I like [name_u]Abby[/name_u] and [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] together!
I think they sound nice together! [name_u]Abby[/name_u] and [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] are very sweet.
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f] & [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] are sweet
Lovely
This may be different in your area (I live in Canada) but to my ear, both names are pretty dated, especially [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f]. All of the Jennifers I know are in their 30s or older, and it was very popular for a very long time. To me, it isn’t time for [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] to make a resurgence yet. I would go with another “Jen”-sounding name to get to [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] as a nickname - [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Geneva[/name_f], [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]? [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] with [name_f]Gem[/name_f] as a nickname, if that worked.
Abigail/Abby was also very popular about 10-15(?) years ago here - less so than [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] was in its heyday, but it doesn’t feel fresh to me. There are several Adeline/Addison spelling variations as well as [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] that could get to the nickname [name_f]Addie[/name_f], which is more current, or there’s [name_f]Annie[/name_f], which is more timeless.
They go great together!
Thanks for the insight and suggestions! We have a pretty wide and diverse social circle and actually only know 1 [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] (12 years old) and 1 [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] (Mom). We’re on the [name_u]East[/name_u] coast USA. I’d be interested to hear other people’s experiences with how popular these names are in their real life
They work well together! [name_u]Abby[/name_u] and [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] are both sweet!!
I like both names & nicknames! I think the style matches well. I think [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] “Abby” is quite a bit more popular these days than [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] “Jenny”, but I don’t think that really an issue.
Both are definitely very popular. I couldn’t even keep track of how many Jen’s and Jennifer’s I know. All are between ages 30-65. The Abby’s I know are more like 10-35. I still think they’re well-matched and sweet, but @oregano7 is right that neither are very current.
It works together.
[name_f]Beautiful[/name_f] choices, [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] and [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] pair really nicely.
I know a ton of Jennifers, all in their 30s. It was an extremely popular name in the 80s. That said, I dont understand why a name that was once common would be an issue now. Its not common now and would probably be refreshing. I struggle to understand how names get “dated.” I feel like they just recycle in popularity. For example, [name_f]Rose[/name_f] would have been an old lady name in the 80s and [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] was all the rage but now it has switched. The trends change is all. For the record though, I dont think [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] is an “old lady” name just a name popular now for ladies in their 30s. But in a sea of Olivias, Emmas and Auroras, [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] could be distinct and refreshing! At least that’s my opinion!
I’m not sure where [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] stands in terms of dated or not. Its a classic name but I’ve only known a couple “Abbys” ever. I think [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] and [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] are similar in style and work nicely together for twin sisters!
I think [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] and [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] are sweet together ! I am a big fan of using names you love and I really love the sentiment behind Jennifer’s name.
I think [name_u]Abby[/name_u] and [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] are both classics and while [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] had a hay day in the 80’s and 90’s I think it would be fresh now . [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] specifically has gone from a top ten to being ranked 996 in 2017 and has since fallen out of the top 1000. In 2020 [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] was only used as a name in the US 699 times. So I would say it’s pretty low in popularity and she would likely not have another [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] in her class.
I know a lot of Jen’s Jenny’s Jenna’s and Jennifer’s but they are all approximately my age. I believe the youngest one I know was born in 2008
I know a lot of Abigail’s too but they seem to vary in age from 25-2 . According to the SSA [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] is still pretty popular and last year ranked within the top 15 names with 7817 births . In the past 20 years it has not really deviated from a top name ( much like [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] in its hay day) . [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] will likely grow up with other Abby’s
I certainly appreciate both names because there is some awesome nickname potential. They are both commonly recognized and pretty easily spelled.
If your looking for suggestions ( which I don’t think you need because I love [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] and [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] for you)
[name_u]Antonia[/name_u] - popularity wise [name_u]Antonia[/name_u] ranks similarly to [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] (996 in 2016 before it fell out of the top 1000) it is also starts with an A like [name_f]Abigail[/name_f]
[name_f]Judith[/name_f] - currently ranked 903 and in 2020 only 283 girls were named [name_f]Judith[/name_f]. [name_f]Judith[/name_f] will likely ( with Jennifer) be the only one in her class with this name. I am crushing on [name_u]Jude[/name_u] , [name_u]Edi[/name_u], [name_f]Judy[/name_f] as nicknames ( and some people don’t like alliteration but I do ) [name_f]Judith[/name_f] and [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] are super sweet together
[name_f]Natasha[/name_f]- also a name that is lingering just inside the top 1000. I am bias because it’s my sisters name but I absolutely adore [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] and [name_f]Natasha[/name_f]. They are comparable in the popularity ran, they both are long names with cute nicknames and I think they feel fresh and familiar. I have known Natasha’s with nicknames [name_f]Tash[/name_f], [name_f]Tasha[/name_f] , [name_f]Atty[/name_f] , [name_u]Nat[/name_u] , [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] , [name_f]Asha[/name_f]
I hope this was helpful . Ultimately go with what you love !!! Goodluck in your naming journey !
