A (possibly) fun little challenge I came up with today at work!
Let’s pretend my mum had come to NB looking for a name when she was naming me (or my brother)
What would you have suggested based on this criteria and information?
Some criteria:
familiar but not overly popular
shouldn’t be easily confused with other similar names/variants (ie. Sophie/Sophia, Noelle/Noel)
a name that isn’t automatically nicknamed (not a deal breaker)
should work with her surname which would be baby’s surname (two syllables, begins with a hard C), but also father’s surname (two syllables, begins with R, a word) as it might be baby’s name in future
names that are a no: [name_m]Caleb[/name_m], [name_m]Kane[/name_m], [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
father is no help whatsoever. I lie. he’s put forward a single suggestion and that suggestion is [name_m]Corwin[/name_m]. my ma hates it. my father is fine and happy for my ma to make a decision
no honours need to be considered
[name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to suggest just girls’ names, boys and girls names, or, if you prefer, imagining she’s come to NB for ideas for baby#2, to join older sister [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].

This is such a fun challenge! Your mom has great taste in names! Grey/Greyson and [name_u]Layne[/name_u] are so cool and unexpected. (The singular suggestion of [name_m]Corwin[/name_m] is cracking me up lol)
he still brings up [name_m]Corwin[/name_m] every now and then

I will have to run all these by my mum at some point, see what she thinks!! Thank you

(Corwin is kind of fun, I have secretly thought - not my mum’s vibe at all but definitely my dad’s. We could have been [name_u]Raven[/name_u] and [name_m]Corwin[/name_m]? [name_u]Mina[/name_u] and [name_m]Corwin[/name_m]? [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] and Corwin?)
Just here to comment on this because how cool is your dad’s taste in names! Raven and Corwin? Literally main characters energy right there in a witchy movie or something and I’m all for it

[name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], [name_u]Hazel[/name_u], [name_f]Lana[/name_f], [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] (so, she picked this for our most recent guinea pig, so I’m thinking she might like this?), [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] and [name_m]Ferris[/name_m] are fabulous!! Oh, and [name_u]Quentin[/name_u] - I actually remember her liking that from a book we read - and I think it would appeal to my father Thank you again!
