If we had another boy…

We’ve been TTC for awhile, and last night I dreamed I was pregnant and having a boy :blue_heart:

It was a little funny because in my dream I reacted to the ultrasound pretty much the way I imagine I would in real life—“Awww, well, we were kinda hoping for a sister for our daughter but it’s ok! He is so precious”

So I’ve done this before, but I thought it would be fun to ask for some boy name ideas. We have both a boy and girl name like 98% settled if we do have another baby, which is a good thing but also a bit boring :joy:

What would you name a brother to R.ansom [name_m]Earl[/name_m], T.obias [name_m]Arnold[/name_m], D.eliverance [name_f]Elanor[/name_f], and Z.ebedee [name_m]John[/name_m]?

Bonus points for Celtic names that at least sort of vibe with the set. I’d love to use an [name_m]Irish[/name_m] name but haven’t made it happen yet. We like [name_m]Seamus[/name_m] but probably won’t be using it. 2-syllable N-ending names, especially ones that contain a long A sound, don’t go very well with our surname.

Thanks! I especially like [name_m]Roland[/name_m], [name_m]Maddox[/name_m], and [name_m]Abraham[/name_m]. [name_m]Banner[/name_m] is fun. I like [name_m]Malachi[/name_m], but I know a couple, so I’m inclined towards the [name_m]Irish[/name_m] version [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] (I’ve considered it before); but I think it would be a headache correcting everyone. Maybe I’m overthinking? Maybe it would be the perfect balance between unusual-Biblical and Celtic

I think [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] is a solid choice, maybe [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] [name_m]Linwood[/name_m] or [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] Lionhart?

Maybe (assuming you don’t want to repeat letters) :

[name_m]Justice[/name_m] [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]

[name_m]Oswin[/name_m] [name_f]Beloved[/name_f]

[name_m]Prosper[/name_m] [name_m]Joah[/name_m]

[name_m]Conner[/name_m] [name_m]Theon[/name_m]

Hopefully these help

@cms1512 thank you! I do really like Phineas; he’s been on my long list for years. I should push him higher up! And goodness how cute would [name_m]Oswin[/name_m] be  I like [name_m]Elwin[/name_m] but we have [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and [name_m]Ellis[/name_m] in the family already, and I admire [name_m]Selwyn[/name_m], but [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m]?

@angelastella5 thanks! Oh I wish so much that [name_m]Absalom[/name_m] didn’t have such an unfortunate Biblical namesake. It’s such a cool name. Lots of sounds I like and a great meaning. [name_m]The[/name_m] others are great too!

I have to say, [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] or [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] was my first thought for this brief! Such a cool name, especially the [name_m]Irish[/name_m] one. Bit rhymey with [name_m]Zebedee[/name_m] perhaps but enough different sounds.

How about…

I think [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] would be perfect for your family! I know of a little boy named so (with the nickname [name_m]Mac[/name_m] :two_hearts:) and I always thought it was so handsome and endearing!

@katinka and @Maria_Bennett [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] has really grabbed my attention! It is a little rhymey with Z’s name, but who’s going to notice :woman_shrugging: And the nn [name_m]Mac[/name_m] is :pinched_fingers:t2: It makes me think of [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] Alcott’s Eight Cousins

Thanks for the list! I have such a soft spot for [name_m]Finvarra[/name_m] and [name_m]Ossian[/name_m]. [name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_m]Oisin[/name_m] too but worry it would be too difficult where we live. And there are a few I haven’t considered: [name_m]Ferdia[/name_m], [name_m]Mathuin[/name_m] (I like that it’s [name_m]Irish[/name_m] but looks visually similar to the [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] names!), [name_m]Donnacha[/name_m], [name_m]Conleth[/name_m]. So handsome.

@seawillow awwww thanks  I love so many of these. I’ve seriously considered [name_m]Jubal[/name_m] (he feels so joyful!) and [name_m]Nehemiah[/name_m]. [name_m]Nicodemus[/name_m] and [name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m] I would absolutely use, especially as middles with the right first. Also briefly considered [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] as a top contender when I was pregnant with Z. [name_m]Caerwyn[/name_m] is dreamy! Adding some of these to my list

@Alix2016 I know right :joy: I love [name_m]Nicodemus[/name_m]! [name_m]Toby[/name_m] [name_m]Nicodemus[/name_m] is one of my favorite combos of all time, but we went with [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] instead of just [name_m]Toby[/name_m] and [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] [name_m]Nicodemus[/name_m] just didn’t hit the same.

[name_m]Not[/name_m] biblical but I could see the -l ending [name_m]Irish[/name_m] names like [name_m]Conall[/name_m], [name_m]Fergal[/name_m], [name_m]Cathal[/name_m], [name_m]Domhnall[/name_m], etc fitting in with your crew. Your kids’ names feel very 1700s/colonial [name_m]America[/name_m], and I think something like [name_m]Conall[/name_m] or [name_m]Fergal[/name_m] matches the no nonsense vibe even if there weren’t any on the Revolutionary War rosters.

Oo. Yes. I’ve admired [name_m]Domhnall[/name_m] before but never considered it as a possibility. [name_m]Donald[/name_m] is a family name, so that would be a fun connection.
