I Need Berries Opinion Please...

[name]Hi[/name] Berries,

Hopefully, in the near future, I will be starting the process of adoption. If given a name already, I would consider incorporating the name their heart mom have blessed them with.

However, I was wondering if you can tell me what do you think about the names: [name]Liliana[/name] [name]Rajani[/name] for a girl and [name]Tobiah[/name] [name]Ravi[/name] for a boy. My last name is 3-syllables long and starts with a ‘W’. [name]Do[/name] you think these names flow well with their middle name and a possible future sibset? Considering I would not be able to choose the gender of my baby if I was carrying them myself, I would like to have at least one name of each gender just in case.

I am interested in all kinds of name, yet, I would like inputs on elegant and sophisticated sounding first names with a hint of exotic for a middle names.

Insight: My grandmother has 5 children + 2 angel babies who middle name all start with D. My mom has three girls who middle name start with L. I would like to keep up with that little tradition, but I am open to other connections, such as mythology, exotic, origin, etc.

Other names that I have considered, but are moving down my list are: Girls-- [name]Chloe[/name] [name]Sage[/name] and [name]Cadence[/name] [name]Aurora[/name] ~ Boys-- [name]Chandler[/name] [name]Phoenix[/name] and [name]Courtland[/name] Arion. It would have been [name]Orion[/name], but his initials would have been C.O.W.

I originally thought about the name [name]Tobias[/name], but I guess after looking at it to long I kept seeing To bias, I am not too fund of unique spellings since that has been played out with my six nieces, yet [name]Tobiah[/name] is the closest to what I like. I am still looking for more boy name options. I am just stomped right now.

I apologize if my post is all over the place, its my first time posting a new thread and I am just to get all my ideas out in one go. If you have other ideas/comments, please feel free to let me know.

Thank you for your patience and input. I am looking forward to reading what you have to say (type).

[name]Liliana[/name] sounds really pretty, although a bit frilly. It also sounds Latino to me. Other ideas: [name]Lily[/name], [name]Lucia[/name]
[name]Tobiah[/name] may have to keep telling everyone, “No, it’s not [name]Tobias[/name], it’s [name]Tobiah[/name].” Other than that, it’s nice. And sounds biblical. Similiar names would be [name]Isaiah[/name] and [name]Micah[/name].
[name]Rajani[/name] sounds [name]Indian[/name]. [name]Ravi[/name] again sounds [name]Indian[/name]. If you want to give that impression, go ahead.

Thanks for responding jame1881. I thought [name]Liliana[/name] sounded Latino as well, but I have read previous [name]Liliana[/name] feeds and some have suggested it is not that heavy. Yes, [name]Rajani[/name] and [name]Ravi[/name] are [name]Indian[/name]-based names. I just love the flow of it and the meaning of each. I also had that thought about [name]Tobiah[/name], I have been second guessing it for awhile, and was hoping for more input from Berries. I already have a [name]Isaiah[/name] in my family, and at one point [name]Micah[/name] was on my list. Recently, I fell in awe of the nickname [name]Toby[/name]/[name]Tobi[/name], but not necessarily the other alternates that may get be there like [name]Tobin[/name].

Can anyone else help with this feed. I don’t pinch. [name]Pinky[/name] promise!

[name]Lilianna[/name] is very frilly but I know about a dozen of them so I see the appeal. You might consider [name]Lila[/name] which is [name]Indian[/name] and means playful as well as being Arabic for night. [name]Rajani[/name] might sound better with a fn that sounds closer in ethnicity. Others would be Lucianna, [name]Oceana[/name], [name]Arabella[/name], [name]Noelle[/name], [name]Annabelle[/name],[name]Natalia[/name], [name]Tatiana[/name], [name]Victoria[/name], [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Georgiana[/name], [name]Alessandra[/name], [name]Alessia[/name], [name]Serena[/name], [name]Serafina[/name], [name]Francesca[/name], and even [name]India[/name]. [name]Chloe[/name] and [name]Cadence[/name] are cute but seem trendy and overused. Their mns are great though.

[name]Tobiah[/name] [name]Ravi[/name] sounds mismatched to me since [name]Tobiah[/name] sounds very biblical and [name]Ravi[/name] is very [name]Indian[/name]. Maybe find a less [name]Indian[/name] sounding [name]Indian[/name] name, like Kartik?
Or a more exotic sounding boys name like [name]Leonardo[/name] ([name]Leo[/name]), [name]Elijah[/name], [name]Asa[/name], [name]Jeremiah[/name], [name]Nathaniel[/name], [name]Caleb[/name], and [name]Jonah[/name]. I think you could get away with [name]Theodore[/name] nn [name]Toby[/name]. If you like [name]Toby[/name] do you like the name [name]Colby[/name] with the full name [name]Colton[/name]? [name]Toby[/name] works fine on its own but not with the mn [name]Ravi[/name]

Middle name suggestions:
boys: [name]Amar[/name], [name]Vijay[/name], Deo, [name]Hari[/name], [name]Jai[/name]/[name]Jay[/name], Kalyan, Pranay, [name]Raj[/name], [name]Ram[/name], Prem, Chander, [name]Kama[/name], Yash- all [name]Indian[/name] with pretty good meanings
girls- [name]Devi[/name], [name]Veda[/name], Pavarti, [name]Asha[/name], [name]Arya[/name], [name]Ila[/name], Kaur (means princess), [name]Lakshmi[/name], [name]Maya[/name], [name]Lina[/name]- again all [name]Indian[/name] meanings all good.

I would suggest looking at Arabic or Latin names for exotic names, or maybe even Japanese? Good luck!

I’m so excited to see another prospective adoptive mommy on here! I’m looking toward that in a few years, too.

I really love both of your choices–[name]Liliana[/name] and [name]Tobiah[/name] both have spunk and sweetness, and I think they work really well together. I like the combos, as well. I also love the suggestion of [name]Tobin[/name], I think [name]Liliana[/name] and [name]Tobin[/name] work together even better!

With [name]Liliana[/name] and [name]Tobiah[/name]/[name]Tobin[/name], I would think something a bit Hebrew (like [name]Ezra[/name], [name]Ezekiel[/name], [name]Jonah[/name], [name]Jude[/name]/[name]Judah[/name], [name]Isaiah[/name], etc.) for boys, and something very sweet, a bit frilly, and very in-style for girls (all I can think of is my own favorites here, lol, mainly because I think they fit so well with [name]Liliana[/name]! [name]Isabelle[/name], [name]Violet[/name], [name]Ariana[/name]/[name]Arianne[/name]/[name]Arielle[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Eve[/name], [name]Serena[/name], [name]Sophie[/name], etc. are my thoughts…).

Good luck!

Thanks for the help so far Berries. I was really excited to read your ideas. Honestly, I am not completely set up on these names, yet, they are still the top for me. Maybe I should also state that I have no connection to [name]Indian[/name] ancestry, I just adore diverse and cultural names with a twist of classic, sophistication/elegance. Not necessarily leaning toward biblical names. If I find a certain appeal, I do not mind weighing my options. I have seen so many great names, I just thought Berries can help me narrow things now to help me get on the right track toward names I love.

@violetgray: I have a soft-spot for [name]Colton[/name]. I love the name but it will work against my last name. I loved the fact that Co-was the first two initials of my first name; [name]Le[/name]: from my Middle; but, unfortunately ton: is part of my last. Lol

@ashthedreamer: Yay, another soon-to-be adoptive mommy. Excited, since you are the only one I have seen so far that has mentioned adoption. If I am not prying to much, are you planning to adopt locally or internationally. I am hoping to adopt locally.

My husband and I are planning to adopt our children as well, but won’t begin the process for about 2 years (we’re both just beginning graduate school). It’s always so exciting to see other people who are interested in adoption. We’re planning on domestic adoption, and infant adoption is our preferred age.

[name]Liliana[/name] is pretty, but a little too frilly for my tastes. I much prefer [name]Lily[/name] or [name]Lillian[/name]. [name]Tobiah[/name] is cool, but I don’t like the nickname [name]Toby[/name].

For using ethnic/diverse names, I would feel uncomfortable using an extremely distinct ethnic name for a child who has no ties to that culture. I know some names blur the lines ([name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Aidan[/name], [name]Cruz[/name]), but I feel like it has taken some time to get there. That’s maybe just me, though,

Good luck on your adoption process!

I love [name]Liliana[/name], it has numerous nn [name]Lily[/name]/[name]Ana[/name]/[name]Annie[/name]/[name]Lila[/name]… and [name]Aurora[/name] nn [name]Rory[/name] so cute

I do like [name]Tobiah[/name] and [name]Toby[/name] is very cute!!

Good luck on the adoption

Well, I noticed that you plan to adopt locally, but before I knew that I assumed your possible baby would be from another country because of the middle names. Not that it’s a bad thing, just an observation. I’m all for exotic names. And you did say you were interested in exotic and mythological names, so my first thought was that [name]Liliana[/name] and [name]Tobiah[/name], along with your other first name options, don’t sound very exotic. However, your middle name options ([name]Aurora[/name], [name]Orion[/name], [name]Rajani[/name], [name]Ravi[/name], [name]Sage[/name] & [name]Phoenix[/name]) are exotic and/or mythological. I like all your choices so far, but my personal preference would be [name]Aurora[/name] and [name]Orion[/name] as first names, and I would prefer [name]Tobias[/name] instead of [name]Tobiah[/name].

Congratulations on your future adopted son or daughter! You have great naming taste and it is almost impossible to decide between them all except that I would still spell [name]Orion[/name] as such even if it has to move to the first name spot.

[name]Liliana[/name] and [name]Tobiah[/name] are great as a sibset - perfect, beautiful.

[name]Chloe[/name] [name]Sage[/name] and [name]Cadence[/name] [name]Aurora[/name] are both beautiful choices I love the combos. I think that the ‘berries’ will consider [name]Chloe[/name] too popular and [name]Cadence[/name] not enough ‘on trend’ but all that aside they are great choices.

[name]Chandler[/name] [name]Phoenix[/name] and [name]Courtland[/name] Arion I love the name of [name]Chandler[/name] it is very handsome a great choice, however I do not like [name]Phoenix[/name] it is a little dated now and while I see that you have a theme going I don’t like this choice. You may like [name]Chandler[/name] [name]Lane[/name], [name]Chandler[/name] [name]Elliott[/name], [name]Chandler[/name] [name]Felix[/name].

[name]Courtland[/name] Arion I am not that fond of this combo. I would prefer [name]Orion[/name] [name]Courtland[/name] or [name]Remington[/name] [name]Courtland[/name] nn [name]Remy[/name]. (Sorry not keeping the C theme for first name going).

Also [name]Charlton[/name] [name]Leo[/name], [name]Charlton[/name] [name]Maxwell[/name], [name]Charlton[/name] Xenon (sorry too ‘n’ heavy), [name]Charlton[/name] [name]Samuel[/name].

rollo

There are a bunch on here, there are actually a lot of families represented on here who would like to do a combination of both adopted and biological children, but there are only a few who want to do only adoption, especially those who are choosing adoption when they could have had biological children of their own (which happens to be me. haha.). I’m not sure yet, I know for sure that I’d like to do infant adoption in the US for my first child, I just want to be able to experience as much of my first child’s life as possible, but after that I think I’d be more open to other methods, as well. I would really like to adopt from somewhere in Eastern Europe/[name]Russia[/name] if at all possible, as well. I’m still at least three years off, so I do have a bit of time, and I’m more concerned about getting a “real” job, as I’ve just graduated college. I kind of need to do that before I can worry about bringing a child into my life in such a wonderful way.

Good luck with your adoption! Are you already into the process, then?

@[name]Rollo[/name]. Thank you.

I pushed [name]Chloe[/name] back because it was getting to popular and I choose that name before I became and Obsessed [name]Berry[/name], lol. I like the [name]Chandler[/name] [name]Felix[/name] combo as well. I wanted to honor my elder sister and the first 5 letters of [name]Chandler[/name] are part of her name and for [name]Courtland[/name] the first 5 letters are part of my name. Honestly, ever time I see someone mention [name]Chandler[/name] they refer to “Friends” and it kind of annoy me, so I have put that to the side. The more I am on NameBerry the more names I have found that I like, which are not so popular or a bit generic for my taste.

No, not yet, I am hoping to start before the year is over with. So far, the information meetings have not been convenient, time wise. I just need to get to one and hopefully, the ball will start rolling.

I will hopefully have my own bioligiacal children, however, I am focused on adoption.
