I met a little girl called Elfine- wdyt?

i was at a play centre at the weekend and i met a 2 year old girl called Elfine, nn Elf or [name]Elfie[/name]. Her mother said that they loved the book “cold comfort farm” by [name]Stella[/name] Gibbons and there is a very dreamy, romantic character in it. I have to admit that i read cold comfort farm years ago and had forgotten about Elfine, but she is a very sweet character. I absolutely love the name and the little Elfine i met was adorable! I’ve always loved [name]Delphine[/name] with the nn Elf, and while i’m not sure that Elfine is as usable for me, i still think its gorgeously whimsical and quite elegant at the same time. What do you berries think?

I think it has a whimsical appeal. =] You can’t get much more whimsical than an “elf” name. Lately I’ve met an [name]Elvine[/name] and an [name]Elvia[/name]. When I was very little I was sure I was going to name my first girl [name]Alvina[/name], after a character in my favorite cartoon movie, lol. Nowdays I don’t like that name at all. But Elfine is adorable and I like it, even if I probably wouldn’t use it.

To be honest, my first thought was “Did the d on the keyboard stick when they were typing up the birth certificate?”
It does have a whimsical feel, but personally it’s not a favorite.

I think it’s so sweet and sugary that it earns a place on my middles list alongside [name]Seraphina[/name], [name]Valentina[/name], and [name]Euphemie[/name].

I really like it. I have always liked the name [name]Delphine[/name] but my DH dislikes it. I think it is adorable for a little girl but I am not sure that it will wear well on a grown-up.

I really love it! Especially with the nn [name]Elfie[/name]. [name]Delphi[/name] (ne) would be my preferred choice though since the ‘Elf’ isn’t so there.

Oh it’s so cute! I love that book and that name. It’s a great alternative for [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] which I think is on the verge of becoming trendy!

It sounds like it would be a type of drug.

I love the name! As soon as I read the title I thought immediately of the book Cold [name_u]Comfort[/name_u] Farm  She is such a dreamy character!

Its sweet, although not a name I would ever use.

[name_f]Love[/name_f] the naime, not my personal pick, but it’s definitely magical.

I am not sure it would age well. It is very cute on a 2 year old but I really can’t picture an adult with that name.

I would forsee a lot of pronunciation problems. Ryhme with [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]? Or [name_f]El[/name_f]-fine? Or [name_f]El[/name_f]-feen?..

All I see (and hear) is “elf”. I’m not sure why anyone would name their child directly after a small, mischievous fairy. Personally, knowing that my children will be short turns me off to the name. I also think it’d be weird on someone that ends up being tall!

[name_f]Delphine[/name_f] would have been lovely.

I absolutely love it. [name_f]Elfie[/name_f] is a gem of a nickname.

I actually really love it. Definitely whimsical and so many cute nickname opportunities. I think it would only suit some personalities though.

I love it! I immediately thought of the book. I don’t like [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] at all but strangely I like Elfine…

Aww! Cute.

I like Elf and [name_f]Elfie[/name_f] as nns as well. I think it will age well, actually.

I think [name_f]Elfie[/name_f] is a super cute nickname, but I do not like Elfine. As an older child or adult, I think it is somewhat embarrassing because the first (and probably only) thing people are going to think of is an elf. But like I said, I do think [name_f]Elfie[/name_f] is cute. That’s why I really like [name_f]Delphine[/name_f], nn [name_f]Elfie[/name_f]. [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] is a name that can grow and mature, but also carries that awesome nn if the person wanted to be called that for their whole life.

It’s NMS but I like it better than [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]. It does vaguely remind me of elephantine. I love [name_f]Elfie[/name_f] for a nickname.
