If partner could get his way, what would your baby be named?!

Names your partner would have picked!!! Which you vetoed.

So my partner would have had
[name_u]Andre[/name_u]
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
[name_m]Gregory[/name_m]
[name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] ( I said possibly as a middle)

We already have a [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] and [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and I said no to all the above as they just don’t match well. ( [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] does but felt like it wasn’t the one)

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] ( having it as a middle name)
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] ( I preferred [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f])
[name_f]Mollie[/name_f].
Meg

Again didn’t feel like they matched with our boys names.

Men just don’t have a clue when it comes to creating nice sibsets do they lol.

It’s pretty but I love [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]/Poppy :slightly_smiling_face:

He got his number one ([name_f]Amelie[/name_f])

Amelie is super pretty. It’s ok if husband comes up with a nice name. :slightly_smiling_face:

My partner LOVES [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]. If he had his way, when our time to have kids comes, we’d have a [name_f]Zoe[/name_f].

For boys, he loves [name_u]Tyson[/name_u]. Neither name is bad, [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]’s on my list, but I think there’s a lot of names I like more?

No partner here at the moment. But my father got his way. [name_f]My[/name_f] parents agreed on a name, but not the spelling. While my mom was out after giving birth, my father picked the spelling of my name. The irony of it is… he can’t even spell it 99% of the time, to this day. :woman_facepalming: Most other people can’t pronounce it or spell it either.

Some of his suggestions for the boys were:

Klaus
[name_m]Hansel[/name_m]
[name_u]Corbin[/name_u]
[name_m]Zachary[/name_m] (my cousin’s name so I couldn’t)
[name_u]Atlas[/name_u]
[name_m]Tiberius[/name_m]
[name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m]

Arthur was his top pick and he got it

Girls:
I’ve only vetoed [name_u]Jean[/name_u] and [name_u]Sydney[/name_u].

Jean (this is also his Corvette’s name :joy::woman_facepalming:t2:)
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_u]Holly[/name_u]
[name_u]Sydney[/name_u]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]

Phoebe (I loved it and then he took it back :sob::sob:)

If my dad had had his way on my name, I would have been [name_u]Cody[/name_u].

My dad got his way, LOL. [name_f]My[/name_f] mom desperately wanted Sanjana, but here we are.

(If I was a boy, my mom would’ve won. [name_f]My[/name_f] dad wanted [name_m]Rick[/name_m] because it makes a word with my last name.)

My boyfriend wanted to name our son [name_m]Erwin[/name_m] after my grandfather (who raised me). I said NO my grandpa knew I loved him but the name is awful. Then he wanted [name_m]Alvin[/name_m] my grandpas middle name. Another NO.

Oh, lets see…

His favorite boy name is [name_m]Magnus[/name_m]. It’s just… too much. And sometimes reminds me of [name_m]maggot [/name_m]. He also loves [name_u]Francis[/name_u]. He thinks it’s badas*, which I just don’t get. I think that he also likes [name_m]Solomon[/name_m]. I almost like that, but mainly just [name_u]Sol[/name_u] & [name_m]Solly[/name_m]. I couldn’t see myself actually having a child named [name_m]Solomon[/name_m].

I think that we agree a lot more for girls. I know that he loves [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], & we used it for our dog, [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]'s, mn. He wanted it to be her fn, but she’s way too stoic to be a spunky [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. A much better [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]! He also loves [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. I do too, but he doesn’t seem to be as annoyed by the fact that its so popular. He likes [name_f]Nora[/name_f], which I like but don’t love. And it’s also way too popular. He loves [name_f]Violet[/name_f] too. Which I like, but don’t love. And also too popular! I think he likes [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], which I would be on board w/using the nn [name_f]Nellie[/name_f]. But he doesn’t like [name_f]Nellie[/name_f].

Haha you made me laugh when you said your husband thinks [name_u]Francis[/name_u] is badass. It’s such a gentle boys name.
I like all the other choices. But when you’ve found the one you know!

Ariadne, [name_f]Helena[/name_f] or [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]

Dashiell or [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]

He has great taste! I didn’t veto any but we went for shorter first names in the end.

Before he met me, his favorites were:

Alexander, “[name_u]Sasha[/name_u]”
[name_f]Alexandria[/name_f], “[name_u]Sasha[/name_u]”
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
and total wildcard
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]

Now his favorites are (we have a “[name_u]Sasha[/name_u]” already):
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Celestine[/name_f]
[name_f]Persephone[/name_f]
[name_f]Titania[/name_f]
[name_f]Minerva[/name_f]
Olympias
[name_f]Thisbe[/name_f]
[name_f]Petra[/name_f]
[name_u]Tempest[/name_u]
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Antigone[/name_f]
[name_f]Circe[/name_f]
[name_u]Calypso[/name_u]
[name_m]Ulysses[/name_m]
[name_u]Constantine[/name_u]
[name_u]Oberon[/name_u]
[name_m]Thelonious[/name_m]
[name_m]Cornelius[/name_m]
[name_u]Jem[/name_u]
[name_m]Scipio[/name_m]
[name_m]Hercule[/name_m]
[name_m]Atticus[/name_m]

I like his taste and our list is mostly names we both really love LOVE love.

But if he completely had his way without my taste in mind a girl would be [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_u]Tempest[/name_u] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], or [name_f]Celestine[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f], I think.

A boy would likely be [name_m]Scipio[/name_m] [name_u]Constantine[/name_u], [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] [name_u]Jem[/name_u], or [name_u]Oberon[/name_u] [name_m]Hercule[/name_m].

And W1nry, which I’ve agreed to!

My husband’s favorite name is [name_m]Alistair[/name_m]. I hated it when he first told me it but it slowly grow on me and by the time I got pregnant I loved the name and that’s what we went with!

His other favorites are:
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m]
[name_m]Ares[/name_m]
[name_u]Ari[/name_u]
[name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m]
[name_f]Lilith[/name_f]
[name_u]Raven[/name_u]
[name_f]Constance[/name_f]

I really like [name_u]Ari[/name_u] but we call our son [name_u]Ali[/name_u] and feel like that is too close. I like [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] but don’t love it. [name_m]Ares[/name_m] I like but hate the whole god of war association. [name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m] nms. [name_u]Raven[/name_u] is okay. [name_f]Constance[/name_f] is cute but hate the nn [name_u]Connie[/name_u] which I feel people would try to shorten, I think [name_f]Cece[/name_f] would be a cute nn. And Although I like the sound of [name_f]Lilith[/name_f], I feel like that is a lot of baggage for a name.

Oh and probably no middle names bc he doesn’t like them.

My SO mentioned he liked the name [name_f]Mara[/name_f] the other night, which is probably my least favorite style of name. [name_f]Kara[/name_f]/Mara/Lara/Alysa/Arya/etc. [name_m]Just[/name_m] NO. I need clunky, Victorian names!

Luckily we have similar taste otherwise. I think he would choose [name_f]Frances[/name_f] or [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] for another baby girl. Or [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] or [name_m]Casper[/name_m] for a baby boy. He also said he likes [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m].

My parents had similar style so they just chose the name favorites they had in common. [name_f]My[/name_f] grandma wanted to name my uncle [name_m]Christopher[/name_m], but my grandpa said no…then a few years later my grandma ended up naming my mom a female form of [name_m]Christopher[/name_m]!

My husband and I very luckily tend to agree on names but a few that I don’t like nearly as much as him are:
[name_m]Cecil[/name_m]
[name_u]Sidney[/name_u]
[name_f]Alma[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadhbh[/name_f]
[name_u]Willow[/name_u]
