Identical girl twins - Indiana & Georgia as names

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] guys! I am due identical girl twins in [name_f]October[/name_f]. I love the names [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] and [name_u]Indiana[/name_u]. ([name_f]Gigi[/name_f] and [name_f]Indy[/name_f]) for nicknames. I am Persian/British and live in the Uk. The middle names will be Persian. [name_m][/name_m]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it matters that they happen to both be American states? I don’t think it is as relevant living in Europe but was interested in case people thought it was silly. Any feedback appreciated

Hey there, first of all congratulations on twins! The names you have chosen sound lovely together ” I am from the UK & I did not notice that the names are American states until you pointed it out, so I don’t think it will be too much of a problem here.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

Well, I’m in the U.S., so it seems weird to me. But seems like people in the UK don’t notice. I like [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] & [name_f]Indy[/name_f] a lot, but can I recommend [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] & [name_u]Indigo[/name_u]? [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] is so pretty!

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

I think people in the UK would get the state association but i don’t think it’s too big a deal.

I recognised them as state names, but I also decided to memprise the 50 states when I was about 12. I think most people in the UK would be unaware that at least one was a state, or not think that far. [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] is a fairly common name, and while [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] is less common, it’s definitely not unheard of.
Personally I’d find it slightly humourous at first, but the link in the UK is subtle, so wouldnt think much more of it. I’d say go for those names if you love them.

[name_f]Georgia[/name_f] and [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] actually make a beautiful pairing for twins. I don’t think the US state thing is too big of an issue, I’ve met sisters here in [name_u]North[/name_u] [name_u]America[/name_u] named [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] ([name_f]Savannah[/name_f], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] is a city in the state).

Congrats!
Follow [name_u]Brit[/name_u] here and I noticed it straightaway tbh I think it’s a bit cheesy. I love the suggestion of [name_u]Indigo[/name_u] I think that’s pretty you still get the [name_f]Indy[/name_f] nickname but without the state references.

I live in the UK and if I heard of twins named [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] I would immediately assume they were named after the American states. To me, it does sound a bit cheesy.

I’m in the US and the state thing jumped out at me but I don’t think it’s really a problem. I think the names are really cute together. It works because [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] isn’t just a US state. [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] and [name_f]Florida[/name_f] would be more on the nose for example.

I’m Canadian and didn’t notice until you pointed out that they’re both states, likely because I think of [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] as a name first and foremost. And if they go mostly by their nicknames, most people will never make the connection. Use the names you love!

I like [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] and [name_f]Indy[/name_f] a lot gorgeous for twins! I love [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] but prefer [name_f]India[/name_f] or [name_f]Indira[/name_f] to [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] because I feel like those names better match the style of [name_f]Georgia[/name_f].

Thank you guys for the feedback. I just love the names both individually and together along with [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] and [name_f]Indy[/name_f] but am a little wary of it being cheesy. ([name_m]Even[/name_m] though many of you said just go for it!) [name_m]How[/name_m] about if it was spelt [name_f]Indianna[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]? I actually have some American [name_f]Indian[/name_f] ancestry too!

Tbh my first thought was [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] (the country)… And if they go by [name_f]Indy[/name_f] and [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] it would be less obvious. Plus, they won’t be always together or saying they have a twin named [name_u]Indiana[/name_u]/[name_f]Georgia[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] and [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] as a pair. For [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], you could also use [name_f]Gia[/name_f] as a nickname. You could also consider [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_f]Savannah[/name_f] (southern cities) or [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] (state).

I’m an American so I made the state connection immediately. I like both names but together, especially for twins, they feel a bit cheesy. It seems more like you were going for a theme rather than names you like. Nothing wrong with that, but the names suggest a pattern rather than a style for me.

ETA: it’s a no from me on [name_f]Indianna[/name_f]. That just looks like [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] spelled wrong.
