If you HAD to use a theme...

I though this could be fun to think about

What themes would you consider and what names would you use for them? And for those who already have a baby what theme could you use that goes along with your child(ren)'s name?

Heres mine:

‘S’ names:

[name_u]Sage[/name_u]; [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_u]Skye[/name_u], [name_u]Spencer[/name_u], [name_f]Summer[/name_f], [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u], ect

[name_u]Sage[/name_u]; [name_u]Future[/name_u], [name_f]Infinity[/name_f], [name_u]Legend[/name_u], [name_f]Legacy[/name_f], [name_u]Comfort[/name_u], ect

WOw I didnt realize how many themes I could go with if I wanted to…

I’m pretty bad at coming up with boys names, just because I’m less easily impressed by boys names, and I started listing some that I thought were alright, and there seemed to be a lot of [name_m]New[/name_m] Testament names there: [name_m]Peter[/name_m], [name_m]Andrew[/name_m], [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Stephen[/name_m], [name_m]Peter[/name_m], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]… They could go with [name_f]Esther[/name_f], [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], and [name_f]Beth[/name_f]/any.

I also like nature-y names, especially in the middle: [name_u]Wren[/name_u], [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] (dawn), [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Tempest[/name_f], [name_m]Fox[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] (bear), [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] (where Roses grow), [name_u]River[/name_u], [name_m]Peter[/name_m] (rock)

And for girls I like names that have to do with light: [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], [name_f]Eliora[/name_f] (God is my light), [name_f]Esther[/name_f] (star), [name_f]Helena[/name_f] (bright, shining light), [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] (radiant, shining one). I think this one is just a coincidence, but interesting!

I know parents with a mythological theme.

[name_m]Drake[/name_m], [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], [name_m]Griffin[/name_m], [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f], Pegasus, Chimera…

I Kind of have a [name_f]Goddess[/name_f] theme going.

[name_f]Olwen[/name_f], [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] ([name_m]Arrow[/name_m] <3 ), Isis, Rhiannon, Freya, Selene, Dana, Maia, Kali, Lilith, Morrigan…

I could handle a nature theme, or literary.

I seem to have reverted back to my beloved seven letter sibset theme:
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f], [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], [name_f]Demelza[/name_f], & [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]/[name_m]Ptolemy[/name_m]

And an inadvertent place name theme I’m actually considering (okay, [name_f]Pandora[/name_f]'s a fictional place name, but still :p):
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f], [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], & [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]

Greek mythological related names probably wouldn’t be too awful (already halfway there):
[name_f]Pandora[/name_f], [name_m]Artemus[/name_m], [name_f]Hermione[/name_f], & [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]

Word Names:
[name_f]Kitty[/name_f], [name_u]Indigo[/name_u], [name_u]Sky[/name_u], & [name_u]August[/name_u]

Literary:
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f], [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f], & [name_m]Prosper[/name_m]/[name_m]Remus[/name_m]

Hmm… These aren’t actually too bad. I think themes can actually work as long as the names aren’t too similar, although maybe it’s because I’m biased towards all the word/literary/mythological etc. names on my list :p.

I think a nature theme would suit me best if I had to pick one theme.

Names from songs:
[name_f]Roxanne[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_f]Layla[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f], [name_f]Rosanna[/name_f], [name_u]Billie[/name_u], [name_f]Joanna[/name_f], [name_f]Athena[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Wendy[/name_f], [name_u]Jude[/name_u]

Nature names:
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u], [name_f]Maple[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_u]Wren[/name_u], [name_f]Sparrow[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Tempest[/name_f], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], [name_u]River[/name_u], [name_m]Fox[/name_m], [name_m]Wolf[/name_m]

Greek mythology:
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f], [name_f]Persephone[/name_f], [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f], [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f], [name_u]Calypso[/name_u], [name_f]Hera[/name_f], [name_f]Athena[/name_f], [name_f]Iphigenia[/name_f], [name_f]Philomela[/name_f], [name_m]Helios[/name_m], [name_m]Orpheus[/name_m], [name_m]Jason[/name_m], [name_m]Leander[/name_m], [name_u]Orion[/name_u], [name_m]Perseus[/name_m]

[name_m]Roman[/name_m] mythology:
[name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f], [name_f]Silvia[/name_f], [name_f]Minerva[/name_f], [name_f]Diana[/name_f], [name_f]Juno[/name_f], [name_f]Luna[/name_f], Proserpina, [name_m]Evander[/name_m], [name_m]Remus[/name_m], [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m]

Arthurian legend:
[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], [name_f]Morgana[/name_f], [name_f]Isolde[/name_f], Nimue, Blanchefleur, [name_f]Evaine[/name_f], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]Emrys[/name_m], [name_m]Percival[/name_m], [name_m]Caradoc[/name_m], [name_m]Gawain[/name_m], [name_m]Lucan[/name_m], [name_m]Tristram[/name_m]

Cornish names:
[name_f]Demelza[/name_f], Lamorna, Jowanet, [name_f]Kerensa[/name_f], Loveday, [name_f]Morwenna[/name_f], Morvoren, [name_m]Jago[/name_m], Branok, Casworon, Arthyen, [name_u]Jory[/name_u], [name_m]Santo[/name_m], Ruman

I have accidentally fallen into a theme that I may or may not keep with our next child. Repeating letters. My children are [name_m]Connor[/name_m] and [name_u]Emmett[/name_u].

My top name right now for a boy is [name_m]Fletcher[/name_m] so odds are the theme will die with him but for a girl our top pick is [name_f]Willa[/name_f] so there is hope

For girls, flower names. I love so many! My favorites are [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], and [name_f]Iris[/name_f].
I tend to like biblical boy names - [name_u]Noah[/name_u], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m].
I could also easily have an E theme: [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_u]Elliot[/name_u], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_u]Evan[/name_u], [name_m]Ethan[/name_m], [name_u]Elias[/name_u].
I don’t know if it counts, but many of the names I’d actually consider right now are classic and old fashioned. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m].

One highly specific one that springs to mind- JD [name_m]Salinger[/name_m] names

I could totally have [name_m]Holden[/name_m], [name_u]Zooey[/name_u], [name_m]Franklin[/name_m], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], [name_f]Jane[/name_f], Waker and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] in a set together

Also irish names:
[name_u]Tiernan[/name_u], [name_f]Una[/name_f], [name_m]Conan[/name_m], [name_m]Eoin[/name_m], [name_f]Maebh[/name_f], and [name_m]Tadhg[/name_m]

I could see myself really using floral names or virtue names.

I might actually go with a color(ish) theme.

I gravitate naturally to vowel names - especially E’s
[name_m]Ethan[/name_m], [name_m]Eric[/name_m], [name_u]Eden[/name_u], [name_m]Ian[/name_m], [name_f]Annalea[/name_f], [name_f]Elyse[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_m]Aaron[/name_m]

Literary Names - especially [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] or Arthurian legend (only heightened by Arthurs and Merlins in the family tree)
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_f]Avalon[/name_f], [name_m]Gawain[/name_m]/[name_m]Gavin[/name_m], [name_u]Tristan[/name_u], [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Cressida[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Viola[/name_f], Illyria, [name_m]Titus[/name_m], [name_m]Bastian[/name_m], [name_u]Lennox[/name_u]
These would likely be themed middles.

Nature names -
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m], [name_f]Aster[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Dawn[/name_f], [name_u]Sage[/name_u], [name_u]Brooke[/name_u], [name_f]Cassia[/name_f]

I could definitely see myself using a sort of Biblical/religious theme…[name_m]Benedict[/name_m], [name_m]Calvin[/name_m], [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], [name_f]Eve[/name_f]

Also, almost all of my family has one syllable nicknames, so I think we’d do that no matter what.

E names. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], Elisea, [name_f]Estella[/name_f], [name_m]Eli[/name_m], [name_m]Ezra[/name_m].

If I had to stick to a theme it would be one syllable since most of my faves are short names

Girl: [name_f]Noor[/name_f], [name_f]Greer[/name_f], [name_f]Belle[/name_f], [name_u]Dove[/name_u], [name_u]Claude[/name_u], [name_f]Liv[/name_f], [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], [name_u]Rue[/name_u], [name_u]Byrd[/name_u]
Boy: [name_u]Shea[/name_u], [name_m]Fox[/name_m], [name_u]Blaise[/name_u], [name_m]Beau[/name_m], [name_f]Jade[/name_f], [name_m]Drake[/name_m], [name_u]Brook[/name_u], [name_f]Thyme[/name_f], [name_f]Lark[/name_f], [name_u]Bay[/name_u]

I tend to like 2 syllable boys names that end in ‘n’

[name_m]Brendan[/name_m], [name_m]Gavin[/name_m], [name_m]Nathan[/name_m], [name_m]Kevin[/name_m], [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_m]Simon[/name_m]…

one syllabe names:
[name_u]Max[/name_u], [name_m]Eli[/name_m], [name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_u]Shay[/name_u], [name_m]Huck[/name_m]

Nature names:
[name_m]Huck[/name_m], [name_u]Sage[/name_u], [name_f]Lilly[/name_f], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_u]Brooke[/name_u]

I would definitely use Biblical names (either of a person or a place or Biblical words or Female versions of male Biblical names) as my theme- there are so many lovely ones:
Girls: [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Galilee[/name_f], [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] / [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f], [name_f]Aphra[/name_f] / Aphrah, [name_f]Jethra[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Josepha[/name_f], [name_f]Esther[/name_f], Bethlehem, [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Hadassah[/name_f], [name_f]Hosanna[/name_f], [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], [name_f]Martha[/name_f], [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], etc.

Boys: [name_m]Abraham[/name_m], [name_m]Obadiah[/name_m], [name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m], [name_m]Zebedee[/name_m], [name_m]Andrew[/name_m], [name_m]Enoch[/name_m], [name_m]Hosea[/name_m], [name_m]Gilead[/name_m], etc.

We already have [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] and my husband is [name_m]Klaus[/name_m], so the [name_m]German[/name_m] theme is already pretty easily established (though my name isn’t traditionally [name_m]German[/name_m]). Others we like along these lines are are: [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_m]Alaric[/name_m]

We could also do K’s, I suppose (but I’m not a huge fan of many other K names, and I’d be left out!) Such as [name_u]Kai[/name_u], [name_f]Kamilla[/name_f], [name_m]Karl[/name_m] and [name_f]Klara[/name_f]

My favorite is the possibility of “names in songs from musicals” as [name_m]Konrad[/name_m] has his song from “Bye Bye [name_f]Birdie[/name_f]” and I am totally crushing on Edelweiss (which would be the song AND german theme!)
