harley[/name]
[name]Heath[/name]
[name]Holt[/name]
[name]Jagger[/name]
[name]Knox[/name]
Kolt
Lach
[name]Lex[/name]
[name]Locke[/name]
[name]Peirce[/name]
[name]Ryder[/name]
[name]Sterling[/name]
[name]Tate[/name]
[name]Thorne[/name]
[name]Vance[/name]
[name]Wes[/name]
[name]Wolfe[/name]
[name]Zane[/name]

Regarding [name]Simon[/name]/[name]Simone[/name]…
It’s not especially weird…it would just suggest that you like very specific sounds in names.
My cousins are named [name]Caitlin[/name] [name]Meredith[/name] and [name]Maren[/name] [name]Jenny[/name] (2 sisters with “[name]Mare[/name]” sounds in their names), and nobody really ever noticed. I always thought it was a little peculiar, but both names suit them so well. It WOULD be weird if you used [name]Simone[/name] as a first name, and then [name]Simon[/name] as a first name too though!

[name]Silas[/name]
[name]Atticus[/name]
[name]Amos[/name]
[name]Miles[/name]
[name]Perseus[/name]

They aren’t necessarily “tough guy” names, but they end in s which was one common thread to all of the names your husband liked.
