I need your opinion!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Guys! Could you please let me know what you think about name [name_f]Maja[/name_f] ([name_f]Maya[/name_f]) with surname Koza? I love the name, it’s absolutely my favorite of all but not sure whether it can sound ok with surname. I know it’s not perfect as longer name would sound better but just want to check weather it sounds alright, for example and not silly.

It would actually go with the middle name Julianna, Zuzanna or Felicia.

It’s not ideal, but it’s perfectly usable.

I think it sounds fine with your surname!

Its fine! Definitely not silly.

I think it works just fine! I definitely don’t think it sounds silly or anything else that should deter you from using your favorite name. I say go for it!

I agree with this! It sounds really nice.

While you can do it, and people do… I don’t think they sound great together. I think you can use first names ending with ‘a’ if the syllable count varies. So, [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] K, [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] K, [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] K, all work fine. But [name_f]Laura[/name_f] K, [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] K, like [name_f]Maja[/name_f] K, don’t flow so well.

In the end, you need to ask yourself if you would be happy to have this first and surname combination - saying it and hearing others say it, over and over. I grew up with a first and surname that don’t work together and it really grated on me, and reinforces how often the full name is said.

I love it! if you think your baby would suit the name go for it. it doesn’t matter what other people think as long as you love the name!

Maja Koza has a charming sound - I quite like it!

Maja Koza sounds very good but ‘-ja Koza’ reminds me of jacuzzi.

It’s not perfect, but not unusable.

I think it sounds fine with your surname

It would actually go with the middle name [name_f]Julianna[/name_f], [name_f]Zuzanna[/name_f] or [name_f]Felicia[/name_f]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think that a middle name can make a difference at all? In fact it will be used only in official correspondence, documents etc.

Ditto.

I actually quite like it! It has an easy flow to say, and is memorable. Sounds like someone of some importance, anybody ranging from an author, to figure skater, or politician

The middles aren’t used in everyday life so that wouldn’t help, I think. Those middles would work well with your surname as first names.

I can see I’m in the minority here and people generally think it’s fine. What sounds good in a name is quite subjective, and language and cultures vary in what sounds ‘normal’ and good too. As I said, I’m coming from a personal perspective, which has made me feel that one of the most important features of a name is how it sounds overall with the surname, as that is the label someone is taking through life, whereas most people seem to go on how much they love the first name.

I am actually joining ranks with everything @Araminty put out there. I actually really like the suggestion of the possible middles becoming first names. Maybe then if you’re really wanting to keep [name_f]Maja[/name_f] it could flow / work better as a middle. [name_m]Just[/name_m] imho!

I’ll just throw out there that for me at first it sounds a bit “off” - but the more I say it to myself, the more I personally love the rhythm. I would absolutely go with it if you love it.
For reference, my class mate had the same flow to her first and last names (very similar names to these in fact) and nearly everyone at school called her by her first and last names. It seemed we’d all picked up on and enjoyed the flow of her name - which also proved helpful for remembering her name.

I agree, sorry!
