If not Dahlia, India or back to the drawing board?

After being reminded of the horror of the [name_m]Black[/name_m] [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] homicide, and reading from honest people that the name does remind them of it even if it happened decades ago, the name seems less attractive and more problematic. The episode is something I wouldn’t want anywhere near our child, even if it just comes in passing and no one mentions it.

Our other winning name is [name_f]India[/name_f]. Before reaching [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] vs. [name_f]India[/name_f] we were also considering [name_f]Natalia[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], [name_f]Constance[/name_f]/[name_f]Constanza[/name_f] Violeta and [name_f]Paloma[/name_f]. Her big brothers are [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] and [name_m]Mateo[/name_m], who by the way were much easier to name than their baby sister.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]? It has a similar sound to [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] but I think it’s even prettier! Of your other options I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Paloma[/name_f]! It’s so pretty and unexpected and has a beautiful meaning, dove.

I really like [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f], actually, but I understand your worry with the association. I love the suggestion of [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]! I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]India[/name_f], but [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is one of my favourite names and [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] is beautiful.

We love [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], but our last name as a very prominent “luh” sound, and when we thought about [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] we discovered it’s too singy-songy. It’s a shame, because the name itself is lovely. It wasn’t the same with [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f], probably because it’s shorter and the “lia” sound is softer.

I’ve always loved [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] and I’ve never associated it with those stories. I could see if it would bother you in that way, why you wouldn’t use it. Not a fan of [name_f]India[/name_f] either…

From your other choices I think [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] goes best with [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] and [name_m]Mateo[/name_m]. It would be a perfect sibset!

Another vote for [name_f]Paloma[/name_f]!

What about [name_f]Delia[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]? [name_m]Tobias[/name_m], [name_m]Mateo[/name_m], and [name_f]Delia[/name_f] is a nice sibset! [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] is another name that I think would work well for you. I like [name_f]Paloma[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], and [name_f]Constanza[/name_f] too.

Some other possibilities:

[name_m]Tobias[/name_m], [name_m]Mateo[/name_m], and

[name_f]Vanessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Viveca[/name_f]

I’m a fan of [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f].

I love [name_f]India[/name_f], so that would be my fave from your options. Have you considered [name_f]Delia[/name_f], [name_f]Della[/name_f], [name_f]Tahlia[/name_f], [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] or [name_f]Delta[/name_f]?

I actually really like both of these names. I wouldn’t worry about the homicide association, as most people won’t automatically think of that, especially once they get to know your girl! [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] is definitely beautiful, whereas [name_f]India[/name_f] is cute. To me, [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] is more elegant and sophisticated, and [name_f]India[/name_f] is spunky and fun. Depends on what vibe you’re going for, really!

You know what, I would still go for [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]. I’ve seen the film, I’ve remotely heard of the crime, but to be honest all that comes to mind is a lovely flower and beautiful, underused gem of a name. What about [name_f]Dalila[/name_f]? It’s Spanish for [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] and is a good way to incorporate [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] within it… also fits with your boys’ names (beautiful, by the way!).

I think [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] is so, so lovely! I’ve never even heard of that, and I don’t think many people would associate the name. [name_f]India[/name_f] is pretty, but I don’t like it as much. Good luck, let us know what you decide!
