[name_f]Iris[/name_f] - Classic but beautiful
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] - Same reasons as [name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f] - Pretty and I love the story of [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] & [name_f]Isolde[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] - Modern and beautiful

From your list I voted [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]

From your list I like:
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivana[/name_f]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Iona[/name_f]
[name_f]Irena[/name_f]
My favorite is [name_f]Irena[/name_f]. I think it flows quite nice with [name_u]Clare[/name_u] too.

One other idea is [name_f]Isis[/name_f].

I voted for [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f], which I think are super pretty and sweet. I sort of get [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f], but I like [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] much more, personally. And I would love to see [name_f]Iris[/name_f]/[name_f]Irisa[/name_f] as well, but I prefer it as a middle.

My favorite from the list is [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. My favorite is [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] but you said that is out for you.

I really like [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], but I wouldn’t be able to use it because somebody else I know already has. Poo. :frowning:
I really like the name [name_f]Iris[/name_f], too, but that wasn’t on the poll. So I guess I’ll put that here as a suggestion? On your list, I also REALLY like [name_f]Irena[/name_f].

My favorites are [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] and [name_f]Iona[/name_f], in that order.

Thank you for the responses so far everyone! [name_m]Just[/name_m] out of curiosity, how do you out there pronounce [name_f]Isolde[/name_f]?

I’ve never heard [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] said out loud, but I read it as is-[name_m]SOL[/name_m]-dee and I think that’s really pretty! I’d love to know how it’s actually said though :open_mouth:
Illyria is an I name to consider, though it seems a little ‘out there’

My votes went to [name_f]Iva[/name_f] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. [name_f]Iva[/name_f] is different and I like the sound. It sounds exotic. Despite it’s popularity [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is a pretty name. It makes me think of blue skies and puffy clouds and sunshine. Probably because it means island and I like to think about tropical islands.

[name_f]May[/name_f] I suggest my fave I name for girls:
[name_f]Ilaria[/name_f]
It’s beautiful!

My favorite I name is [name_f]Iris[/name_f], but I also like [name_f]Irene[/name_f], [name_f]Irina[/name_f], [name_f]Isolde[/name_f], and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f].

[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Iona[/name_f], and I really like [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] too. Another favourite of mine is [name_f]Ione[/name_f].

My favorites are [name_f]Isolda[/name_f]/[name_f]Isolde[/name_f] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f].

I also second [name_f]Ione[/name_f] as a suggestion, other then [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Ilsa[/name_f] i also really like Inara and [name_f]Ireland[/name_f]. [name_f]Love[/name_f] those I’s!

I voted for [name_f]Iona[/name_f] and [name_f]Irena[/name_f], but would really swoon over [name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f].

I chose [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]. My favourite “I” names are:

[name_f]Imogene[/name_f]
[name_f]India[/name_f]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]

The correct pronunciation of [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] is either ih-[name_m]SOL[/name_m]-duh or ih-ZOL-duh from what I’ve heard. I guess it’s just personal preference whether you favor the z or s sound. I like the s better, personally.

Anyway, I like [name_f]Isla[/name_f] best from your list, though I’ve always had a soft spot for [name_f]Irene[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], but I immediately think of 1) [name_f]Beyonce[/name_f]'s baby and 2) poison ivy.

I voted for [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f], and [name_f]Iona[/name_f].

[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] - a long term favourite of mine, puts me in mind of romantic cottages and antiquated, grown-over gardens.
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] - Tailored but femme, like a crisply pressed shirt. [name_f]Indie[/name_f] is a possibility for a nickname.
[name_f]Iona[/name_f] - Beautiful sound.

Other I names I like:
[name_f]Ione[/name_f] - eye-own-ee. I like the meaning, “violet” and I like the -e ending without being a nickname. It’s similar to [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] in sound but much more obscure.
[name_f]Isidora[/name_f] - I’m not fond of [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] etc. but [name_f]Isidora[/name_f] is unrelated and has such a Victorian feel. It’s like polished cabochon gemstones. It melds strong-willed [name_f]Isis[/name_f] with an almost steampunk quality.
Isidra - A Spanish contraction of [name_f]Isidora[/name_f] that scraps “[name_f]Dora[/name_f]” as a nickname and cuts it down to 3 syllables without making it tame.
[name_f]Izora[/name_f] - I don’t know if it was intended as a variant/19th C. misspelling of [name_f]Isidora[/name_f], or of [name_f]Azura[/name_f], or [name_f]Isaura[/name_f], but [name_f]Izora[/name_f] was ranked in the US from 1880 to 1912, making her an interesting obscurity.
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f] - I say it ee-ZOLD though.
[name_f]Ilana[/name_f] - Can’t use it myself, but do like it.
[name_f]Iola[/name_f] - A bit like [name_f]Isla[/name_f], but tied back to the Greek “violet” meaning, while being simpler than [name_f]Ianthe[/name_f] or [name_f]Iolanthe[/name_f]. The blurb on Nameberry for it is mean but I think it’s interesting.
Ixora - is a kind of jasmine plant. I can’t decide if it’s “name-y” or not.
[name_f]Indigo[/name_f] - another flower, this one more widely used than Ixora which as far as I know isn’t used at all. I adore wild indigos.
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] - One of the most classic of flower names, and a goddess name. [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is pretty much perfection to me, femme but not frilly, lots of history, and little girls can enjoy the rainbow aspect but I no trouble picturing an [name_f]Iris[/name_f] as a grown woman of strength.

I’m planning to use an I name myself, can you tell I’ve been looking through them? lol. Best of luck. And let me know if you turn up more interesting ones!

@stripedsocks: wow you have really done your homework! Unfortunately a lot of those beautiful names you listed would be instantly rejected by my husband. I showed him the poll results and he sighed and said “I guess ivy is the best”… Much less enthusiastically than before. sigh

However, these suggestions and responses are fantastic. Thank you all again!
