I was wondering if you could help me, my character needs a name that has the “o” sound, like the second O in Oreo. Where the O says it’s name. I don’t like popular or trendy names or names that seem like they are going to be popular. I am extremely open to weird names. I don’t mind names that aren’t pronounced the way they look and it can’t be 8, 5, or 9 letters long. A Female name with history as something else other than a name maybe. And definitely not a fruit name or virtue name. nothing ending in en, in, n, or o. And nothing with double L’s. I know this is specific but I really need your help. Nothing considered classic, like [name]Alice[/name] or [name]Beatrice[/name]. Or too trendy sounding, like [name]Marlo[/name]. So far, I like [name]Opal[/name], but feel like it’s too delicate for the quick-of-wit, intelligent, mysterious, clever, devious, main character.
It can begin with an O, not preferred though. It just needs the sound of the O saying it’s name. The one’s you suggested don’t have the right sound. [name]Orla[/name] and [name]Oriel[/name]'s first sound is Or-, [name]Olympia[/name], however pretty, starts with the sound of Uh- (at least the I say it, Uh-limp-pee-uh). I know this is a lot of specifics, but I would love to find the perfect name for her. If it helps, the character’s brother’s name is [name]Ambrose[/name]. Maybe a map name would work? I do like [name]Olympia[/name], however, maybe I’ll use it as someone else’s name.
Thank you gals/guys! thanks for your patience too.
[name]Ramona[/name]- already using for another character!
[name]Mona[/name]-too similar to [name]Ramona[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name]- I do like it, however I already used [name]Josefine[/name] and it's quite similar.
[name]Eloise[/name]-too associated with the popular book series
[name]Elodie[/name]- too sweet
[name]Aloysia[/name]- I really like this however the O has the wrong sound. [name]Ah[/name]-loy-see-uh.
[name]Bardot[/name]- I just see bar and dot.
[name]Boheme[/name]- I really like this one! A little Island-y though?
[name]Calliope[/name]-from myth, I need one w/o too much associated w/ it.
[name]Caroline[/name]- too norm.
[name]Clover[/name]-used in hungar games. I don't character messing w/ my character.
[name]Imogen[/name]- too British-linked and ends in n
[name]Odette[/name]- I like this, but the character has tons of aspirations and zest for life. This is a very “weighty” name.
[name]Odelia[/name]- sorry, I think of a [name]Deli[/name] if said Oh-[name]Dell[/name]-ee-uh, or [name]Delia[/name] w/ an O in front of it if said Oh-deal-ee-uh.
Thanks for your perseverance. Keep going!
A name that’s quirky w/o being heavily promoted on sites. A name with a great meaning. Like [name]Alma[/name] means soul, but doesn’t fit the requirements as far as sound goes.
[name]Olive[/name], [name]Olga[/name], [name]Ottilie[/name], [name]Odile[/name], [name]Oona[/name], [name]Odessa[/name], [name]Octavia[/name] are some of the other o-names that came to mind. I’m not sure if they have the right sound for you though.
