I made the mistake of googling my name choice

When I googled the first name/middle name combo I had in mind for a daughter, the top results were all a notorious burlesque dancer! [name_f]Do[/name_f] I still go with the name if I really love it? If it makes a difference, the name would be [name_m]Pendleton[/name_m] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] - [name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] for short.

I would avoid it. People love googling themselves, especially as kids, and it might come as an unpleasant surprise to see the namesake.

I agree with @roseofjune people love googling & as she gets older the last thing you want is for her or any of her friends or worse school bullies to google her name & find that out.

I would avoid it. [name_m]Pendleton[/name_m] sounds like a stuffy English butler anyway.

I have a perfectly normal, pretty name and when I google it, there’s a goth porn star and a romance novelist with that name. No one has ever mentioned it to me! If anything it will hide her from actually being found on a google search, which can be a good thing. I have to do online presence checks and background checks for my job and a candidate does better when they’re not easy to find. Go for it if you really love it. Burlesque dancers are pretty cool anyway. I like [name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_u]Wren[/name_u].

Is it [name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] that is bringing up the result? I wouldn’t worry about it that much because people rarely use a nickname and middle name together. Unless you do intend to call her [name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]? In that case, yeah, I would either decide just to use [name_u]Penny[/name_u] as a nickname by itself or pick a new middle. On the other hand, if it is [name_m]Pendleton[/name_m] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] that brings up the result, I would definitely change it because that name is too unique to feel like it was just a coincidence.

I googled it too and honestly I don’t think it’s a big deal because 1) no one has heard of this other [name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] outside of googling her (she is not a famous namesake that anyone would think of, it’s just the googling that’s possibly an issue) and 2) she actually is not the only [name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] that comes up (there are TWO other normal [name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]'s on the first page of results), so she in no way has a monopoly on her name. And [name_m]Pendleton[/name_m] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] seems to be fine anyway.

I would feel free to use this name if you love it and not worry. I don’t think it’s a big deal now, and probably will be even less so 15 years from now.

Also I think it’s a darling name choice

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_m]Pendleton[/name_m]? Backwards, and you could call her [name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] anyway!

I don’t think that would be a reason to drop the name. However, I do agree with a PP that [name_m]Pendleton[/name_m] does not sound like a very good name for a baby girl anyway.

I think its up to you. You could name her [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] or [name_u]Penrose[/name_u] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]. You could still call her [name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_u]Wren[/name_u].

It’s not bad at all. The results are not horrible. And chances are it will be a very long time before anyone thinks to google her name for any reason. It will be fine!
GORGEOUS gorgeous name!

I think [name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is absolutely adorable and I wouldn’t change it. I don’t think it would be a big deal at all.

I really don’t think this is an issue. As others have said, the ‘other’ [name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is not exactly famous. You’d have to actively google [name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] to find her. And while it’s true that people do google themselves, honestly how often have you googled someone else using their full name just for fun? It’s not something I do regularly, anyway! I think the chance that one of her middle school classmates is randomly going to google ‘[name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]’ is pretty slim - if they wanted to google her at all they’d probably search for either [name_m]Pendleton[/name_m] Lastname or [name_u]Penny[/name_u] Lastname. Anyway, in 15 years I doubt the dancer [name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is still going to be active. Plus, there’s nothing wrong with being a burlesque dancer anyway! It’s not like she’s a notorious criminal or something. [name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is an adorable name ([name_m]Pendleton[/name_m] is slightly odd for a girl but I assume you are aware of that and like it anyway) so if the dancer is the only thing holding you back then go for it.

Generally speaking, I would stay away from such names. But it depends on how famous that dancer really is (I’ve never heard of her.) [name_f]Jenna[/name_f] [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] on the other hand is a combo I would def avoid because the person is quite famous.

Also a reminder to ourselves that there may be identically named strippers and dancers popping up AFTER we’ve named our kids, so this is only partially in our control to avoid.

I think if your daughter or her classmates are going to Google her name, they’re more likely to type in her first name and surname rather than her first name and middle name.

I see no problem with it

I would still go for it! I think [name_m]Pendleton[/name_m] is cool and different but in an old-fashioned cool way vs. too trendy. Funny you should mention making the mistake of googling your name - I did the same thing: First name [name_m]Ford[/name_m], last name [name_m]Keys[/name_m]. And realized the automotive correlation. Now we’re seriously struggling to decide if this is a real issue or not!
