Is there any such thing as a long-form name for [name_f]Isla[/name_f]? It’s one of my crushes right now, but I don’t like names with no nn potential… so is there anything you can think of that would be a believable long-form for [name_f]Isla[/name_f]??

[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] or [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] maybe?

My first thought was and Is- name with a L-a middle name, like for example [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Lila[/name_f] “[name_f]Isla[/name_f]”.(Along the same lines as [name_f]Jenna[/name_f] [name_m]Bush[/name_m] [name_f]Hager[/name_f]'s daughter [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Laura[/name_f] “[name_f]Mila[/name_f]”) [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Lila[/name_f] doesn’t flow well, but there’s other options. [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f], or [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] would all be stunning with the nickname [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. I’m getting more excited about it just typing this.

The first thing that came to my mind was [name_f]Delilah[/name_f].

I love the idea of first - middle!! That’s so brilliant

You could always call a little [name_f]Isla[/name_f] ‘Isley’ for a nn.

Or “[name_f]Lala[/name_f]” or “Laly”

What if you just shortened [name_f]Isla[/name_f]? I find it kind of silly to try and force [name_f]Isla[/name_f] on as a nickname for a totally unrelated name, as it’s a word name.

[name_f]Isla[/name_f] could easily be nicknamed to [name_u]Issy[/name_u] or [name_f]Lala[/name_f]

An potential nn for [name_f]Isla[/name_f] could be [name_f]Izzy[/name_f]…

[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f], maybe? If she can get [name_f]Lila[/name_f], why not [name_f]Isla[/name_f]?

[name_f]Kyla[/name_f] nn [name_f]Isla[/name_f] maybe though honestly that seems a little silly don’t you think? swapping one four letter 2 syllable name for another?

I get wanting to find an option but what makes [name_f]Isla[/name_f] so pretty is it’s simplicity.
[name_m]How[/name_m] do you feel about double barrel names? [name_f]Isla[/name_f]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f]? [name_f]Isla[/name_f]-[name_f]Mae[/name_f]? etc?? That way [name_f]Isla[/name_f] would be a nn but still retain it’s simple beauty - (which is probably what you fell in love with).

Also consider… we chose a name I thought had multiple nn options - and yet none of them seem right for our baby girl. So planning a nn might not always work out.

I like PP’s suggestion of [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]. Maybe [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], [name_f]Irisa[/name_f], or Ismaya? Maybe [name_f]Eilidh[/name_f] would work too, but [name_f]Eilidh[/name_f] sounds more like a nickname for [name_f]Isla[/name_f].

I like the idea of a double barrel name for this one. Most any long-form name would otherwise be a stretch to [name_f]Isla[/name_f] as a nickname for.

[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] is a good idea. [name_f]Iolanthe[/name_f]? [name_f]Ireland[/name_f]? [name_f]Ilaria[/name_f]?
