[name_f]Sarai[/name_f] (suh-rye) is my all time favourite name and while I have no intention of having kids, I still think it’s fun to know which of my other names you’d choose as a sister!
I go back and forth between my other favourites, so I’m excited to see which one you’d pick from my (longer) list!
Which name as a sister for [name_f]Sarai[/name_f]?
I’ve seen you pair [name_f]Sarai[/name_f] and [name_f]Cherith[/name_f] so many times that they just seem like a natural sister set to me now! I actually think they pair well anyway – both offbeat choices with a similar origin and an unexpected combination of sounds.
I agree with @VEL – it absolutely must be [name_f]Cherith[/name_f]!
I love that [name_f]Cherith[/name_f] and [name_f]Sarai[/name_f] both have Hebrew origins and that they both have cool meanings. They also just sound good together, like they’re meant to be sisters.
If I were going to choose another name beginning with s, I’d go with [name_f]Sarai[/name_f] + [name_u]Scout[/name_u]. I just love the name [name_u]Scout[/name_u] for a little girl!
I have loads of choices here but I’ll try to limit myself to three (with explanations as to why I chose them).
[name_f]Mabli[/name_f] - this was my top choice for you as soon I saw it. I think I could’ve chosen [name_f]Una[/name_f] or [name_f]Cherith[/name_f] too, because I know they form a part of your top names. I’d choose [name_f]Cherith[/name_f] for the same reasons @/Seawillow. For [name_f]Mabli[/name_f], however, I think she’s a perfect sister to [name_f]Sarai[/name_f]. They match in terms of length with the same amount of syllables, and are similar without being overwhelmingly matchy.
[name_f]Opal[/name_f] - If not [name_f]Mabli[/name_f], I love [name_f]Opal[/name_f] for a sister to [name_f]Sarai[/name_f] as well. Again, they’re not matchy at all but go together nicely. I envision [name_f]Sarai[/name_f] as a sparkling pink and [name_f]Opal[/name_f] to be a polychromatic white, so it’s more of what imagery comes to mind than anything else. They are cohesive in that way. [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] almost made the cut because I am a fan of the alliteration, but there’s nothing more than that.
[name_f]Carys[/name_f] - I think, despite coming from different origins, [name_f]Sarai[/name_f] and [name_f]Carys[/name_f] seem to go together. As with [name_f]Mabli[/name_f], [name_f]Sarai[/name_f] and [name_f]Carys[/name_f] both have five letters and two syllables. They remind me of a little wooden cabin amidst a lush forest, a scenery with fawns and sparrows.
[name_f]My[/name_f] instinct is [name_f]Sarai[/name_f] and [name_f]Cherith[/name_f] (just because I feel they’re so you!!) but if I had to choose just purely on vibes, I’d go with [name_f]Sarai[/name_f] & [name_f]Mabli[/name_f] !! Both so fun and sweet!!
I would pick the equally Biblical [name_f]Noemi[/name_f] and similar feeling [name_f]Dora[/name_f].
[name_f]Embla[/name_f], [name_f]Ilaria[/name_f], [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], [name_u]Cleo[/name_u], [name_f]Leonie[/name_f], [name_f]Amy[/name_f], [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f], [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_f]Effie[/name_f], [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Ismay[/name_f] would work too.
I really like [name_f]Sarai[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] together, although the difference in length bothers me a teeny bit. Nonetheless, with [name_f]Keziah[/name_f], [name_f]Mira[/name_f] and [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] as second, third and fourth choices, I would choose [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. [name_f]Sarai[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] sound like a fun pair who love books and are giggly and content in each other’s company.
@AStudyIn_Scarlet loving all that imagery - thank you for these explanations!
[name_m]Just[/name_m] in case anyone’s interested (and for my own memory), here are the ones coming up multiple times:
[name_f]Sarai[/name_f] and [name_f]Una[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarai[/name_f] and [name_f]Cherith[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarai[/name_f] and [name_f]Ismay[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarai[/name_f] and [name_f]Mabli[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarai[/name_f] and [name_f]Opal[/name_f]
I really like [name_f]Sarai[/name_f] and Jilly-Mae as sisters. They aren’t an expected pair, like [name_f]Sarai[/name_f] and [name_f]Noemi[/name_f] or [name_f]Sarai[/name_f] and [name_f]Cherith[/name_f], but to me they somehow go well together. I love suprising matches like that.
I definitely think either [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] or [name_f]Darla[/name_f], they just sound so youthful and fun, but also have similar sounds/meanings to [name_f]Sarai[/name_f]!
