Hello all, I am [name_f]Trish[/name_f]. I am 37 years old and have been married for six years now. The first two years of my marriage, I and my husband had decided no kids then. This is because of some project we were both handling then and did not have the time to settle in to having kids just yet. When we had finally decided to start having children, we then discovered it was not as easy as we had anticipated. We had gone for a few checkups and were adjudged to be okay. We however were recommended to take some drugs which I did and it still did not pay off. It wasn’t until recently when we went for another series of tests that it was discovered that I had a blocked fallopian tube. I wondered why it wasn’t discovered early enough but the doctor said it wasn’t there before and recommended a surgery. I am confused now because I don’t know if the surgery will make things alright. The doctor said it wasn’t there before yet I could not conceive then; is it now that it has been discovered that I’ll conceive when it has been removed? Could it be that the problem is just more than the doctor sees it? I am really confused here ladies; please what do you think?
Hello [name_f]Trish[/name_f] and welcome to Nameberry! I unfortunately know nothing of much use or knowledge that I can tell you. I’ve had no experience with anything like your facing. I wonder tho if it might help you feel better to get a second opinion? See if a different doctor would tell you the same thing. It’s just an idea, maybe it would be of no use. I do hope you get some helpful advice, and can find a solution to what you are dealing with. All the best.
I would probably seek another doctor’s opinion. When we were struggling with infertility my OBGYN wanted to do a Hysterosalpingography (HSG test) before starting me on Clomid. The only way I am aware of that you can know if you have a blocked tube is by doing this procedure, which is very uncomfortable. I, luckily, ended up getting a postive pregnancy test 2 days before I was going to do this procedure, so I never had to do it or go on Clomid.
So I am not sure how your doctor knew it wasn’t blocked before unless you had an HSG done and then the only way to know if it was blocked now would be to do another HSG.
Anyway, clearing the tube will indeed help you get pregnant because the egg can’t travel down the fallopian tube if it is blocked, so once it’s clear, the egg will be able to travel again. This is why my OBGYN wanted me to do the procedure because doing clomid if you have a blocked tube, would basically be a waste.
A lot of these questions you should probably take to your doctor. A GOOD OBGYN will answer your questions and explain fully. I loved my OBGYN because I had no idea what PCOS was and once I was diagonesed with it, she was ready to answer all my questions and even gave me a packet of information.
Hello, my friend discovered something similar as yours. She consulted the gynecologist and took a second opinion too. She finally decided to go with the surgery process as she was already 38 and can’t delay anymore. From god’s grace she had a successful surgery and currently going with the IVF process as she has a few other health issues as well. I would suggest you to go for a second opinion as well to have a better idea on this. I hope my reply helps you in some way.
Hello, I would like to say that taking a medical decision is the best option for the patients who are suffering from infertility. See it is a universal fact that it’s not important that infertility can’t be cured it just varies person to person. In research results are found that the most common cause of infertility is the lack of balanced diet. After consulting a dietician, I started taking proper diet under the guidance of an expert. I was surprised to see the sudden effect due to my changed diet and found some good news that filled my life with endless joy. I can understand the problem you are going through. I failed to conceive that demoralized me and filled my life with depression. I started living alone and thinking about some kind of permanent solutions for this. First of all, I would say that you should never panic about your infertility. Infertility problem is found only in rare cases. Positive thinking and attitude is the key to success in long run. The second most important thing is you should mark you periodic cycle that will help you get an idea to understand your conceiving status. Your period must be regular and on proper time. Having period timely is a clear indication that you are healthy and able to conceive a baby in a natural way. The most important point i want to highlight again is a balanced diet. You should take a healthy diet with lots and lots of fibers no unhealthy only foods filled with beneficial vitamins. I too follow all the instructions given by my doctor carefully. [name_m]Just[/name_m] remember to be positive on your part and think positive. You can also take a second or third opinion on this for knowing your condition better.
Adopt. There are babies, children, and teenagers who need homes. They will still be your child.
I was told I had blocked tubes. Later was put under for a surgery and they said actually one tube isn’t blocked. They couldn’t fix the other. Unexplained infertility. I just went ahead to IVF because I wanted to get pregnant ASAP. IVF worked.
