Ideas for twin girl names?

hey berries!

me and my husband are really struggling with names for our soon to be born twin girls! we have a similar taste and agree on all of the names on our list, but are having trouble deciding on the perfect two! suggestions & comments would be greatly appreciated! we would also love nickname ideas, and potentially who you would picture someone with your favorite names???

cestiline (ses-till-een) dove
xanthia willow
vidia wren
lavender clarice
belletrix indie
indigo maia
fiona ash
genovive liana
sierra vale

i’m really leanings towards cestiline dove & lavender clarice, but am not sure with the middle name for lavender and am worried about the uniqueness of them both.

thanks!!

Cestiline [name_u]Dove[/name_u] – I don’t love this since it sounds a bit like incest or pestilence :frowning: I like [name_f]Celestine[/name_f] though, or [name_f]Cecily[/name_f].
[name_f]Xanthia[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] – I have never heard this before, but it’s OK. I do like [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f]. I guess it’s a little close to [name_f]Cynthia[/name_f].
Vidia [name_u]Wren[/name_u] – haven’t seen this before and it looks a little made up to me.
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f] [name_f]Clarice[/name_f] – this is pretty but I think [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] could be a hard name to wear at some stages of life.
Belletrix [name_f]Indie[/name_f] – very close to [name_f]Bellatrix[/name_f] so I would just use that.
[name_u]Indigo[/name_u] [name_f]Maia[/name_f] – pretty, very hippie vibe.
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_u]Ash[/name_u] – love [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] but [name_u]Ash[/name_u] falls a bit flat.
[name_f]Genovive[/name_f] [name_f]Liana[/name_f] – love [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]. [name_u]Haven[/name_u]'t seen this spelling before and I prefer the original as it’s more familiar.
[name_u]Sierra[/name_u] [name_u]Vale[/name_u] – the combo is maybe a little mountainous

Suggestions:

[name_f]Celestine[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u] & [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Liana[/name_f]
[name_u]Sierra[/name_u] [name_f]Juno[/name_f] & [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] [name_f]Maia[/name_f]
[name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] [name_f]Winona[/name_f] & [name_f]Bellatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Maia[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] & [name_f]Liana[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u]

I’d prefer [name_f]Celestine[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u] instead of Cestiline [name_u]Dove[/name_u]. I think it’s way nicer but yet very similar

I like [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] [name_f]Maia[/name_f] and you get [name_f]Indie[/name_f] as a nn which I love

And I like [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Liana[/name_f] (not [name_f]Genovive[/name_f])

PP’s suggestions are amazing for you I think

cestiline (ses-till-een) dove

Immediately I think of the Sistine Chapel. While the imagery is not bad, for me, this is just too much name. Dove on the other hand is so very pretty.

xanthia willow

Xanthia, again is a lot of name. It’s unusual and long. It makes me think of Xanax which is a drug used to treat anxiety and depression. Something I do like about Xanthia is how it lends itself to the nick name Thea which is so cute. I really like Willow too.

vidia wren

Vidia is a mean little air fairy on the Tinkerbelle movies. I love the sound of Vidia, and the mean fairy does end up coming around, so it isn’t exactly a “villian” name. Vidia has almost a song quality to it. While being 3 syllubles, it doesn’t feel heavy and “too much” as some longer names can be, and for ending in the ah sound, it still manages to be quite a strong sounding name. Even though it is not a classic, it kind of feels like it could be. Wren is not my favorite. However, with Vidia it does sound quit balanced.

lavender clarice

Lavander will forever make me think of Harry Potter. Lavander Brown was the girl Ron Weasley dated before Hermione Granger. I think Lavander is a pretty name. Clarice is going to always make me think of Silence of the Lambs… which i’venever even seen. It’s just that famous. Something to think about with this combination… Lavander Brown in Harrpotter died in the last book after falling from a balcony, and then being attacked/bitten by a werewolf in human form… Clarice is from famous novels and movies about cannibalism. Anyone who reads, may be slightly horrified/conflicted about this combination. Pair Lavander with one of your other middle names, and I don’t think it will be so gruesome. Even going with Claire would disconnect the association i think.

belletrix indie
Belletrix is another Harry Potter character. This one savage, and twisted. Very much a villain. However, the name itself is lovely. Harry Potter is a very famous book that will be read for a long time coming. You should decide if you want your child associating with this character or not. Indie is not my style personally. I think it is better suited for a boy. It makes me think of Indiana Jones. If your going for that adventure/khaki vibe… why not try Bindi, which is super close and associated with positive role model Bindi Irwin. Nature lover adventurist.

indigo maia

This combo screams Inigo Montoya another name from pop culture… the Princess Bride. Famouse line, “My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.” I just can’t really get behind this. I’m sorry.

fiona ash
This is a really interesting choice. Fiona, thanks to Shrek makes me think of a princess… and Ash of course makes me think of fire. So a fiery princess… Pretty neat imagery. I like this one exactly how it is. See Ginny below for the “every daughter” association, because I feel like it fits here too.

genovive liana

I think you should stick to the spelling Genevieve. But otherwise I love this first name. Ginny (another Harry Potter Name…) is a great nick name. If you have read Harry Potter and not just seen the movies, you’ll know that Ginny is kind of the daughter we all want. She is fiesty, can hold her own, athletic, still very much a girl, and just all around well balanced. Thats what i picture with Genevieve. Other nick names of course are Eve, Evie, Evia.
Liana is a name that i have gone back and forth on myself. It is very similair to Game of Throne’s Lyanna which is used for 2 characters… it’s still on going so I won’t give spoilers, but so far both Lyanna’s seem to be nice name sakes. Together this name seems very long and heavy. Personally, would pull Liana from the middle name spot, and consider it for a first name.

Sierra vale

Sierra is one of those names that no matter how many times you hear it, it will always be beautiful. It’s naturey, familiar, feminine rugged. Like, i could imagine a gorgeous woman giving rafting tours in Colorado named Sierra. Would definitely make a great name for the heroine of an adventure packed romance movie. Isn’t that what we all want? A romantic adventure packed life? So pretty. I don’t really think Vale does justice for Sierra. What about Sierra Dawn? Or Sierra Dove from the first name you picked? So pretty.

So, if I may…

Vidia Wren
Lavander Claire (Lavander Willow, Lavander Esme, Lavander Kit)
Fiona Ash (Fiona Gray)
Genevieve Willow (Genevieve Gray)
Liana Wren (Liana Dove)
Sierra Dove (Sierra Dawn)

Twin sets:

Vidia and Genevieve
Fiona and Genevieve
Sierra and Fiona
Sierra and Vidia
Vidia and Lavender
Lavander and Liana
Genevieve and Liana

Sierra and Genevieve (Only reason why this is last, is because Sierra is so stunning, and Ginny while i love it, seems a little more plain, and would likely be used a lot more than her whole name… I think Genevieve is gorgeous and stands up to Sierra well, but Ginny maybe would be over shadowed. Sierra and Eve perhaps would be better suited, but i don’t know. I love Ginny so much. )

Cestiline [name_u]Dove[/name_u]- Cestiline looks like it will likely get mistaken for [name_f]Celestine[/name_f] (which I think has a more pleasant sound.)

[name_f]Xanthia[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f]- I love this! I think that would go beautifully with [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] [name_f]Clarice[/name_f]. If you aren’t 100% sure on [name_f]Willow[/name_f] you coukd okayvaround more with other middles, but I do think it’s so pretty here.

Vidia [name_u]Wren[/name_u]- this is a lovely combo! I coukd see it pairing nicely with [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_u]Ash[/name_u].

[name_f]Lavender[/name_f] [name_f]Clarice[/name_f]- I really like this one! I know a lot of people find this one to be a gp name but honestly it falls in line with other flower names or herb names. [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] doesn’t seem any stranger than [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] or [name_f]Saffron[/name_f] to me. It’s pretty and unexpected but not unfamiliar.

Belletrix [name_f]Indie[/name_f]- the [name_f]Bella[/name_f] spelling is more familiar but I don’t think it’s an issue. I don’t really care for [name_f]Indie[/name_f] and especialky not with Belletrix, particularly because I like the idea of Belletrix and [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] as a sibset.

[name_u]Indigo[/name_u] [name_f]Maia[/name_f]- as a previous posted said, this one gives a bit of a boho vibe. It is a cute combo though, and I think with the right middle on Belletrix could make for a great twin sister set.

[name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_u]Ash[/name_u]- I like this combo mire than I thought I would. [name_u]Ash[/name_u] brings a little bit of attitude to the frillier [name_f]Fiona[/name_f].

[name_f]Genovive[/name_f] [name_f]Liana[/name_f]- not keen on the spelling (my phone keeps trying to auto correct it to genocide) or the middle choice, though [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is a great name!
With the right middle [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] would work wonderfully with a number of your other names; [name_f]Lavender[/name_f], Vidia, [name_f]Xanthia[/name_f], Belletrix, they’d all be good with sister [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]!

[name_u]Sierra[/name_u] [name_u]Vale[/name_u]- this is honestly gorgeous. I’ve never been a huge fan of [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] but it is lovely and something about pairing it with [name_u]Vale[/name_u] really elevates the entire name. I love it!
[name_u]Sierra[/name_u] [name_u]Vale[/name_u] would be darling with Vidia [name_u]Wren[/name_u], [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_u]Ash[/name_u], and would be Excellent with [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] (either [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] [name_f]Maia[/name_f] or possibly a different middle.)

Overall, my favorite pairing currently would be [name_f]Xanthia[/name_f] and [name_f]Lavender[/name_f]! My second choice woukd be [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], and my third would be Belletrix/[name_f]Bellatrix[/name_f] and [name_f]Genovive[/name_f]/[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f].

Vidia [name_u]Wren[/name_u] & [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] [name_f]Clarice[/name_f] would be stunning! I love how both Vidia and [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] are both 3 syllable names with a -v- in them, and both very unusual without being too over the top. Their short, grounded middle names add the perfect touch.

Lots of good feedback so far. I agree that your favorite names themselves are unexpected enough that I prefer the more traditional versions and spellings:

[name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_u]Ash[/name_u] & [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Liana[/name_f]
[name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] & [name_f]Siena[/name_f] [name_u]Vale[/name_u]
[name_f]Celestine[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u] & [name_f]Lavender[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
