I need a name for my deceased character!

Thank you - I have chosen Summer for the mother, and for the daughter, Heather seemed like a nice choice.

I am also now thinking of a whole family story, which includes Heather and Summer, just with siblings and a step-mum and a dad. Any ideas for firsts / middles?

I’m writing a story about a 10 / 11 year old girl whose mother has passed away.

Her mother had beautiful greeny turquoise eyes, very pale skin and golden shades of long, wavy hair. I want a name that is sweet and very beautiful, one that you might give to a little adorable girl. I want it to be this way because her mother died quite young, at about the age of 28, and in her daughter’s eyes, she was the most amazing person ever, so I also want an amazing name too

I think she was quite a natural person, so maybe a natural name could be nice? I love little names, but I’d like a longer sounding name. For example, I don’t want a name you can say quickly, like Zoe, or Chloe… more like Amber, if you get what I mean? If you have suggestions for middles, let me know!

Some names I really like for her are the following:

[name_f]Violet[/name_f] (Vi-o-let instead of Vi - let)
Amber
Astrid
Evelyn
Hazel

I like [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] or [name_f]Amber[/name_f], [name_f]Amber[/name_f] especially seems like a very mom-type name to me! I think that a lot of your readers would be pronouncing [name_f]Vi[/name_f]-o-let as [name_f]Vi[/name_f]-let in their heads so that one’s difficult–plus it reminds me of violent, which isn’t something that I mind normally but I think for your purpose isn’t great. [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] & [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] just don’t seem to go in my opinion.

What about:
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u], [name_u]June[/name_u], [name_f]Junia[/name_f] or [name_f]Juno[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_f]Zinnia[/name_f]
[name_f]Azalea[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] (I especially like this one, it seems kind of romantic and lilting, and [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] seems like a mom type name to me)
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Acacia[/name_f] ([name_f]Acacia[/name_f] trees represent resurrection & rebirth which might be kind of an interesting concept to veil in your story as she remembers her mom)
[name_f]Sunniva[/name_f]
[name_f]Sunshine[/name_f] (a little out there but it would work, especially if her parents were hippies or if she has a more out there personality)
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f]
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Easter[/name_f] (means ‘where the sun rises’, a bit out there)
[name_f]Sunniva[/name_f] (“sun gift”)
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Solange[/name_f] (“angel of the sun”)
[name_f]Summer[/name_f]
[name_u]Piper[/name_u]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] (“she who brings happiness,” you could call her [name_f]Bea[/name_f], [name_f]Bea[/name_f] or [name_f]Trixie[/name_f])
[name_f]Blythe[/name_f] (“happy, carefree”)
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] (“fortunate, happy”)
[name_f]Hani[/name_f] (“joyful”)
[name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Winifred[/name_f] (“peace and joy”, you could call her [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] or [name_u]Freddie[/name_u])
[name_f]Meadow[/name_f]
[name_f]May[/name_f]
[name_f]Layla[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f]

Thank you for the suggestions! You and someone else both suggested [name_f]Summer[/name_f], as did the name finder, so I have chosen that for the mum, and for the daughter, we both thought [name_f]Heather[/name_f] was a pretty name, that has a kind of connection to [name_f]Summer[/name_f].

I am also now thinking of a whole family story, which might include [name_f]Heather[/name_f] and [name_f]Summer[/name_f], possibly, just with siblings and a step-mum and a dad. Any ideas?
