Hello- I’m writing here for ideas really, for naming our fourth baby.
My husband and I have three kids-
[name]Caius[/name] Millen, [name]Olive[/name] [name]Mathilde[/name], [name]Hero[/name] [name]Tabitha[/name].
We don’t really have a tactical style for choosing names- just go for what we love really.
I’m from a family of unusual names- my father was an English academic and named my brother and I accordingly for his favourite literary faces.
My husband was brought up under the Steiner school system, where names like [name]Tullia[/name] and [name]Galatea[/name] were bandied around fairly freely.
Our kids go to a Steiner school also, so the same liberties in naming are accorded by the parents there…
Having said that, I’m aware of the fact that kids need to fit in. [name]Hero[/name]‘s middle name was more carefully chosen than the others’, perhaps, as we’re conscious that she may want to use it in teenage years/at some point. We call her [name]Tabby[/name] sometimes so it wouldn’t seem such an alien choice for her if she wanted to switch.
Criteria for us are:
- Strength. All three names we’ve chosen have a certain focus and vitality for us
- Balance. I like names which have a rounded cadence. Names like [name]Evangeline[/name] for instance, for me lack the kind of shape and flow of the names I favour
- Preferably not a name beginning with C, O or H. Not a vital one if we really love the name though.
Looking forward to any suggestions you can come up with.
