Sometime in the next year we plan to have a third child… we have two boys already and while I’d love to have a girl (duh!), we’re fully expecting another boy! But it’s SO hard to come up with another boy’s name that we love. We already have [name]Leo[/name] [name]Alexander[/name] and [name]Asher[/name] [name]Everett[/name]. DH likes classic names that have friendly-guy nicknames ([name]Asher[/name] is called [name]Ash[/name], for example). I’m less strict about style, but I’ve been a name nerd all my life so it takes a lot to impress me! If anyone can do it, though, it’s you guys!

So far our top choice is [name]Oliver[/name], nn [name]Ollie[/name] of course.
I also like [name]Nathaniel[/name] nn [name]Nate[/name], but not 100%.

Mainly I feel that these are too popular…I know [name]Leo[/name] (and [name]Asher[/name]) are both headed in that direction too, but it didn’t seem so when we picked them!

Any ideas?

Of the names you posted, I like [name]Oliver[/name] over [name]Nathaniel[/name]–[name]Nathaniel[/name] sounds dated to me.

[name]Eli[/name] - also love this but DH doesn’t
[name]Raphael[/name] - love this and love nn [name]Rafi[/name], but seems a bit too Italian next to [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Asher[/name]
[name]Julian[/name] - I know I should like this one, it would fit perfectly, but I just don’t!

On a related note, it occurred to me today that my major issue with [name]Oliver[/name]–which has been our first choice for a while–is that I know we will ALWAYS default to “[name]Ollie[/name]” which, while super cute, isn’t the awesome [name]Oliver[/name] that I love. Sure, I can say we’ll try to use the full version, but I just know it will be [name]Ollie[/name], especially since he’ll be the baby and third child, and my husband will absolutely love calling him that!

[name]Nathaniel[/name] would also become [name]Nate[/name], but since I don’t love [name]Nate[/name], I would probably be more disciplined about calling him [name]Nathaniel[/name]. However, it’s a mouthful!

Great suggestions…I can’t beat those. I’ll just say that you are safe with [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Asher[/name]. I don’t know one of either in real life and don’t think they are popular.

LOL… I’ve been thinking about [name]Desmond[/name] lately, love the nn [name]Des[/name] and love the character on Lost!

[name]Gabriel[/name] is great, isn’t it? I might put it back on the list since DH loves it, even though I had decided it’s too popular… [name]Gabe[/name] would be [name]Gabriel[/name] more often than [name]Ollie[/name] would be [name]Oliver[/name], I think. And it sounds awesome with [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Asher[/name]. Hmmm…

I adore your boys names!! They are both so awesome and I agree you will need an equally great third boy name. I also have 2 sons and am contemplating going for the girl as well, but feel the same way- PLAN for the boy!! [name]Rhys[/name] was on our list waaay back when (our [name]Leo[/name] was going to be a [name]Rhys[/name]), still like it but am not sure about it with [name]Leo[/name] & [name]Asher[/name]… you think it fits? What are people’s perceptions of [name]Rhys[/name]? Part of me sees it as a bit snobby…

I love [name]Graham[/name] and [name]Hugh[/name]… I think DH likes [name]Hugh[/name] too…we’ll have to talk about it. He’s totally sold on [name]Oliver[/name], though, so it will be tough. MN for [name]Oliver[/name] would be either [name]Henry[/name] or [name]Raymond[/name].

It’s funny, I feel weird sharing our girl’s name, perhaps because that still feels impossible, having a girl, and sharing her name would be like living in a fantasy… weird, I know! Anyhow, our girl choices are:

BTW, our last name is French, two syllables, “LaXxxxxx”.

Well sounds like we are really are like 2 peas in a pod as believe it or not, my sons names are [name]Owen[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] and [name]Rhys[/name] [name]Patrick[/name]!! I did not want to say I had a [name]Rhys[/name] when I suggested that -it just popped in my head as sounding pretty cool with [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Asher[/name]! We had originally picked “[name]Reece[/name]” and I was stressed about which spelling since it seemed like such a different name when written [name]Rhys[/name], but my husband liked the fact it was Celtic like [name]Owen[/name] and most men we asked all said they thought it was more masculine. I have been thinking about what name I would go with if we have a third boy - which is most likely and [name]Asher[/name] has been my #1 pick - which is how I stumbled across your post, researching [name]Asher[/name]! Anyway I think it is so gorgeous, just still not sure how it fit with [name]Owen[/name] and [name]Rhys[/name]!

Your girl names are wonderful, love [name]Sylvie[/name]- has such charm. I think they are all great. Did you know the gender of either pregnancies and do you think you will find out this time? and for the record I think [name]Nate[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name] are both wonderful but for some silly reason I don’t love [name]Oliver[/name] with [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Asher[/name]. I think the O sound in [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Leo[/name] bothers me? but I am big on sib names flowing and most would think that was really picky!
