[name]Hi[/name], [name]Charlie[/name]!

I voted for [name]Isadora[/name]. In second place would be [name]Iris[/name], and [name]Imogen[/name] in third.

I’ve been so excited for the ‘I’ poll, yay!

[name]Isadora[/name] - [name]Love[/name]! I’d so use this if my cousin wasn’t an [name]Isabella[/name]. I love how you can get [name]Sadie[/name] as a nn. The meaning ‘gift of [name]Isis[/name]’ is pretty cool too, I know nameberry says that it is Latin but I always thought it was greek, because of [name]Dora[/name] meaning gift. Anyway, I think [name]Isadora[/name] is quirky and very pretty.

[name]Iris[/name] - I adore [name]Iris[/name]! I could see [name]Iris[/name] on a woman of any age, I love the flowers and [name]Iris[/name] has one of my favourite meanings ever, who doesn’t love rainbows? The fact that it is Greek is an added bonus for me.

[name]Imogen[/name]- I don’t mind [name]Imogen[/name], I knew a few, and they are all nice people, the name just feels a little bit bland to me. It’s Greek-ness and the meaning ‘beloved child’ is almost enough to change my mind, but I don’t like it as much as some of your other choices.

[name]Isolde[/name] - I definitely prefer [name]Isadora[/name] to [name]Isolde[/name]. I don’t think [name]Isolde[/name] sounds as cheerful and I can almost never pronounce it right, that might just be me though. I think it sounds sort of cute and vintage though.

[name]Ianthe[/name] - I do really [name]Ianthe[/name], but there would probably be pronunciation problems, I just did a google search on it and no-one seemed to be sure, eye-an-thee, ee-an-the or yan-thee, which one do you say? I love the meaning ‘purple flower’ as well

[name]Idra[/name] - I had never heard of this one till I saw it just now, so I’m still deciding on it. I think it is short and sweet but I’m not sure if it is a little too old sounding for me.

It’s a tough decision again, I have narrowed it down to [name]Iris[/name] or [name]Ianthe[/name] and I think just because [name]Iris[/name] will probably get quiet a few votes anyway, I’m going to go with [name]Ianthe[/name].

As for other I names, I really like [name]Inez[/name], [name]Ingrid[/name] and maybe [name]Ida[/name] ooh and [name]Indigo[/name], I love [name]Indigo[/name]

Another great poll!

  • [name]Elena[/name]

I love [name]Isadora[/name], [name]Iris[/name] and [name]Imogen[/name]. I voted for [name]Imogen[/name].

I voted for [name]Isadora[/name], second place would have been [name]Iris[/name]. I also like [name]Isla[/name] and [name]Isabella[/name], though it is sooo popular!

My vote went for [name]Iris[/name] But [name]Isadora[/name] was definitely a close second!

I voted for [name]Isadora[/name] but to be honest, it was a hard pick. I’m not too fond of any of the names you listed. [name]Iris[/name] is cute, but I decided to go with the longer, frillier [name]Isadora[/name]. My favourite I-name is [name]Isobel[/name]. I also quite like [name]Ingrid[/name], [name]Isla[/name] and [name]Irina[/name].

Okay, I must admit: I am not a big fan of any of the names on the poll. My favourite “I” name is [name]Isabella[/name], but since it isn’t on the list, I went for [name]Isadora[/name].

I’m not fond of ‘I’ names really, except for [name]Isabella[/name], which I love but is way to popular for my liking. I voted for [name]Isadora[/name]. I like this one, but I’m not sure I like it enough to put it on my list.

I voted for [name]Iris[/name], but my favorite I name is [name]Isabel[/name], which wasn’t a choice.
[name]Glad[/name] to see [name]Helena[/name] won the last poll, I simply adore that name

[name]Hi[/name] [name]Cecily[/name], bb, bounceparty, flowerchic, liz22, samjaymc, gipro2003 and rachelmarie!

Thanks for voting [name]Isadora[/name] (mainly), [name]Iris[/name] and [name]Imogen[/name], your opinions are greatly appreciated and from what it seems you’re all liking [name]Isadora[/name] because it’s similar to [name]Isabella[/name]? And you prefer [name]Isabella[/name] over the ‘I’ names on my list?

I must admit, [name]Isabella[/name] has lost its charm for me. Usually popularity doesn’t really matter to me, I tend to go for less common names anyway, but with all the Isabellas out there this just seems a little, I can’t believe I’m saying this, generic. I was never a huge fan of [name]Isabella[/name] but I used to love [name]Isobel[/name], much more subtle and delicate but with more spunk and character. I still think they’re both very pretty, [name]Isabel[/name] too, just not for me.

As for the other ‘I’ names that were favourites, [name]Ingrid[/name] is wonderful and was very nearly on this list, [name]Irina[/name] is very pretty and [name]Isla[/name] is cute and spunky but not really a favourite of mine.

Thanks again for voting:) [name]Hope[/name] to hear from you all in the ‘J’ [name]Poll[/name]!

[name]Hi[/name] [name]Elena[/name]

I always look forward to reading your comments! Let’s see…

[name]Isadora[/name] - The [name]Sadie[/name] nn! I’ve never thought of that before! What a great idea:) Actually I hadn’t thought of any nns for [name]Isadora[/name], I love it so much in full form that, although it’s a mouthful, I don’t think I’d use a nn. Am really liking [name]Sadie[/name] now though… I really love how [name]Isadora[/name] sounds kind of like ‘I adore her’, well it does when I say it:)

As to its origins… I’m not sure. I agree, [name]Dora[/name] is definitely Greek but [name]Isis[/name] is Egyptian so I have no idea where Latin came from.

[name]Iris[/name] - I adore it too (obviously)! I love it’s simplicity and like you said, it ages so well. The flowers are my favourite and I lOVE rainbows (exactly, no one doesn’t!) plus the mythological connection is the icing on the cake:)

MUST GO WALK THE DOG

Okay, back again.

[name]Imogen[/name] - Is it bland because you know a few? Or is it the name itself? I’ve only known one [name]Imogen[/name] and at the time I knew her I didn’t like the name (not because of her), it seemed odd to me but I wanted to like it. Now, I do! I love how uncommon it is and its meaning is one of the best there is. Plus it has the cutest nn [name]Gen[/name]

I agree, [name]Isolde[/name] is rather solemn but it seems so elegant to me and has an air of mystery about it which draws me in. I say Iz-[name]OL[/name]-deh but the last syllable is very subtle. I think I’m a sucker for the name from love stories; [name]Juliet[/name], [name]Ophelia[/name], [name]Isolde[/name], [name]Helen[/name], [name]Josephine[/name], [name]Francesca[/name], [name]Eloise[/name] and [name]Thisbe[/name] just to name a few:) It’s the romance of it I think…

[name]Ianthe[/name], I pronounce ‘Eye-[name]ANN[/name]-thee’ and I just love how exotic it sounds! I agree though, it would confuse people and could therefor be burdensome but it has such sparkle, the ‘X’ factor, I think. Isn’t its meaning gorgeous? I love the ‘secret’ flower names:)

Last but not least, [name]Idra[/name]. [name]Idra[/name] is part of my new craze; tree names. I love the symbolism and history of them and how multicultural they are, I think tree names have such depth. [name]Idra[/name] means ‘fig tree’ which, like nameberry says, is a symbol of learning, peace and prosperity. Plus I just think [name]Idra[/name] is very sweet, don’t you?

Yay for voting [name]Ianthe[/name]! Yes, [name]Iris[/name] is getting quite a few votes but [name]Isadora[/name] is really running away with it. I couldn’t help but notice, you love Greek names? I love them too:) What are your favourites?

Other ‘I’ names… I do really like [name]Ingrid[/name], as I mentioned in my earlier post, it was nearly on this list. [name]Inez[/name] I prefer as [name]Ynez[/name] and [name]Ida[/name] is a bit too ‘old-lady’ for me. Oh yes, [name]Indigo[/name]! Well, I do love [name]Indigo[/name] but… for a boy. I think the cutest (and corniest) names for b/g twins would be [name]Indigo[/name] and [name]Violet[/name]

Thanks for your reply, [name]Elena[/name]! Can’t wait to hear what you have to say about my ‘J’ [name]Poll[/name]

  • [name]Charlie[/name]

I don’t think [name]Imogen[/name] means “beloved child.”

Behindthename.com says, “The name of a princess in the play ‘[name]Cymbeline[/name]’ (1609) by [name]Shakespeare[/name]. He based her on a legendary character named [name]Innogen[/name], but the name was printed incorrectly and never corrected. The name [name]Innogen[/name] is probably derived from Gaelic inghean meaning ‘maiden.’”

[name]George[/name] R. [name]Stewart[/name]'s American Given Names says the same thing. It’s a really long entry. Basically it says it was either a typo of [name]Innogen[/name] or a hypothetical reworking based on Latin innus “lowest, last” and gen “born.” In the play [name]Imogen[/name] is neither lowest or last born, though, so this makes little sense.

You’ll have to take that up with [name]Pam[/name] and [name]Linda[/name], [name]Fay[/name]

You may very well be right though, I looked on other name sites and they stated [name]Imogen[/name] as meaning ‘maiden’ but I’m sticking with the NB meaning for the time being as it’s the one I like best.

What did you vote for?

  • [name]Charlie[/name]

I voted for [name]Iris[/name]. I like [name]Isadore[/name] for a girl, but I wouldn’t use it since it’s a boy’s name. [name]Isadora[/name] just seems so flowery. I also love [name]Isabel[/name], but now too popular.

Fair enough. Thanks for voting:)

  • [name]Charlie[/name]

I voted for [name]Isadora[/name], which is a name I just “discovered” the other day! I also like [name]Isabelle[/name].

Hey [name]Charlie[/name]

I don’t think [name]Imogen[/name] is bland because I know a few, it might be that though. I think it’s just with the amount of other names that I love, [name]Imogen[/name] feels a little eh. It could be because it [name]Britain[/name], [name]Imogen[/name] is pretty popular at #33 (I think), I see it similarly to how I see [name]Leah[/name] and [name]Hannah[/name], names that I don’t see anything wrong with, just lack that special something for me.

Yeah, secret flower names are ace! [name]Ianthe[/name] does definitely have lots of sparkle, fast becoming another favourite for me!

Tree names are a cool phase  I love the symbolism of [name]Idra[/name], and yeah, I do thinkit sounds pretty sweet, I still need a bit more time to love [name]Idra[/name] though. It’s not on my list yet, but I think I’d love to meet a little [name]Idra[/name]

[name]Isolde[/name] is growing on me, I think I prefer [name]Francesca[/name] and [name]Juliet[/name], I like it, I just don’t love it.

Yeah, I do have huge love for Greek names and being Greek, I would love to use Greek names in the future. I love so many but a few that I love are; [name]Iris[/name], [name]Cassandra[/name], [name]Ianthe[/name], [name]Anastasia[/name], [name]Xanthe[/name], [name]Cassia[/name], [name]Phyllida[/name], [name]Bronte[/name], [name]Jocasta[/name] (eek, I know bad history, I still love its sound though!) and [name]Persephone[/name]. Oops, thats not really a few, well its a ‘few’ from my stupidly long list, and thats not even counting boys!

I think [name]Indigo[/name] is great for a boy too, although I do still love it for a girl. I’m so awful at decisions, I don’t know if I’ll ever decide which gender I prefer it for!

can’t wait for your ‘J’ poll! Ooh J’s are hard, for me anyway. I’m sure voting will be difficult though

  • [name]Elena[/name]

Woo-hoo!!! It’s a poll from [name]Charlie[/name]! [name]How[/name]'ve you been? I think I may have missed the H poll, so I’m sorry about that! (If [name]Helena[/name] was included, I’ll vote for [name]Helena[/name]. If [name]Helena[/name] wasn’t included, I’ll cry a bit inside and vote for something else, like [name]Hope[/name]. If [name]Hope[/name] wasn’t there, I’ll vote for [name]Hazel[/name]. If [name]Hazel[/name] didn’t make the cut, I’ll vote for [name]Henrietta[/name]. If [name]Henrietta[/name] wasn’t there, I’ll vote for [name]Harriet[/name]. If [name]Harriet[/name] wasn’t there, I’ll vote for…Hmm…I guess I’ll vote for whatever is left.)

[name]Isadora[/name]: I love [name]Isadora[/name]! I think it’s such an amazing name, and I love the potential nicknames ([name]Izzie[/name], [name]Sadie[/name], [name]Dora[/name], etc…)

[name]Iris[/name]: Oooh! I’m all about [name]Iris[/name], too! I’ve never met a little [name]Iris[/name], and I’d really love to.

[name]Imogen[/name]: I think it’s a great name, but I love [name]Isadora[/name] and [name]Iris[/name] more.

[name]Isolde[/name]: I think it’s beautiful, and I love the literary connection.

[name]Ianthe[/name]: I guess I’m more of a [name]Xanthe[/name] person, but I do think that [name]Ianthe[/name] is cool.

[name]Idra[/name]: I like the others more, but don’t tell that to [name]Idra[/name]. Shhh…

For me, it was between [name]Isadora[/name] and [name]Iris[/name], and I decided to go with [name]Isadora[/name], because of the nickname potential. I may change my vote to [name]Iris[/name] in a few minutes, but at the moment, my vote is for [name]Isadora[/name].

Great list, [name]Charlie[/name]!

I hope you’ve been well!

I voted for [name]Iris[/name]. But, my favorite all time girls’ name for “I” is Irulan, the princess’s name from [name]Dune[/name].
