Ideas? Help!

[name]Hi[/name]! I’m having a girl in mid [name]December[/name] and I’m unsure about a name. We have lots of ideas but none of them seem like THE ONE. Here is what we have kicked around. Tell me what you think and give me new ideas!! Thanks! We don’t want anything real crazy but also nothing really popular. I am also not a fan of trendy names, I prefer classic.

Names I love, my husband hates:
[name]Beatrice[/name] nn [name]Bea[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name]
[name]Eliza[/name]
[name]Harriet[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name]/[name]Cora[/name]/[name]Coralie[/name]
[name]Georgina[/name]
[name]Orla[/name]
[name]Ramona[/name]
[name]Lucia[/name]

Names I love but worry they are too popular:
[name]Eleanor[/name] nn [name]Nora[/name]
[name]Iris[/name]
[name]Violet[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Emily[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name]

Names I’m not sure of:
[name]Frances[/name]
[name]Irene[/name]
[name]Lena[/name]
[name]Louise[/name]
[name]Marianne[/name]
[name]Margot[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name]
Joannah
[name]Rosemary[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]
[name]Colette[/name]

I picked my favorites from each section:

[name]Cordelia[/name]/[name]Cora[/name]/[name]Coralie[/name]
[name]Lucia[/name]

[name]Violet[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name]

[name]Lena[/name] -I love this name!
[name]Susannah[/name]

[name]Georgina[/name]
[name]Orla[/name]
[name]Ramona[/name]
[name]Lucia[/name]
I would not name your daughter any name that your husband hates. I have personal experience because my father hated my given name. I ended up changing it.

Names I love but worry they are too popular:
[name]Eleanor[/name] nn [name]Nora[/name] - this isn’t that popular, I don’t think
[name]Iris[/name] - not too popular
[name]Violet[/name] - I think this will get popular.
[name]Josephine[/name] - I don’t think this will get super popular
[name]Emily[/name] -too popular
[name]Annabel[/name] - this is great. Not too popular.
[name]Louisa[/name] - not too popular, love nn [name]Lulu[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name] -ditto, love nn [name]Maisie[/name]

Names I’m not sure of:
[name]Frances[/name] - love! love the nn’s, especially [name]Francie[/name]
[name]Irene[/name] - love, it’s Greek and means peace
[name]Lena[/name] - love, but not as much as [name]Francie[/name]
[name]Louise[/name] - love Loisa more
[name]Marianne[/name] - love some of the others more
[name]Margot[/name] - ditto
[name]Susannah[/name] - love, what do you think of [name]Sanna[/name], look it up on “check out a name”. [name]Sanna[/name] could be a nn for [name]Susannah[/name].
Joannah - love, but I would spell it [name]Joanna[/name]
[name]Rosemary[/name] - love, love nn [name]Romy[/name]
[name]Willa[/name] - like
[name]Colette[/name] - love, love nn [name]Coco[/name]

Also:
[name]Cecily[/name]/[name]Cecilia[/name]
[name]Daphne[/name]
[name]Evelyn[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name]
[name]Helena[/name] nn [name]Nell[/name]
[name]Jacqueline[/name]
[name]Leonora[/name] nn [name]Nora[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name] nn [name]Tilda[/name] or [name]Tillie[/name]
[name]Ottilie[/name]
[name]Paloma[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name]
[name]Veronica[/name]
[name]Vivian[/name]

I have to echo [name]Susan[/name] on this one when it comes to the names in the middle–most aren’t all that widely used at the moment (with the exception of [name]Emily[/name]), and are lovely choices. Of the “not sure” list, I like [name]Colette[/name], [name]Margot[/name], and [name]Susanna[/name] the best.

I [name]LOVE[/name] your list!

(Your husband hates the following, so I’ll skip them…):

[name]Beatrice[/name] nn [name]Bea[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name]
[name]Eliza[/name]
[name]Harriet[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name]/[name]Cora[/name]/[name]Coralie[/name]
[name]Georgina[/name]
[name]Orla[/name]
[name]Ramona[/name]
[name]Lucia[/name]

[name]Eleanor[/name] nn [name]Nora[/name]: With the [name]Nora[/name] nickname, I think it feels fresh!

[name]Iris[/name]: I love this name, too!

[name]Violet[/name]: Like [name]Susan[/name], I can see [name]Violet[/name] becoming popular, but I still love it as a middle name.

[name]Josephine[/name]: I love it, and think that [name]Josie[/name] and [name]Posy[/name] are adorable nicknames.

[name]Emily[/name]: This one is too popular for me. It was number one for years (I think it’s #4 now), and now [name]Emma[/name], another [name]Em[/name] name, is #1. (I do love [name]Emmeline[/name], though…)

[name]Annabel[/name]: One of my favorites! It does have the popular [name]Belle[/name] ending (at least in sound), but it’s still ranked in the 100’s, which (at least for me), isn’t too bad.

[name]Louisa[/name]: One of my favorites, too, and isn’t popular. (It isn’t even in the top 1000.)

[name]Margaret[/name]: [name]Margaret[/name] is only #180 now, which may or may not be too popular for you. I think it feels fresh on a baby, and I love the [name]Maisie[/name], [name]Mae[/name], and [name]Daisy[/name] nicknames.

Names I’m not sure of:
[name]Frances[/name]: I adore [name]Frances[/name]!

[name]Irene[/name]: I’m not personally a fan of [name]Irene[/name] or names that end in an -een sound, but that’s just me.

[name]Lena[/name]: I think it’s pretty, and love it as a nickname for [name]Helena[/name]. That said, I’ve heard it pronounced as [name]Lee[/name]-na and [name]Lay[/name]-na, so pronunciation issues may arise.

[name]Louise[/name]: I think it’s very pretty. (I personally prefer [name]Louisa[/name], though…)

[name]Marianne[/name]: This one feels dated to me, although I love [name]Mary[/name], [name]Marielle[/name], and [name]Mariana[/name].

[name]Margot[/name]: I love it, and it can also be a nickname for [name]Margaret[/name].

[name]Susannah[/name]: [name]LOVE[/name], and I think that [name]Annie[/name], Zannah, and [name]Sunny[/name] are darling nicknames.

Joannah: I like [name]Joanna[/name], but not with the h at the end. (I’ve never seen it with an h.)

[name]Rosemary[/name]: I think this is beautiful, and I love [name]Rose[/name], too.

[name]Willa[/name]: [name]LOVE[/name]!

[name]Colette[/name]: I think that [name]Colette[/name] is gorgeous, too.

I love your lists!

Best wishes to you!

I ditto the other posters here, but have to say I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name]/[name]Harriet[/name]/[name]Eliza[/name]/[name]Penelope[/name] - you have great naming taste! Too bad husbands don’t always share it! I wonder what region (if U.S.) or country (if not U.S.) you live in which might affect popularity. Only [name]Emily[/name] is super popular from your middle list, with [name]Annabel[/name] and perhaps [name]Nora[/name]/[name]Eleanor[/name] also becoming popular where I am (southern U.S.). I know a few [name]Nora[/name]'s where I live (my 4 year old son suggested [name]Nora[/name] for this baby, and I noted we already had a friend named nora and his response was “Why not two friends named [name]Nora[/name]?”). I’m curious whether [name]Louisa[/name] is popular where you are since that’s what we’re probably going to use if this is a girl . . . From your last list, [name]Irene[/name] is the only name I can say I’m not wild about. What about [name]Inez[/name]? Someone in my office just said she wants a granddaughter with that name in honor of an ancestor, and I thought it sounded like something ready for a comeback (and maybe its already on its way - I never thought to look).
