So here’s the problem:
I need vintage names for a story that I am writing. It’s a terrible plot so far, but I need both girl and boy names.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] think [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m]
So on my list now is:
[name_f]Dymphna[/name_f] - means poetess, I like the way it looks, not the way it sounds. [name_m]Leander[/name_m] - I think it’s splendid and perfect. [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] - /: [name_f]Maelys[/name_f] - kind of on the ‘over-doing-it’ type of name. [name_f]Emmaline[/name_f] - love it. [name_f]Prudence[/name_f] - also love it. and [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] - gives off that vintage vibe I’m looking for, it just seems too common though.
I would love your opinion and any other names you think are perfect.
Thank you!
I’m all too familiar with that struggle. What I usually do is figure out approximately what time period/decade it’s set it in and then I use this website to see what names were popular then. They have data from 2010-1880 for both boys and girls, although it’s all from the U.S. I also use it for general name inspiration. I don’t have any specific name’s, but I hope this helps!
I like the names on your list, especially [name_m]Leander[/name_m]!
George, [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Leonard[/name_m], [name_m]Walter[/name_m], [name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_f]Alta[/name_f], [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Eunice[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f]
