I met a little girl around the age of 4 or 5 with the name [name_f]Bess[/name_f], what are your opinions on it ?
[name_f]Love[/name_f] the name.
I like it as a nn but would not choose it as a full name because it sounds just too much like a nn to me.
[name_f]Bess[/name_f] may always be the name of a cow to me.
It will always seem old fashioned to me. My great-grandmother’s name was [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Bessie[/name_f], so I associate it with that. It also makes me think of a cow.
One of the few nicknames I love as full names ([name_f]Bess[/name_f], [name_f]Nell[/name_f], [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], [name_f]Tess[/name_f], [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]). I think it has a lot of vintage charm. She would probably be the only [name_f]Bess[/name_f] in her classroom too!
I adore [name_f]Bess[/name_f]. It’s one of my favorite nicknames for [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]. So soft and sweet and spunky! I’d be utterly charmed to meet a little [name_f]Bess[/name_f]
I grew up with a girl named [name_f]Bess[/name_f]. It’s nice but I prefer [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Bette[/name_f], or [name_f]Libby[/name_f] as nicknames for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
My great gran was a [name_f]Bess[/name_f]. Nothing but good associations for me. I think it’s adorable on a little girl but ages well. Think [name_f]Bess[/name_f] [name_u]Parker[/name_u] -spelling bee winner…[name_f]Bess[/name_f] [name_u]Parker[/name_u], Esquire…Grandma [name_f]Bessie[/name_f].
I adore the name [name_f]Bess[/name_f]!
I think it is adorable. I bet it was a nickname though.
I think it is so sweet as a nickname for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], but I am not fond of it as a full first name.
I agree that it’s beautiful. I’d love to meet a [name_f]Bess[/name_f].
I’ve never really got the connection with the cow. Maybe I’m too much of a city girl or missed that bit of pop culture along the line.
