I SERIOUSLY need boy name inspo

I have an extensive girl name list, but my boy name list is just… sad, IMO. I have a few names I love but can’t use, and a few I LIKE, but don’t LOVE.

I am IN LOVE with all of our girl names, I really want to find a boy name I’m just as excited about.

Criteria:

  • Ideally around 700-1,000 (ish - just a general idea) on the US popularity chart
  • Should go well with our last name, which is Slavic and 2 syllables
  • Easy to pronounce, not terribly fussy or high-maintenance

For reference, here are some names we both love for girls:
[name_u]Florence[/name_u]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f] (nn Hattie)
Agnes/Ines
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]

Names I love but CAN’T use, either for family reasons or because they’re a little too high-maintenance and difficult to pronounce in the US:
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
Theodore/Theo
[name_u]Remy[/name_u]
[name_u]Basil[/name_u]

Names I like, but don’t LOVE, mainly bc they are kind of trendy/popular:
[name_u]Archer[/name_u]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_u]Leo[/name_u]

Names DH loves, that I don’t like (he likes mythological/warrior-type names)"
[name_u]Arthur[/name_u]
[name_m]Soren[/name_m]
[name_m]Balthazar[/name_m]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m]

Some names we DON’T like (either too popular, too high-maintenance, etc):
Giles/Miles
Milo/Arlo
Evander/Leander
Anything ending in -son
Anything super standard (i.e. [name_u]George[/name_u], [name_u]Henry[/name_u], [name_u]James[/name_u], etc. I love these but for middle names only.)

So, all things taken into account, our style is vintage-inspired, with a slight hint of mythological (due to DH’s tastes), and traditional European-sounding. And, ideally, not too popular, but also not unheard of.

I would love to discover some kind of name that’s vintage and classic and ready to come back into the limelight, like [name_u]Walter[/name_u] or [name_m]Humphrey[/name_m], that doesn’t sound as high-maintenance as those do.

If you have any suggestions I would be all ears!

ooooh how fun and exciting !!! here are some i love that sorta fit this vibe:

[name_m]Wilbur[/name_m]
Caspian/Cassian
Barnabas/Barnaby
[name_u]Dorian[/name_u]
[name_m]Edwin[/name_m]
[name_m]Lucian[/name_m]
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m]
[name_m]Percival[/name_m]
[name_m]Seymour[/name_m]
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u]
[name_m]Truman[/name_m]

don’t know how many of these would be considered high maintenance to you but !!! at least some ideas to start : )

Thank you! I appreciate your suggestions :). I especially like [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m], [name_m]Seymour[/name_m], and [name_m]Caspian[/name_m]. I actually REALLY like [name_u]Dorian[/name_u], I just have some concerns as to how it might be perceived. I have gotten the name [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] recommended to me quite a few times, which is interesting, because it sounds more nature-y to me (a la [name_m]Fletcher[/name_m], [name_m]Graham[/name_m], etc.). I might have to re-think how I’m looking at it!

Ooh I second [name_m]Alfred[/name_m], [name_m]Clark[/name_m], and [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]. How about [name_u]Francis[/name_u] or [name_m]Franklin[/name_m]? Some others would be [name_u]Howard[/name_u], [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], [name_m]Vincent[/name_m]. I love [name_u]Cecil[/name_u]! It would fit so well into your girl names.

If you like Dorian, how about Darian? It has similar sounds but a much better meaning. I also LOVE the suggestion of Ambrose! I think it goes really well with your girl name options.

Apologies if these are too popular!

[name_u]Harry[/name_u] - I know it’s very popular here in [name_f]England[/name_f], but it’s only at 720 in the US. Plus, your name lists give me a vintage, British name vibe.
[name_u]Stanley[/name_u]
[name_m]Wilfred[/name_m]
[name_m]Jacoby[/name_m]
[name_m]Cillian[/name_m]
[name_u]Florian[/name_u]
[name_m]Hamish[/name_m]
[name_m]Lochlan[/name_m]
[name_u]Thaddeus[/name_u]

Your husband’s favourites made me think of [name_u]Rohan[/name_u], [name_m]Magnus[/name_m], and [name_m]Bjorn[/name_m], but they probably aren’t quite your style either!
