I am currently 20 weeks pregnant with Identical twin girls. They are number 5 &6! We are having such a difficult time with names this go around.
Oldest I raised but she is my step daughter so didn’t name: Sydney-20 Then I have Co!lin- 13 Then boy girl twins Dev!n (J@mie) & Juli@na- 11.
We really want these girls to have their own unique identity even though they are twins. We don’t want matchy names but they should still connect.
We are set with the middle names Pearl and Opal for each of our grandmothers. Each of our children have some honor connection either with their first or middle.
We really like the name Carys and Octavia but Carys doesn’t seem to fit right.
What names go well with Octavia? I am pretty sure that will be our second born twin as it means 8th and she will be the 8th member of the family.
We like but won’t use Corrina, Elodie and I love Linnea but husband has a bad association with Lynn.
Thanks so much for your help. I really want to get this right.
I love [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] and think [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] and [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] make a fantastic twin set!

[name_f]Carys[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] and [name_f]Greer[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Cosima[/name_f] & [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] are so nice together, I second that suggestion! [name_f]Cosima[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] and [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] [name_f]Opal[/name_f]! I also like suggestion of [name_f]Calista[/name_f]
My husband loves [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]! He smiled when I read that you suggested it. I just don’t want it shortened to [name_u]Cory[/name_u] and I prefer [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] but he doesn’t like that. I like a lot of the suggestions but many I can’t use because others close to me have.
Since [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] is a [name_m]Roman[/name_m] name (and so is [name_f]Juliana[/name_f], for that matter), I would go with another name with the same origin. Like:
I love [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] and [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] together!
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f] and [name_f]Calliope[/name_f]
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f] and Avonlea
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f] and Elinora
Since you both like [name_f]Coralie[/name_f], her nn could be [name_f]Cora[/name_f] instead of [name_u]Cory[/name_u].
Also, from your idea of [name_f]Carys[/name_f], what about Chryseis? I think it flows better/matches stylistically with [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] than short, sweet [name_f]Carys[/name_f].
As a twin, I’d make sure the first twin (the fifth kid/ seventh in your pack) has something in her first name that can also be part of a story. It won’t matter when they’re older but when they’re young twins very concerned with equal distribution of love and attention including family tales about names!
[name_f]Carys[/name_f] has such a beautiful meaning, should add!
I’ve never seen Chryseis. [name_m]How[/name_m] is that pronounced?
eloiset- I understand your point and have seen that first hand with my 11 year old twins. It’s why I like [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] which means twin flower but I don’t think I can get my husband past his negative association with [name_u]Lynn[/name_u].
This is very difficult! I have looked at thousands of names and none seem quite right.
For what it’s worth, [name_f]Septima[/name_f] means 7, so you could use [name_f]Septima[/name_f] and [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] for your seventh and eighth, I also love the names [name_f]Odette[/name_f] and Olenna. If you don’t like the matching first letters, [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f], [name_f]Elise[/name_f], and [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] are all cute. Best of luck!
I love the name [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] and disagree that her twin needs to be called [name_f]Septima[/name_f] or something to keep a theme, when you have already said you aim for each name to be unique and not too matchy. I do think that it would be interesting to continue the subtle pattern of Latin originated names you have with your daughters.
Suggestions: [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] or [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Flavia[/name_f], [name_f]Livia[/name_f], [name_f]Serena[/name_f], [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], [name_f]Alba[/name_f], [name_f]Alma[/name_f] (on my list for my own daughter), [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], [name_f]Camille[/name_f] or [name_f]Camilla[/name_f], [name_f]Celeste[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Gloria[/name_f], [name_f]Laura[/name_f] or [name_f]Laurel[/name_f], [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f], [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]…
As for @southern.maple’s question on how you can know twins are identical before birth/in utero, it’s quite simple. Through the ultrasound the doctor or technician will be able to determine if the twins are carried in one or two placentas. If one placenta it means they are identical, if two, fraternal.
[name_f]Cosima[/name_f] is adorable and I love [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] too! I back the suggestion of [name_m]Roman[/name_m] names, really seems to be the underlying theme.
What about [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Carys[/name_f]? Still the hard C- sound and also the goddess of poetry. With a bit more length and weight.
I also like:
[name_f]Andromeda[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
Mariamne
[name_f]Laetitia[/name_f]
Phaenna
[name_f]Eulalia[/name_f]
[name_f]Minerva[/name_f]
[name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]
What about a name like [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]/[name_f]Felicienne[/name_f] that symbolizes ‘luck’ for number 7?
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] are both 4 syllables and of similar feel to me.
@norah.f
I didn’t mean that the OP needs to use [name_f]Septima[/name_f] in order to use [name_f]Octavia[/name_f], I just thought they may enjoy the connection between the meanings. If the connection it too “matchy”, I suggested the other names as alternatives to [name_f]Septima[/name_f], not to [name_f]Octavia[/name_f]. I think all the names I listed would be lovely with [name_f]Octavia[/name_f].
