Ideas to Jazz up Anne

For those of you who have seen my other post about [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], I am still working on convincing my partner… He’s just not familiar with the name and I’m not sure I can get him there.

I do not agree with his thinking but I have to respect it. He thinks general society will mess up [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and it would give her a lifetime of frustration. I don’t agree. I am [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] and people find a way to mess that up, so it is just something you have to accept there is a chance of…

With all that being said, is there a way to make [name_u]Anne[/name_u] T0dd work? Maybe with a long middle name? I think [name_f]Greer[/name_f] would be out, that is the middle we wanted to use but trying to think of how to make [name_u]Anne[/name_u] a possibility. I do not care for [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] or [name_f]Anna[/name_f], and [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] (and variants) are too close to [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] (my older daughter’s name) imho.

I think [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is familiar enough, especially since it’s a place name.

What about [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_f]Annette[/name_f], [name_f]Anya[/name_f], [name_f]Anais[/name_f]?

Does he know [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is number 305 in the popularity charts? That might help. A good idea might also be to watch a show with him with a character in it called [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] - that always helps me think of a name as familiar. If neither of those work there’s not much you can do.
I think [name_u]Anne[/name_u] [name_m]Todd[/name_m] works, though it’s not ideal. I love the previous poster’s suggestions.

Maybe [name_f]Annette[/name_f] or [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]? I love the suggestion of [name_f]Anya[/name_f]!

I find [name_u]Anne[/name_u] to be far fresher than any of it’s numerous variations. I think that the way to make [name_u]Anne[/name_u] work is with a longer middle name. [name_f]Greer[/name_f] might be too short and mono-syllabic, but you could do a double middle name, if you really are set on [name_f]Greer[/name_f].

ETA: Anne Greer Todd, feels a bit choppy, but Anne Todd feels less so. I know that in previous posts you mentioned liking Charlotte, but it being too popular. Anne Charlotte Todd makes a nice combo. With Anne, you could still call her Anya or Annie if you wish to do so.
I feel that Anne pairs especially well with your son’s name: Marshall. Marshall, Eliza, and Anne.

How about [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f] or even [name_f]Arabella[/name_f].
[name_f]Antionette[/name_f]
Anaïs
Anitta
Antonia
Angelica

How about [name_f]Anouk[/name_f]? [name_f]Anouk[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] are adorable? Or maybe [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]?

I love [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]! It has some great nn options too: Dela, [name_f]Addie[/name_f], [name_f]Laidy[/name_f] / Laidybug :beetle::smiling_face_with_three_hearts: No matter what you name your baby someone is going to mess it up, it’s pretty inevitable IMO. Might as well use what you love!

I think [name_u]Anne[/name_u] [name_m]Todd[/name_m] is fine. [name_u]Anne[/name_u] is a regal name.

I can’t think how one could mispronounce [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], but ah well…

I can’t remember if you love [name_u]Anne[/name_u] or [name_f]Greer[/name_f] more for a first?

Amabel? [name_f]Annora[/name_f]? [name_u]Antonia[/name_u]?\

Good luck!

@kmdharrington - I totally agree on [name_u]Anne[/name_u] being fresher! [name_u]Anne[/name_u] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is a great suggestion, thank you! And agree too on [name_u]Anne[/name_u] and [name_m]Marshall[/name_m] - and [name_m]Marshall[/name_m], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], and [name_f]Annie[/name_f] together is :heartpulse:

@tallemaja - Yes I have told him about [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]’s ranking but he just kinda looks at me puzzled! I had thought he was more flexible on names, but now that it is coming down to it he is sharing more opinions and he is sort of looking for a unicorn… a name where he has known of several but not people he has strong associations about!

@ethelmary - I love [name_f]Annie[/name_f], but partner won’t go for just [name_f]Annie[/name_f], thinks she needs a “real” name.

@Harvest-Endellion - agree I don’t think it would be a name people mispronounce, he is worried about spelling and just a general lack of familiarity with the name. I don’t agree and don’t care but am trying to fairly consider his perspective :smirk:

How about [name_f]Annis[/name_f]?

Hmm perhaps you could combine it with another name such as [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_u]Anne[/name_u] or [name_u]Anne[/name_u]-[name_f]Grace[/name_f] or [name_u]Anne[/name_u]-[name_f]Belle[/name_f] or [name_u]Anne[/name_u]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_u]Anne[/name_u]-[name_f]May[/name_f] . idk just an idea :woman_shrugging:t3: !

I love [name_u]Anne[/name_u]! [name_f]My[/name_f] next favourites are [name_f]Anneke[/name_f] and [name_f]Anouk[/name_f]. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is derived from [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. And then there’s [name_f]Ada[/name_f] or [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] of course. Or even [name_f]Aveline[/name_f]?
