If I can't have Adele...stuck for baby names!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]
Trying to choose a name for our baby. I thought we were pretty settled on [name_f]Adele[/name_f] but now it seems my husband is not so keen :weary:

I’d say our style is sweet and simple, feminine but not too frilly, traditional but not OTT old lady names…other names we both like are [name_f]Ida[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_u]Fern[/name_u], [name_u]Zoe[/name_u]
(but I want to use [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] as a middle which means [name_f]Ida[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] are out - and I don’t think I love [name_u]Fern[/name_u] or [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] enough to use them)

I also love [name_f]Carys[/name_f], [name_f]Elise[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] but s- ending names don’t work with our surname

Husband suggested [name_f]Petra[/name_f] the other day which I’m still mulling over but again doesn’t work with [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] as a middle…so many nice girls names end with an A!

So far nothing has stuck with me like [name_f]Adele[/name_f] so v grateful for any suggestions!

First thought was [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]? Also has a lovely starry meaning.

[name_f]Cybele[/name_f], [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], [name_f]Ishbel[/name_f] (Isobel), [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] (might be too frilly), [name_f]Amabel[/name_f], [name_u]Pascale[/name_u]

,

[name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Della[/name_f], maybe [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]?

Maybe…

This is similar to my own style. It’s lovely to see Sarah too, though tricky to work with as a middle name. I have some sweet and simple suggestions that don’t end in ‘a’.

Instead of Adele, how about these names that remind me of the name:

Mabel Sarah*
Estelle Sarah
Camille Sarah*
Delphine Sarah
Daphne Sarah*
Adelaide Sarah (nn Daisy)*
Idamae Sarah
Ismay Sarah
Astrid Sarah
Edith Sarah*
Esther Sarah*
Elodie Sarah*
Amelie Sarah*
Helen Sarah*
Helena Sarah (the English pronunciation could work well - Helen-uh)*
Harriet Sarah
Ingrid Sarah*
Maeve Sarah*
Chloe Sarah
Heather Sarah*
Phoebe Sarah*
Philippa Sarah*
Valerie Sarah* (these also match so well stylistically)
Eve Sarah*
Ella Sarah (could be good if last name is long)

*better flow to me, but it all depends on your last name and I think unless it’s truly absurd, it’s always good to use the honour second with the first name you love even if it’s a little clunky.

Cielle (French word ciel means sky; heaven). [name_f]Celine[/name_f] (French meaning sky; heaven).

[name_f]Adele[/name_f] is very gorgeous! It’s a middle name for someone very dear to me and I always loved it. Very sweet, chic, elegant and just beautiful. She pronounces it as Adeelé. I would still use it, I’m sure he comes around. [name_u]Or[/name_u] he will get used to it.:blush::+1:

Maybe

[name_f]Annette[/name_f]
[name_f]Delia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]

[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Agnes[/name_f]
[name_f]Gloria[/name_f]

[name_f]Inger[/name_f]
[name_f]Ida[/name_f] +
[name_f]Idalia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]

Let me first just say, I think [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] is absolutely beautiful as a middle to first names that end in “a”. I wouldn’t hesitate at all, unless it rhymed like [name_f]Clara[/name_f] or [name_f]Tara[/name_f]. So I will still be suggesting some, along with names that don’t end in “a”.

I agree that ending in a should still work with [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]. Differing the syllable count may help.

[name_f]Isabel[/name_f]
[name_u]Adair[/name_u]
[name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f]
[name_f]Rachel[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]

You could also hyphenate [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] with another name if that gives you more options! (Sarah-Jane for example)

[name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]?
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]?
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]?
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]?
[name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]?
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]?
