'I' Names

Recently I’ve posted several forums on some of these names. I really into I names for some reason at the moment, so just tell me what you think…

Thanks

[name]Indigo[/name] nn [name]Indi[/name]: [name]Just[/name] pretty I guess.
[name]Ireland[/name] nn [name]Isla[/name]: [name]One[/name] of my faves at the moment.
[name]Ianthe[/name]: WDYT?
[name]Immy[/name]: I’ve accepted [name]Imelda[/name] for an option as a first name, because I only think of [name]Immy[/name] as a nickname. But I think [name]Imelda[/name] seems a bit too ‘nice’ for my taste. I really like DIFFERENT, more than unique names, just how I like it.
[name]Indiana[/name]: its starting to remind of [name]Indiana[/name] [name]Jones[/name] day by day :frowning:
[name]Ingrid[/name]: [name]LOVE[/name]!!

BTW, someone was asking in my [name]Immy[/name] thread about if I had picked a middle name to go with [name]Immy[/name]'s full name ( I still haven’t decided yet on that one.) I was either going to use [name]Monday[/name] [name]Sloane[/name] with the nickname [name]Immy[/name] or just have it as a middle name for a name that couldn’t have a nn aka [name]Astrid[/name] [name]Immy[/name], or something.

Any more suggestions? They don’t necessarily have to be ‘I’ names.

I love [name]Ingrid[/name]!
I am not sure if it was nameberry, or my hometown birth announcements, but listed among the Addisyns, Jaxsons, Olivias, Alivias, there was little [name]Ingrid[/name]. It was so refreshing. I like [name]Ianthe[/name] from your list too. As for the others, I like the idea of word/place names- I guess I just wouldn’t actually use them. ([name]Even[/name] though I love [name]Geneva[/name] and [name]Genoa[/name]) But that is my personal preference. [name]Ireland[/name] has a really nice sound to it

[name]Indigo[/name] nn [name]Indi[/name]: Nice colour, nice flower, pretty botanical name. Much nicer than [name]Indiana[/name].

[name]Ireland[/name] nn [name]Isla[/name]: I don’t get how you get [name]Isla[/name] from [name]Ireland[/name]. I don’t mind [name]Isla[/name] but I don’t hear much in common with [name]Ireland[/name]. I’d seperate these two and judge them individually. I kind of like each individually though.

[name]Ianthe[/name]: I like it, it doesn’t work with my own last name but its nice.

[name]Immy[/name]: Cute. But not really “enough” feeling for a whole name. But not keen on [name]Imelda[/name].

[name]Indiana[/name]: [name]Indiana[/name] [name]Jones[/name] would be the good side. Without that, just a flat midwestern state full of corn.

[name]Ingrid[/name]: Not particularly fond, prefer [name]Astrid[/name] or [name]Ines[/name].

Other ideas:
[name]Iola[/name] (eye-oh-lah) means violet. It’s considered desperately old-fashioned and nobody (but me, apparently) likes it, but I think its simple enough to say and an interesting alternative to [name]Isla[/name].
[name]Ines[/name] - I like this. It feels trim but not manly.
[name]Iris[/name] - Rainbows goddess, pretty flower, old fashioned but not crusty.
[name]Ivy[/name] - Simple, fresh, green.
[name]Imogenia[/name] - For when [name]Imogen[/name] is too normal.
Immanuella - Like [name]Emmanuelle[/name], not a short-and-simple name, but it is beautiful and underused.
[name]Iolantha[/name]/[name]Iolanthe[/name] (yo-lan-tha and yo-lan-thee) and [name]Iolanda[/name] (yo-lan-da) - This is [name]Yolanda[/name]'s original form. I quite like it, but it isn’t straight-forward when read and my husband is convinced its too difficult to be used where we are.

I like [name]Ingrid[/name] and [name]Astrid[/name], prefer [name]Isla[/name] to [name]Ireland[/name]. [name]Ianthe[/name] is very cool. [name]How[/name] about Igraine - mother of [name]King[/name] [name]Arthur[/name] or [name]Isolde[/name] from [name]Tristan[/name] and [name]Isolde[/name]? There’s also Illiad, [name]Iver[/name], [name]Ivy[/name], [name]Iris[/name], [name]Isis[/name] and [name]Ivory[/name].

[name]Indigo[/name] nn [name]Indi[/name]: I think this is a different, stylish but feminine names and [name]Indi[/name] is adorable!
[name]Ireland[/name] nn [name]Isla[/name]: I prefer [name]Isla[/name] over [name]Ireland[/name] and think it could be used on it’s own.
[name]Ianthe[/name]: Not a big fan.
[name]Immy[/name]: I like [name]Immy[/name] as a nickname - so cute! [name]Imelda[/name] is alright, but some other choices could be: [name]Imogen[/name], [name]Imajica[/name], [name]Imara[/name], [name]Nima[/name]
[name]Indiana[/name]: Too… weird for me? It just doesn’t sound right but [name]India[/name] is cool.
[name]Ingrid[/name]: I like [name]Ingrid[/name] a lot, it’s fresh but classic at the same time and is so awesome to me.

Some other ‘I’ names - my faves have a star next to them:

[name]Ivy[/name]
[name]Iris[/name]
[name]Isis[/name]*
[name]Inez[/name]*
[name]Isadora[/name]
[name]Infinity[/name]
[name]Isaura[/name]
Immanuella

My favorites are [name]Ida[/name], [name]Iduna[/name], [name]Idony[/name], [name]Ilsa[/name], [name]Ilma[/name], [name]Isadora[/name], [name]Imelda[/name], [name]Inez[/name], [name]Irati[/name] and [name]Ismene[/name].

As for [name]Iolanthe[/name]/[name]Iolanda[/name], it’s probably better to use [name]Yolanda[/name] for official purposes (or just use [name]Iolanthe[/name] as a middle name if you’re attached to the I spelling) because it might get old to correct people who pronounce the “[name]Io[/name]” like the first two syllables of Iowa. I picture [name]Iolanthe[/name] getting butchered as EYE-oh-l[short a]nth constantly.

Thank you for all your replies! Keep them coming!!

Recently, my favorite I name is the absolutely simple [name]Io[/name]. Not sure why, but I keep coming back to that.

[name]Indigo[/name] nn [name]Indi[/name]: I don’t mind this
[name]Ireland[/name] nn [name]Isla[/name]: meh, not a favorite but it’s okay
[name]Ianthe[/name]: this one always feels like an unfinished word to me, like it should be Dianthem or something
[name]Immy[/name] ([name]Imelda[/name]) - I’m not too fond of [name]Imelda[/name] (gives me an “I’m melting” sorta of moment) If you want really different I’m guessing [name]Imogen[/name] is off your list. Immanuela, [name]Olympia[/name], [name]Philomena[/name], Imery, [name]Ximena[/name]

I also know someone named [name]Naima[/name], not sure if that’s a cultural name or a variant but it suits her very well.

[name]Indiana[/name] - I’ve never heard of this for a girl.
[name]Ingrid[/name] - I adore this one as well. It’s just beautiful.

I also like [name]Isadora[/name] a lot
