Hey everyone! I am new to posting on the boards, though not new to the site in general.
We are currently expecting baby number #4 and I have a couple fave boys names but there are [name_m]ZERO[/name_m] girl names that feel right and I could totally use some fresh suggestions! Meanings are very important to me, and this baby feel like a miracle after two miscarriages last year and such a gap between it and our youngest (6 years).
Our other children: [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] [name_m]Allen[/name_m], [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m], and [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Greer[/name_f]
I would prefer a non-Biblical name and one that IS NOT 2 syl. ending in A (which seems to be all that I even do like). I am pretty open to names and can go quirky and different. I don’t have a set style I do like, but I [name_f]DO[/name_f] NOT like anything that popular. Ten years ago, I didn’t know any Gabriels. Also, if it’s a long name, I like nicknames.
thanks so much for any help!
Also!! Our last name is prn. liv-uh-see I had really liked [name_f]Olive[/name_f] but someone told me it was awful with our last name.
Maybe you’ll like a couple of these? I don’t think any are incredibly popular and you can find the meanings of most on Nameberry (I’m not sure if all of them will hyperlink.)
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] [name_m]Allen[/name_m], [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m], [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Greer[/name_f], and sister:
Notes: non biblical, not two sylls, no a ending. Surname is liv.uh.see.
I agree that [name_f]Olive[/name_f] doesn’t sound nice with your surname, which is a shame because it’s such a sweet little name. Here are some other ideas:
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]- It’s strong and feminine. Meaning: youthful
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]- Very sweet. I also love the alliteration between it and your surname. Meaning: light (a nice connection to big sister [name_f]Stella[/name_f])
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]- Spunky! Meaning: bright, shining one (another nod to [name_f]Stella[/name_f])
[name_f]Miriam[/name_f]- One of my favorite names. Meaning: wished for child
[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]- It’s long and lilting and lovely. Meaning: gift of God
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]-- [name_f]Every[/name_f] once in a while when I say it I hear violent…It’s weird I know but it does bother me.
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]-- I worry about [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] liv-uh-see sounding too repitive
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]-- It’s really cute but for some reason I can’t get 100% on board with it
[name_f]Lark[/name_f]-- really like…it’s different and unique, but not quite feminine enough
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]-- I think this is super pretty, but do worry that the feel of it makes [name_f]Stella[/name_f] stand out in a weird way in my sib set?
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]-- Hubby isn’t very keen on this as a first name, but it’s my fave middle name
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]-- sweet, but not in love with [name_f]Gen[/name_f] as a nickname
[name_f]Elinor[/name_f]/[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]-- Looove these…but not huge on the [name_f]El[/name_f] sound as [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is called [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Bella[/name_f] about 80% of the time.
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]/[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]-- I loooooove [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]. This is probably my current favorite, but in our little church there is a little [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] already and I know people are weird about “name stealing” and things so I have been avoiding names of friends and people I know.
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]-- [name_u]Love[/name_u] and I think it fits well with my other kids names, but not sure it’s different enough for what I want to go with for our last? On the fence with this one
[name_f]Carys[/name_f]-- really pretty…but I have a [name_m]SIL[/name_m] [name_f]Cari[/name_f] and they feel too close to me?
[name_f]Edith[/name_f]-- Sweet and different but I’m a big Downton fan and although [name_f]Edith[/name_f] isn’t awful the association does bother me a little. She’s just so…meh…
[name_f]Francesca[/name_f]-- Pretty…not sure if I could avoid [name_f]Franny[/name_f] though and not sure how I feel about it.
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]- Very pretty, but my BFF is [name_u]Julie[/name_u] and so I would probably only use this a middle name
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]- See…I always kinda though [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Liv[/name_f]-uh-see didn’t work well. Hubby didn’t like the way they sounded together
[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]- This is actually one of my short list names at the moment because we talked about using [name_f]Thea[/name_f], but I wanted to avoid the 2 syl a thing. [name_f]My[/name_f] gma was [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]. But [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] isn’t my fave. Also thought about [name_f]Theadora[/name_f]…but it feels so [name_m]Wizard[/name_m] of [name_m]Oz[/name_m]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]- This is really pretty…but it’s very long and the nicknames aren’t obvious…I can’t think of one at the moment. [name_f]My[/name_f] family loves nn’s…which is annoying at times, but something I have to think about.
[name_f]Naomi[/name_f] – I actually really like this one, but won’t use Biblical only because people point out that [name_f]Stella[/name_f] isn’t biblical all the time and then she would really stand out
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] – really like this, but worry she would be lost in a see of [name_f]Maddy[/name_f]'s
Ok, sorry for any repeats here. With [name_f]Stella[/name_f], I like:
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_f]Lola[/name_f] (Sorry, I know it’s 2 syl and ends with a)
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
[name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
Hmm… I can see why [name_f]Olive[/name_f] might not work with your surname but I do love it with your other children’s names. I haven’t read the suggestions so sorry for any repeats…
Okay, so it sounds like you like things in the style of [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_f]Elinor[/name_f], [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], and [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]. I don’t think that [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] takes away from [name_f]Stella[/name_f], especially if you call her [name_f]Evie[/name_f] or some other nickname and I think that [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] is really beautiful and classic. Here are some suggestions based on your faves… (Sorry for repeats)
