I was so sure...

I was having a girl… So was DH, we were both so sure to the point that we didn’t even discuss boy names and we were calling “her” Ruby… IT’S A BOY!!! I can’t believe it, TWO boys!!! I’ll admit I’m a little bit sad as I was getting myself used to the idea of a girl, but I’m just very very happy that the ultrasound went well and that everything looked as healthy as can be. Now to my dilemma, DH hates all of the boys names I like. He has actually said that the only boys name he likes is Callum Rhys, which he describes as “epic.” He said last night, sounding defeated, “We might as well just use a family name so at least it will have some meaning.” He said we could use Harold (my grandfather who passed away this year), Floyd (his 96 year old grandfather) or Benjamin (not a family name, but one that we both have always thought was nice, if not a little boring.) Harold went by Hal, so I don’t particularly want to use it as a first name, Hal and Cal? No thanks. Floyd is nice, Welsh like Rhys, and has a little rock n roll to it. Harold Floyd or Floyd Harold don’t sound good to me. Benjamin Floyd or Benjamin Harold are both nice, but just a little boring to me. I would like to come up with some alternate names, in addition to Harold, Floyd and Benjamin that DH might like, keeping in mind the “epicness” of Callum Rhys. Can you help me? Names and name combos I like that DH is only luke warm on:

Leo Benjamin
Leo Conlan
Benjamin Chase
Miles Xavier
Benjamin Harold
Benjamin Floyd
Pierce
Graham
Ellis
Boyd - I don’t actually like this one, but my Grandmother suggested it and DH said he liked it.
Brady
Grady
Porter
Other names I like that DH has outright vetoed:
Leland
Ridley
Samuel
Julian

I would like to try and find something maybe closer to having Scottish/Irish/Welsh roots, but obviously that’s not too important. PLEASE HELP!!!

I like the vintage name of [name_m]Harold[/name_m] but of course the nn [name_m]Hal[/name_m] is too close to [name_m]Callum[/name_m]'s. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_m]Harry[/name_m] or [name_u]Ari[/name_u] as alternative nn’s?. I love [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] from your combo list. Here are some suggestions.

Thanks you, [name_u]Mischa[/name_u]… I was looking at someone else’s post and they listed [name_m]Peregrin[/name_m], similar to Peregine… What do we think about [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] as a middle name? DH loves Falcons (lol, I know, I know) and maybe he will think that is an epic middle name? I’m going out on a limb here.

I love:
[name_m]Gregor[/name_m] - although it makes me think of [name_m]Gregor[/name_m] Clegane and he was not the nicest GoT character.
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m]
[name_u]Douglas[/name_u]
[name_m]Desmond[/name_m]
[name_m]Vaughn[/name_m]

I love [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] for a first name or middle name. It’s an awesome choice! I would describe it as “epic”!

I think [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] is a little too heavy as a first name… Can you help with some combos with it in the middle? I am thinking:

[name_u]Douglas[/name_u] [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m]
[name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m]
[name_m]Floyd[/name_m] [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m]

I really wish there was a way to honor [name_m]Harold[/name_m] - My grandfather was such an amazing person. WWII veteran and [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_u]Harbor[/name_u] survivor, ran his own Civil Engineering firm for most of his life and helped to develope much of the area where I live. He was married to my grandmother for 67 years (until his death) they raised 5 kids, traveled the whole US and much of Europe. I just don’t know if [name_m]Harold[/name_m] feels right as a name for my son, though…

[name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] will be hard to match, I agree!
I love [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] and see it’s one you like too. I think you could easily do [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] [name_m]Floyd[/name_m], [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] [name_m]Harold[/name_m], or [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m].
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m] is a great choice too. [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Floyd[/name_m] is pretty amazing I think.
Macsen - love nn [name_m]Mac[/name_m]!
[name_m]Dougal[/name_m] - [name_m]Dougal[/name_m] [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m]

Thank you! Adding [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] [name_m]Harold[/name_m] to my list!

I would love to see a little boy named [name_m]Floyd[/name_m] or [name_m]Harold[/name_m]. If your don’t want to use [name_m]Hal[/name_m] as a nn for [name_m]Harold[/name_m], you could use [name_m]Harry[/name_m], [name_m]Rolly[/name_m], [name_m]Aro[/name_m], or [name_m]Rolo[/name_m].

From your lists, I like

[name_m]Harold[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]
[name_m]Harold[/name_m] [name_m]Miles[/name_m]
[name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] [name_m]Harold[/name_m]
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Floyd[/name_m] - I think this goes extremely well with [name_m]Callum[/name_m] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u].
[name_m]Harold[/name_m] [name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_m]Floyd[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]
[name_m]Harold[/name_m] [name_m]Graham[/name_m]
[name_m]Harold[/name_m] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m]
[name_u]Grady[/name_u] [name_m]Harold[/name_m]

[name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Floyd[/name_m]
[name_m]Seamus[/name_m] [name_m]Floyd[/name_m]
[name_m]Lucian[/name_m] [name_m]Floyd[/name_m]
[name_m]Angus[/name_m] [name_m]Floyd[/name_m]
[name_m]Tavish[/name_m] [name_m]Floyd[/name_m]
[name_m]Kester[/name_m] [name_m]Floyd[/name_m]

[name_m]Hal[/name_m], [name_m]Hall[/name_m], or [name_m]Hale[/name_m] would all be nice mn’s to honor a [name_m]Harold[/name_m]. Or maybe [name_m]Harlan[/name_m] or [name_u]Harley[/name_u]

Thank you! Adding [name_m]Harold[/name_m] [name_m]Miles[/name_m] and [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Floyd[/name_m] to my list!

I want to add - I discovered [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] means small, as does [name_m]Paul[/name_m]… [name_m]Paul[/name_m] is also a (heavily used) name in my family’s history, so [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] [name_m]Harold[/name_m], [name_m]Harold[/name_m] [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] or [name_m]Floyd[/name_m] [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] would be awesome combos - Adding them!

What about Leo Harold or Leo Floyd?

I like Graham Harold, or Harold Graham. Same goes for Brady Harold, although “Harold Brady” sounds a bit like another member of the Brady Bunch.

I love the name Paul. Brady Paul, maybe?

BTW, I love Callum Rhys.

What about Owen? Harold Owen?

Brennan Floyd
Cormac Vaughn
Blaine Harold
Ross Harold
Tiernan Paul
Roan Harold
MacClean Paul - McClain, or any other variant
Donovan Paul
Darby Floyd
Darby Harold
Kendrick Paul
Kennedy Vaughn
Kian Floyd
Eames Vaughn
Oliver Floyd
Rory Vaughn
Bryce Harold
Keenan Floyd
Sullivan Paul
Ian Harold
Conroy Paul
Finnegan Paul
Finn Harold
Floyd Mackenzie
Harold Teague
Brogan Paul

To honour a [name_m]Harold[/name_m], maybe [name_m]Henry[/name_m] with the nickname [name_m]Harry[/name_m]?

I really like [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], as well. [name_m]Leo[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Harold[/name_m], if you don’t mind two middles?

I think [name_m]Floyd[/name_m] is awesome. DBF and I are planning to honour a [name_m]Harold[/name_m] with our first by just calling him [name_m]Harry[/name_m], but that’s what [name_m]Harold[/name_m] went by. [name_m]Floyd[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] sounds nice. Or [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Floyd[/name_m] or [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m].
