Hello! (Sorry for opening a new thread again)
By reading the thread’s titles here on Nameberry, I came across [name_f]Arielle[/name_f], and it made me immediately think of Airelle. It was on my list back then, but for some reasons I never really considered this name and even forgot about it. However, when it came to my mind a few minutes ago, my first feeling was “Oh my god, that could actually be her name! I love it”.
Airelle is a french word and it means “huckleberry”. It’s a nature name, so that’s definitely a plus for me! It’s pronounced like [name_f]Air[/name_f]+[name_f]Elle[/name_f] or Erell. I feel like this name is really easy to wear, but still original. It’s also easy to pronounce in [name_m]French[/name_m] and in English. It has everything I’m looking for.
What do you think about Airelle? Does it look weird or invented to you?
Thank you!
I misread it for [name_f]Arielle[/name_f] at first, but that’s probably because I’m unfamiliar with it.
Sound wise, it’s fresh and pretty, airy and earthy all at once. I quite like it
I think that it could work, yes, but I’d say it would be constantly misread and misspelled as [name_f]Arielle[/name_f]. It does seem to look quite ‘invented’ and also, it does make me think aerial and [name_m]Errol[/name_m] (and also makes me think of air-freshener for some reason…), so I can’t say I’m a big fan myself. The [name_m]French[/name_m] word meaning is nice though. But yeah, if you love it, it is usable.
Airelle is really pretty in sound, but I too misread it as [name_f]Arielle[/name_f]
I misread it at first but it is very pretty!
I really like it, and I have to say that I love it for you! Your style strikes me as sweet, quirky, feminine but not fussy, nature-inspired and (of course) nicely international. This seems to tick all of your boxes.
I am really loving Airelle! I find the pronunciation quite straight forward, it’s exactly how it looks to me. So I would find Airelle to work quite smoothly between English and [name_m]French[/name_m]. Also, the meaning is so lovely and sweet.
I would say go for it.
Airelle is a pretty name, but as a [name_m]French[/name_m] native I think that most [name_m]French[/name_m] speakers might find it a bit weird? Fruit names are never (or very rarely) used as names in [name_m]French[/name_m], but maybe that’s just me.
