My husband and I are expecting again, and while we have tons of girl name ideas, we are at a loss for boy names. Thus, I am pretty sure there’s a boy in there.
Our son’s name is [name]Owen[/name] [name]Charles[/name]. We liked [name]Owen[/name] because it is easy to spell and pronounce and at the time it was fairly uncommon. We didn’t realize that a million [name]Owens[/name] would be born in the years after him. [name]Charles[/name] is both my husband’s and my father’s middle name. We don’t really like any other family names so we can’t start there.
Recently, I’ve like the idea of the name [name]Graham[/name], but after that we don’t have much to go on. I also like [name]Henry[/name], but our last name ends with an “ee” sound and [name]Henry[/name] -ee is a little sing-songy. I am not interested in super traditional names like [name]Matthew[/name], [name]David[/name], [name]John[/name], etc. and I despise names like [name]Brayden[/name], [name]Jaden[/name], etc., if that helps. Any suggestions?
[name]Graham[/name] is a great name and really compliments [name]Owen[/name], as well. (Popularity is my number one disqualifier and I don’t find it too popular). I also like [name]Henry[/name] but you might be right about your last name. Some others that go well with [name]Owen[/name] and have the same feeling are:
[name]Clarke[/name]
[name]Spencer[/name]
[name]Hugh[/name]
[name]Neil[/name]
Since [name]Owen[/name] is Welsh, how about another name from the British Isles?
[name]Lachlan[/name]
[name]Alastair[/name]
[name]Trevor[/name]
…are just a few possibilities
[name]Owen[/name] [name]Charles[/name] and [name]Miles[/name] [name]Graham[/name]
[name]Owen[/name] [name]Charles[/name] and [name]Griffin[/name] [name]Elliott[/name]
[name]Owen[/name] [name]Charles[/name] and [name]Isaac[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name]
[name]Owen[/name] [name]Charles[/name] and [name]Brennan[/name] [name]Reid[/name]
[name]Owen[/name] [name]Charles[/name] and [name]Beau[/name] [name]Dashiell[/name] nn Bodie ([name]Beau[/name] D)
[name]Owen[/name] [name]Charles[/name] and [name]Teague[/name] [name]Jamison[/name]
[name]Owen[/name] [name]Charles[/name] and [name]Cormac[/name] [name]Silas[/name] (nn [name]Mack[/name])
[name]Owen[/name] [name]Charles[/name] and [name]Ronan[/name] [name]Blake[/name]
[name]Owen[/name] [name]Charles[/name] and [name]Sullivan[/name] [name]Reid[/name]
[name]Owen[/name] [name]Charles[/name] and [name]Grady[/name] [name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Owen[/name] [name]Charles[/name] and [name]Flynn[/name] [name]Edward[/name]
good luck!
Not sure if you wanted to avoid another -in/-en name but there are a few that might work if you’re okay with that: [name]Ethan[/name], [name]Colin[/name], [name]Duncan[/name].
Also, not sure if you’re against another O, but [name]Oliver[/name] would be lovely.
[name]Garrett[/name]
[name]Asher[/name]
[name]Joseph[/name]
[name]Liam[/name]
I really like [name]Graham[/name] with [name]Owen[/name].
[name]Everett[/name]
[name]Rhys[/name]
[name]Callum[/name]
[name]Elliot[/name]
[name]Bennett[/name]
[name]Desmond[/name]
[name]Felix[/name]
[name]Linus[/name]
[name]Finn[/name]
[name]Malcolm[/name]
[name]Cyrus[/name]
[name]Gavin[/name]
[name]Stellan[/name]
I second the suggestions of [name]Miles[/name] and [name]Liam[/name].
My husband suggested Clark this morning. Interesting. I’m not sold on it. It just makes me think of Clark Kent. And while I’ve always liked Spencer, my husband doesn’t like it and is concerned it will become a girl name. Actually, I kind of like Hugh, but I’m not brave enough to use it.
Of some of the other suggestions, I am liking Miles, Everett, and Flynn. We also like Oliver, but don’t want to be tied down to O names. Plus, it’s gotten really popular. Liam and Joseph are family members and we would rather not name our potential son those names.
I also like Beau Dashiell, but my husband thinks I’m crazy.
Thank you for the suggestions! Please keep them coming.
Please go with [name]Graham[/name]! It’s so great. [name]Graham[/name] [name]Miles[/name] or [name]Graham[/name] [name]Henry[/name] sound great. Since your [name]Owen[/name] has a family name middle, it would be great if you could come up with a namesake for [name]Graham[/name]'s middle too. I know you said you don’t love any other family names, but what about a favorite author, fictional character, historical figure, or spiritual person?
What about [name]Grant[/name]?
Still works great with [name]Owen[/name] but might be a little more straightforward in the spelling and pronunciation department.
I think [name]Graham[/name] is a fantastic match to [name]Owen[/name]!
Other options:

[name]Graham[/name] [name]Fergus[/name]
[name]Graham[/name] [name]Finbar[/name]
[name]Graham[/name] [name]Finlay[/name]
[name]Graham[/name] [name]Jarvis[/name]

[name]Graham[/name] [name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Graham[/name] [name]Roderick[/name]
[name]Graham[/name] [name]Terence[/name]
[name]Graham[/name] [name]Tavis[/name]
[name]Graham[/name] [name]Wyatt[/name]
Here are some family names for potential middles. We aren’t in love with any of them: [name]Timothy[/name] (my husband’s name), [name]Frederick[/name], [name]Robert[/name], [name]Scott[/name], [name]John[/name], [name]Alfred[/name], Waymond, [name]Norman[/name], [name]Rufus[/name], and [name]Richard[/name].

I love [name]Timothy[/name], [name]Frederick[/name], [name]Scott[/name], and [name]Alfred[/name]! I would definitely use a family name as mn.
[name]Graham[/name] [name]Frederick[/name] is very nice!

[name]Owen[/name] and [name]Dax[/name] [name]Frederick[/name]
I also think [name]Graham[/name] is perfect! I also think Oliver would be nice too.
Thanks everyone for your input and suggestions. At the moment, I am still loving [name]Graham[/name] best and I love a lot of your middle name suggestions- particularly [name]Graham[/name] [name]Oliver[/name], [name]Graham[/name] [name]Frederick[/name], and even [name]Miles[/name] [name]Graham[/name]. My husband still isn’t big on the name yet, but I’ll keep working on him. In the meantime, I will keep scouring the Nameberry boards for some more inspiration.
I thought Waymond was incredibly interesting. If your family’s Waymond is someone you’d like to honor, I really like [name]Graham[/name] Waymond.
