What do you think of the name [name_f]Eda[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Ida[/name_f] and [name_f]Ada[/name_f], but [name_f]Ida[/name_f] is too old lady for a fn and I don’t like that [name_f]Ada[/name_f] is an A name, A names just don’t sit well with me. I like [name_u]Eden[/name_u] but it’s kind of trendy these days and too popular for my kid. I think [name_f]Eda[/name_f] might be a cool combination if the different styles I like. What do you think of [name_f]Eda[/name_f]? Middle name suggestions?
I prefer [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_u]Eden[/name_u], and [name_f]Ida[/name_f] i think. [name_m]Just[/name_m] making sure you know, it’s a Turkish name pronounced [name_m]ED[/name_m]-a, not EE-da.
My name is [name_f]Sheilah[/name_f] and your pronunciation of [name_f]Eda[/name_f] is how I pronounced my name before I could say it properly, so to me it sounds… unfinished? I think I could get on board with it as a nickname but I’m not feeling it as a full name.
[name_f]Eda[/name_f] is a name I have thought about for a while, having come across it on lists of medieval names. It is related to names such as [name_f]Edith[/name_f] and [name_m]Edel[/name_m] I think. I find it a smart and stylish option that fits current styles but still has history and is unusual.
Also, what about [name_f]Idun[/name_f]? A Norse name which I think is pronounced Ee-[name_u]DOON[/name_u] but open to being corrected. I knew of one that pronounced it like this.
Personally I’m not a fan of [name_f]Eda[/name_f], especially pronounced ee-duh… but I absolutely adore both [name_f]Ida[/name_f] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u] (and [name_f]Ada[/name_f]!)… as well as [name_f]Edith[/name_f] nn [name_f]Edie[/name_f].
I don’t think [name_f]Ida[/name_f] being an “old lady’s name” is an issue at all, as I suspect it will come back in like [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] currently is. I know a baby [name_f]Ida[/name_f] born just the end of last year. My only concern with using it (other than hubby’s damn vetoing!), is the current popularity of [name_f]Isla[/name_f], and that people might mis-hear it or that it’s too similar.
My mother’s cousin (f) is named [name_f]Eda[/name_f] and it’s pronounced like [name_m]ED[/name_m]-a or ET-a (she’s from somewhat Eastern Europe). Personally I love it but ee-dah not so much. But if you love it then go for it
