…then my husband “found” another name!! I posted on here before about [name]Eva[/name] vs. [name]Lila/name and we were pretty set on using [name]Lila[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] which I still think is gorgeous. We used family names for our other two, [name]Elliott[/name] (girl) and [name]Lincoln[/name] so he’s uncovered a [name]Genevieve[/name] amongst the branches of the family tree. He LOVES this name and the reception from some of the people we’ve told it to is extremely positive! Help! Is it better than [name]Lila[/name]?? The middle name would be [name]Jayne[/name] after my grandmother, is that too much of a mouthful?? This is so frustrating…but in a fun way. Thanks for your help!
I like the sound of [name]Lila[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] better ([name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Jayne[/name] seems harsh to my ears). However, could you compromise with [name]Lila[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name]?
I like [name]Jenevieve[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] or [name]Jenevieve[/name] [name]Jayne[/name] for alliteration.
Sorry, I dont like [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Jayne[/name]. It doesnt look right.
[name]Lilah[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] is lovely and perfect. maybe save [name]Genevieve[/name] for a 2nd daughter? good luck!
I love [name]Genevieve[/name] but [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is not quite right however, why not go for [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Isla[/name] [name]Jane[/name]? Yes it is three names but [name]Isla[/name] breaks up and enhances the combo and stops [name]Genevieve[/name] and [name]Jane[/name] becoming too heavy. Or if you prefer [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Lilah[/name] [name]Jane[/name]. (can’t you do [name]Jane[/name] without the ‘y’ the ‘y’ makes it dated?).
I like [name]Genevieve[/name] or [name]Josephine[/name] as the first name. I personally wouldn’t use another L or E beginning name. I’m not a fan of [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Jayne[/name] though. What if you used [name]Lila[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] or [name]Lila[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] and called her by her middle name?
I also have named my children after family members. [name]Remember[/name] this is your child. You don’t have to restrict yourself. If there’s someone you really want to honor maybe give the child the honoree’s initials or a variation of their name. I can definitely identify with wanting to honor someone even though I don’t necessarily like their name. There are ways around it.
I’m in total agreement ladies. The y in [name]Jayne[/name] has to stay as my grandma spelled it that way. [name]Lila[/name] is just so much better to me but how do I convince him? [name]Genevieve[/name] is a beautiful name, but with our middle options, it feels so heavy. Also, our last name is 3 syllables so it is a mouthful. Maybe just name her [name]Jayne[/name]? Is it too boring next to the other kids’ names or is it so simple that it is refreshing? [name]Love[/name] your thoughts!
I know that grandma spelt it as [name]Jayne[/name] but [name]Jane[/name] would be a better fit. Grandma in our family was meant to be [name]Elvira[/name] but father put Elvria on the birth certificate but if I was to go for it I would change it back to [name]Elvira[/name].
As you already have a child whose first name starts with a J I would avoid in fn spot.
I think [name]Lila[/name] is the best fit with either [name]Jayne[/name] or [name]Josephine[/name] and if you have a three syllable last name then it is probably much better to have a short, sweet, feminine and very likeable first name like [name]Lila[/name]. (Tell him that you got that advice from nameberry (the home of naming experts).-If he likes the look of [name]Genevieve[/name] I am sure he will like the look of [name]Leila[/name] which is exactly the same name as [name]Lila[/name] and if he likes this spelling you have a good combo that complements your last name.
So final name either [name]Leila[/name] [name]Jane[/name] or [name]Lilah[/name] [name]Jayne[/name] or [name]Lila[/name] [name]Jayne[/name]. If you do have to go with the ‘y’ in [name]Jayne[/name] then imo [name]Lilah[/name] [name]Jayne[/name] is the best fit as a combo but as I said [name]Leila[/name] is the name that may appeal to DH because it has echoes of [name]Genevieve[/name] in it.
[name]GENEVIEVE[/name] [name]GENEVIEVE[/name] [name]GENEVIEVE[/name]! I like it sooooooooooooo much more than [name]Lila[/name]! [name]Lila[/name] to me is quite trendy, and I just don’t see the appeal. I think [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Jane[/name] sounds adorable! PLEASE use that!
Thank you all so much for your help! @ daisy451; That is exactly what my husband says. He finds [name]Lila[/name] trendy and thinks it doesn’t have the substance that [name]Genevieve[/name] or his new favorite [name]Vivienne[/name] has.
@ rollo; I totally agree with you about the Y in [name]Jayne[/name], also we don’t have another J child, just an E and an L so that is the other deterrent with [name]Lila[/name]. SO, now if [name]Lila[/name] is out, what about these three???
I’m smitten with [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Jane[/name], if you’re ok with tweaking the spelling of [name]Jane[/name]. I really like [name]Vivienne[/name] with Ja(y)ne, too! It feels a bit heavy with [name]Josephine[/name].
I think [name]Genevieve[/name] is beautiful. I also like [name]Lila[/name]. What did you think of the earlier suggestions of [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Lila[/name] [name]Jayne[/name]? I think that has nice flow and hits all the areas you need/want.
[name]Lila[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] is gorgeous and definitely gets my vote. [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Jayne[/name] sounds comic bookish to me, I guess because of the alliterative sounds.
Vivienne Josephine is pretty, or even Vivienne Jayne (which may flow better because of the differing number of syllables). If he think Lila lacks substance, what about Delilah Jayne (unless the biblical story about Delilah bothers you)? Then you could still use Lila(h) as a nickname if you wanted.
I like [name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Jane[/name] the best:). I also really like [name]Lila[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]. And even though [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Jane[/name] doesn’t flow as well, I still think the combo is pretty and usable.
I like [name]Lila[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] best, especially with your 3-syllable last name. However, I do see your dilemma, because I love [name]Genevieve[/name]! So [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Jane[/name] would be my 2nd choice.
