What would it be and why?
For myself or my child? I don’t have a child, so I’m going with myself. Lol.
When I was younger I desperately wanted my name to be [name]Cassandra[/name] [name]Rose[/name], nn [name]Cassie[/name]. I just thought it was SO pretty! Lately I would choose [name]Selah[/name] [name]Ann[/name]. My real name is [name]Sierra[/name] [name]Ann[/name], btw.
I don’t know! I think my real name suits me so well even though I’m impressed with so many other names out there. I would probably name myself [name]Lily[/name] or [name]Grace[/name]–one name honors one grandmother, and the other honors the other! Consequently, I think they both fit me fairly well (almost as well as my real name) and I think they’re familiar enough to not be strange choices for someone my age.
I love my real name but if I had to choose, I’d probably go with [name]Ivy[/name]. It’s one of my favorite names and I think it’d fit me pretty well.
I’m a [name]Katherine[/name], and I’ve never been fond of it. I love my nickname, which is [name]Kate[/name]. [name]Just[/name] not [name]Katherine[/name]. It sounds so stuffy and that’s just not who I am.
If I could change my name I would be something sweet and to the point, like [name]Lilah[/name] or [name]Claire[/name].
I would keep my middle name, [name]Austen[/name], which is my mother’s maiden name.
My name is super common ([name]Jessica[/name]) but I don’t actually know anyone with the name, have never had anyone is any classes at school/university with the same name or anything and never had any bad experiences with it.
I go mostly by [name]Jess[/name], (hate [name]Jessie[/name] and [name]Jessica[/name] has never seemed ‘me’) and wouldn’t change my name as it was given to me by my father and I have the same initials as my beloved paternal grandmother and my favourite aunt.
I wouldn’t change my name ([name]Tressa[/name]) but i would love to change people’s reactions to it. It’s not a hard name to pronounce, but I’ve been called everything from [name]Tessa[/name] to Ter-ay-sa.
I once had this guy look at my work nametag and said “Oh! I get it. It’s T, as in the letter T, and the rest is Reesa. T-Reesa.”
(It’s really pronounced like [name]Tessa[/name] with an R. Apparently not as straight forward for some.)
IDK if I would really change my name. It’s not bad, even though it’s not really me. If anything, I wish I could get more people to call me [name]Annie[/name]. It feels like my name, but no one [name]IRL[/name] calls me that.
As a kid I wished I had been an [name]Amanda[/name]. No idea why, I just thought it was prettier than my actual name of [name]Belinda[/name]. I sometimes also wished my middle name, [name]Claire[/name], had been my first name.
My dad used to insist on calling me Bindy (which if you don’t know happens to be a weed in Australia) and I never liked it much. So in my teens I demanded to be called [name]Bell[/name]. At the time I thought it was really original, turns out lots of Belindas go by [name]Bel[/name]/[name]Bell[/name]/[name]Belle[/name].
I’ve never liked my given name, which is [name]Leslie[/name]. If I were to rename myself, I would choose [name]Angharad[/name], because I think that’s closer to who I am. If I were to rename my kids, I would simply call my daughter by her middle name, [name]Louisa[/name]. My son is [name]Thomas[/name], which I love, but I would have gone with [name]George[/name] [name]Thomas[/name] for him.
Hmm, I think my real name fits me well, but if I had to pick a new name, my current favorites are either [name]Amelia[/name] or [name]Emilia[/name]…but I think I prefer the nn [name]Amy[/name] so I’d probably pick [name]Amelia[/name].
I wouldn’t rename myself because I really love being called [name]Lucy[/name]. If I had to choose though, I’d love to be a [name]Lydia[/name] or a [name]Kate[/name]. I think they’d suit.
I wouldn’t change either of my girls first names, but I would alter my elder daughters middle name a bit. I’d change her middle name from [name]Rose[/name] to [name]Rosalie[/name]. [name]Rose[/name] was after her grandmother, but I hate that its such a typical filler name now
I love the name I go by now, [name]Rose[/name], and feel it’s special and me, but if I had to choose another first name, I would probably chose [name]Leah[/name]. I’ve also thought I look like a [name]Toni[/name], [name]Megan[/name], or [name]Dana[/name], but I like [name]Leah[/name] much better.
My name is a combination of my parents’ names. My father’s name was Ames (pronounced “[name]Ah[/name]-mez”) and my mother was [name]Liliana[/name].
Growing up, the only issues that would arise were when my schoolmates would chop my name up into something silly-sounding.
Why call me Am-Am? That sounded ridiculous to me. My schoolmates especially wanted to give me a “cute nickname” for my “shy personality.”
Or [name]Meli[/name]? There were many Melissas and they shared the same nickname. I felt like another [name]Melissa[/name] in that way.
I prefered [name]Elie[/name] (like “[name]El[/name]-ee”) or Ames (like the English word “aims”; not like my father’s name “[name]Ah[/name]-mez”).
[name]Mel[/name]-[name]Mel[/name]? Oh stop.
Eel? Yes, even Eel. I was a sea creature once upon a time.
Nowadays, I let it pass. But in the schoolyard it was just annoying. Especially, “eel.”
And I suppose if I were to choose another name, it would just be a diminutive of my name or [name]Dorothy[/name]. I was very fond of The [name]Wizard[/name] of [name]Oz[/name] as a child and the song “Somewhere Over the [name]Rainbow[/name].”
I’ve always liked my own name. If I could change it, though, I would be [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Sarah[/name] [name]Margo[/name]. Although I AM still very much an [name]Olivia[/name], and I believe it has shaped who I am today - to a certain extent, at least.
I was very nearly [name]Amelia[/name] after a distant relative who’s name was [name]Gertrude[/name] [name]Amelia[/name], but my parents went with [name]Olivia[/name] instead (back in the 90s, when it was still fairly uncommon). I’ve always thought [name]Amelia[/name] was so pretty and I feel like I have a deep connection with it. My dad’s cousin has recently had a little [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Rose[/name], which both have family meanings to me. I’m not happy (LOL)!
I’d keep my middle name, honouring my Great-grandmother, and add [name]Margo[/name] to honour 2 Margarets in my family.
My name’s [name]Kristin[/name] & I’d much rather be [name]Kirsten[/name] ([name]Keir[/name]-stin). I also think I’d make a good [name]Samantha[/name] or [name]Liv[/name].
I’m in the process of renaming myself, and I’ve hit a huge wall. I can’t settle or find anything that really sticks.
I’d love to be an [name]Alessandra[/name] though. I’m saving it for a daughter however.
Other names I used to want to be named as a kid: [name]Cassandra[/name], [name]Alison[/name], [name]Ashley[/name], [name]Brittany[/name], [name]Alyssa[/name].
I’m also renaming myself, and I feel like I’ve hit a wall too. My most current contenders are [name]Imogen[/name], [name]Ginevra[/name], and [name]Melusine[/name]. And [name]Gwendolen[/name], but I don’t really feel like a [name]Gwendolen[/name], as much as the berries here love it! I am keeping my middle name, [name]Rose[/name], despite its rampant over-exposure.
I’d go with [name]Saffron[/name] [name]Elysia[/name]. [name]Saffron[/name] because it’s become a “second name” for me amongst close friends and my brother. [name]Elysia[/name] after the mythological field Elysium. If I had to change my surname, I’d either knock my real middle name in place of it ([name]Hart[/name]) or go with Belmont because of the numerous Belmonts throughout the Castlevania series.
I just picked another name for myself and had it officially changed to [name]Liv[/name]. It took me a while to come up with a new name but this one sounds nice, the meaning is lovely and has a connection to my daughter (‘life’) and I like my new initials since it sounds like the name of my fave aunt who passed away in 99. Like I said: it took a while but it feels good.
