I think i'm committing a baby name crime :0

Welllll
I feel just slightly guilty about my name choice, i was going to keep it kinda secret till her birth but ended up exploding and telling people! trust me! and i got…positive feedback!!
the name i am loving and pretty dead set on is [name]Maria[/name] [name]Skye[/name]
Beautiful right? ok well i think it is!
Now the only problem here is my last name. my last name is [name]Walker[/name].
Skywalker. Starwars.
I’m not sure thats very cool!

i really like how [name]Maria[/name] [name]Skye[/name] sound said together but dont like hyphenating names [name]Maria[/name]-[name]Skye[/name] just doesnt look nice to me. I also just like plain [name]Maria[/name] on her own. The people i told and i was terrified of “NOT STARWARS!” reaction were like hey thats cool! no one really focuses on middle names it’ll be fine and like a unique cool surprise!

then we all started saying [name]Maria[/name] [name]Skye[/name] together and the idea of making that her first name and then an extra middle name to break up the [name]Skye[/name] and [name]Walker[/name] was born. eg [name]Maria[/name] [name]Skye[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Walker[/name]. That looks too big to me. [name]Maria[/name]-[name]Skye[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Walker[/name]? MariaSkye?

personally i dont think the whole skywalker thing is a very big deal but i have a feeling its a baby naming crime…

I think the sky walker thing is awesome. And she’s a girl, and it’s spelled [name]Skye[/name] and she’ll never be called her whole name by anyone outside of your family.

Actually, if I were you I’d call her [name]Maria[/name] Skywalker often.

Umm I don’t think it’s a crime but I think if you’re gonna use it you should get use to people laughing and giggling at her name. I do like the name though…maybe u could change the last name JK:)

Leave it just as it is [name]Maria[/name] [name]Skye[/name] [name]Walker[/name] no hyphen. Its pretty and at school and work she’d just be [name]Maria[/name] [name]Walker[/name].

Ditto this.

I don’t think it’s a big deal and I’m really not a fan of hyphenated first names. I think, in the long run, that would cause more problems. I do like the idea of a second middle in this case but think [name]Maria[/name] [name]Skye[/name] [name]Walker[/name] is perfectly fine.

I wouldn’t stress the fiction connection, I have the [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] connection with [name]Gemma[/name] [name]Hermione[/name] (like you the name I’m pretty much dead set on using) and I won’t let that stop me either because I honestly love the name so much that it fills me with joy when I think or say it. Then I get a big ole silly smile on my face. If you feel the same way about [name]Maria[/name] [name]Skye[/name] then don’t let anything else rob you of that joy! <3 I happen to think it’s a lovely name myself, and I think the Skywalker connection is actually pretty freaking neat! Her college days will be awesome

Absolutely, keep it! After the first year of her life when you walk around telling people her full name in such excitement, she will be [name]Maria[/name] [name]Walker[/name]. A beautiful classic name, yet she’ll have the benefit of the “skye walker/skywalker” story to tell people when she chooses to. It’s fun and interesting! And so much better than a hyphen or two middle names in my opinion

This. 100x this! Honestly, I think it’s great!

I think you’re fine with just [name]Maria[/name] [name]Skye[/name] [name]Walker[/name]. [name]How[/name] many people are actually gonna call her by full name? Except for some family members, most people will know her as [name]Maria[/name] [name]Walker[/name].

Honestly, I only knew the middle names of my family members, and closest friends. There could have been someone in my school with the initials A.S.S and I would have never known.

If it’s still bothering you, [name]Maria[/name] [name]Skye[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Walker[/name] sounds fine too. But I don’t think you need to use it.

[name]Skye[/name] flows very well with [name]Maria[/name], and I can see why you like it. If you keep it as just a middle name, I think you could swing it with minimal Skywalker comments. But using it as a double barreled fn is not advisable [name]IMO[/name]. [name]Say[/name] [name]Maria[/name]-[name]Skye[/name] [name]Walker[/name] out loud and honestly think if people are going to be noticing the lovely name combination of [name]Maria[/name]-[name]Skye[/name] or are they going to be wondering if her last name is really Skywalker. When [name]Skye[/name] is just a mn, there is a bit of a disconnect with the last name so I do think [name]Maria/name [name]Skye/name could work.

My brother’s name is [name]John/name [name]Walter/name. We call him by his fn or fn&mn combo. Rarely is he referred to as fn, mn, ln. If people are using his ln, they commonly say [name]John[/name] _________. That could work for [name]Maria[/name] [name]Skye[/name]; going back and forth between using her fn&mn and just her fn.

I think [name]Maria[/name] [name]Skye[/name] [name]Walker[/name] is pretty amazing!

[name]Maria[/name] [name]Skye[/name] is pretty, but I wouldn’t use it personally because of the surname

I think the hyphen & 2nd middle makes the skywalker thing more glaring

Exactly what I was going to say!

I’d change the mn or add a 2nd mn. I don’t want my kids name to be a joke

I’m in grad school and just registered for graduation. Your diploma has your full name and during graduation they announce your full name. I would not be happy if “[name]Maria[/name] Skywalker” was blasted to the whole convention center as I walked across the stage for my diploma. And from my experience when graduating from high school and undergrad, the audience does chuckle at bad names. [name]Skye[/name] [name]Walker[/name] will definitely get some laughs.

I wouldn’t make a word/phrase out of my child’s name regardless if it’s a positive or negative connotation. Although, I might be a hypocrite because if it were [name]Autumn[/name] [name]Skye[/name], maybe I could be convinced it’s do-able (even if I wouldn’t personally use it.)

I guess [name]Maria[/name] [name]Skye[/name] [name]Walker[/name] is better than… [name]Maria[/name] [name]Johnny[/name] [name]Walker[/name] or something, and I am not trying to put down people who like the name. It’s just so connected to a phenomenon that I would be uncomfortable if it were my name.

It’s not like you want to name her [name]Leia[/name] [name]Skye[/name] or [name]Padme[/name] [name]Skye[/name].

I think [name]Maria[/name] [name]Skye[/name] is very pretty, and judging how the [name]Star[/name] Wars popularity has last and grown, I think most people will think it’s a pretty cool name.

Me too! That is just awesome.

That really depends on the school. When I graduated from undergrad and grad school (two different universities), they asked what name I wanted on the diploma… and by the time they got to the “W” section, most of the audience was half asleep and not likely to notice any funny names! There’s a good chance your daughter may be able to request a diploma as [name]Maria[/name] S. [name]Walker[/name] if it’s an issue for her.

I think it’s a pretty name, but then I love [name]Star[/name] Wars.

I think you should either go with [name]Maria[/name] [name]Skye[/name] [name]Walker[/name] or [name]Maria[/name] [name]Skye[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Walker[/name]. [name]Both[/name] are great. [name]Remember[/name], no one really knows a person’s middle name normally, until everyone shares it with each other - the [name]Maria[/name] will be the most popular because others will think that “Skywalker” is cool!!! Plus, someday she may get married and change her last name, and she will no longer be a skywalker. She may turn into a Skysmith. lol
I vote against hyphenating [name]Maria[/name] [name]Skye[/name], that will just make her life uneccesarily complicated, “[name]Maria[/name]-[name]Skye[/name]” is too much to say all at once all the time for her whole life imo. But if you want two middle names… then go for it!!! She could easily have [name]Skye[/name] and [name]Genevieve[/name] as her middle names. Then she could pick if she wanted to tell people her middle name was [name]Skye[/name], or [name]Genevieve[/name].
