I need serious help finalizing my list to give to dh

So I’ve posted before that my dh agreed to let me name the next baby. I’m supposed to give him a list of 10 girls names and 10 boys names, he’ll cross off 5 from each of my list, and I can pick any name I want from the remaining list.

I need help narrowing down my lists to just 10 names which is harder than it seems especially since my names are all over style wise. I would really appreciate any feedback and opinions on the lists so that I can choose just 10 for each. Which names would you eliminate from each? Why? Provide honest feedback.

Each of my extensive lists are below in alphabetical order. Sibling is [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] nn [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. I’ll update the list below as I remove names from it.

So last night I gave my husband my narrowed down lists which had more than 10 names on it and he crossed off half the list which leaves me with the following names to choose from.

For girls, I would cross off [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_u]Avery[/name_u], [name_u]Cameron[/name_u], [name_u]Hayden[/name_u], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_u]Parker[/name_u], [name_u]Reese[/name_u], [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] because I don’t think they sound good with [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] as a sibset.

The boys are a little harder to narrow down, but I think you should eliminate [name_m]Anderson[/name_m] and [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] for sounding too similar to [name_m]Jackson[/name_m].

I would eliminate from the girls:

  • [name_u]Cameron[/name_u], [name_u]Parker[/name_u], [name_u]Hayden[/name_u], [name_u]Sloan[/name_u], [name_u]Reese[/name_u] <- These all either are or sound like the surname trend that I just don’t like at all. I don’t want to be mean but they just sound kind of trashy in my personal opinion. If you really like them I’m sorry I just do not.
  • Aria, Violet, and Claire are just some names I don’t like. Aria just seems very insubstantial and weak to me.

I would Eliminate from your boys list:

  • Anderson, Smith, Archer, Asher, Hudson, Brady, Davis, Beckett - Again with the last name/occupation name I’m just not into! Once again find it very unappealing.
  • Noah, Eli, Theo, Leo, Isaac I just don’t like these-- kind of short and insubstantial again.

If we call [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] by his nick name [name_m]Jack[/name_m] 99% of the time does [name_u]Hudson[/name_u], which I’m a huge fan of, still clash?

The only time we call [name_m]Jack[/name_m] by his full name is when we’re making appointments or doing anything that requires his legal name.

I asked for honest opinions and feedback so there’s no being mean here. We just have different styles as I like short names and surnames as first names. No hard feelings.

Would you use a nickname for [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] too? I think it would be fine if your oldest is better known as [name_m]Jack[/name_m].

I can’t think of any nicknames for [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] that we would use.

[name_m]Jack[/name_m] is always called by [name_m]Jack[/name_m] unless we’re using his legal name. I can’t think of anyone who calls him [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] except for his doctor and if they do it’s very irregular. We actually contemplated legally changing it to just [name_m]Jack[/name_m] but I didn’t go through with it.

Wow I think you and I have a similar eclectic styles because I like a lot of your names listed here. [name_m]How[/name_m] lucky that your husband is giving you final say (wish my would lol).

The [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] thing; I guess if you love it its fine. Some people like having matching first initials for their children so why not matching endings? Its not like they will be said together all the time.

He’s only giving me the final say because he wouldn’t let me name [name_m]Jack[/name_m] just [name_m]Jack[/name_m] because he wanted [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] so I gave in and regret it tremendously.

I removed Cameron and Reese from the girls and Anderson, Rowan, Smith, and Theo from the boys.

I like many names from your list, but most of them, in my opinion, don’t go well with [name_m]Jack[/name_m]. [name_m]Don[/name_m]‘t get me wrong, I like [name_m]Jack[/name_m], too, but I think it’s quite important for siblings’ names to sound good together.
