If you like weird ones

I have revamped my short lists. If you havent seen any of my previous posts, I like names most would consider weird, bold, or offbeat. That was your warning, lol. They are in order of favorite to least:

GIRLS
Goldenrod Leonie - thank you berries for helping me settle on a middle.
Mazarine Io - this is an old love revived. I love the Mazarine Blue butterfly and the whole mythos associated with butterflies.
Verbena Boheme - is this too “b” heavy? I love the two individually and they write great together. Thoughts?
Elm Imogen - I’m trying to move away from trees and into other flora and fauna, but this one stays.
Freesia Genevieve - another old love revived
Fig Bedelia - used to be my favorite, but given some thought on some of the associations the name may have, it has moved down. Note: Fig is thisclose to switching places with Sweetbriar on my GP list. How do you feel about Sweetbriar Bedelia?
Chrysanthemum Harper - I will never understand the “too long” argument. It has the same syllables as the über popular Isabella.
Plum Araminta - too much flavor?

BOYS
Yarrow Barnaby - Yarrow has been on and off of the list for years. I love the sound, herb, and meaning. Barnaby is a new love and seems to flow well.
Thistle Dorian - is Thistle too feminine?
Sol Aurelius - basically means glowing, golden sun. Love it.
Peregrine Ambrose - too fusty?
Huckleberry Iver - I love love love Huckleberry. Is it wearable iyo?
Carnelian Ptolemy - the only gemstone and it is on a boy. Thoughts?
Hawthorn Otis - See Elm
Arum Theodore - too close to Aaron?

Sweetbriar is amazing! I don’t think I would love it with [name]Bedelia[/name] - but it could flow with some of your other monos: [name]Plum[/name], [name]Moss[/name], [name]Elm[/name]?
[name]Verbena[/name] is so lovely too. I think you can do better than [name]Boheme[/name] with it - what do you think about pairing it with [name]Imogen[/name] or [name]Harper[/name]?

Your boys’ list is fantastic. I am liking [name]Yarrow[/name], its so calm and natural, and Carnelian is visually masculine and strong. My favorite combo of all has to be [name]Hawthorn[/name] [name]Otis[/name]. Totally swoonworthy name. I have tried to get my man on board with [name]Hawthorn[/name] and he won’t go for it, but I do love to see it appreciated!

I love so many of your names! I’ll give you my other thoughts/opinions down below!

Goldenrod [name]Leonie[/name] - I like the flow of this one, but Goldenrod feels to me it could be the victim of sexualized teasing in her teen years. I love [name]Leonie[/name] though!
[name]Mazarine[/name] [name]Io[/name] - I love [name]Mazarine[/name]! I just feel [name]Io[/name] is so short next to it that it gets lost in the overall picture!
[name]Verbena[/name] [name]Boheme[/name] - As much as I love V names ([name]Valencia[/name], [name]Vionnet[/name], [name]Vienna[/name], [name]Virginia[/name], etc etc!), I just can’t take [name]Verbena[/name] seriously! Honestly, all I can picture is little [name]Laura[/name] Ingalls talking about [name]Lemon[/name] [name]Verbena[/name] when she is trying to set up her teacher! But that’s just me! [name]Love[/name] [name]Boheme[/name]!
[name]Elm[/name] [name]Imogen[/name] - I love the flow of it reversed more than how you have it, [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Elm[/name] sounds prettier to me. I love the idea of [name]Elm[/name], but have never warmed to [name]Imogen[/name].
[name]Freesia[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] - This is truly very pretty!
[name]Fig[/name] [name]Bedelia[/name] - I actually know a girl named [name]Fig[/name]! I don’t like something about the flow here though! Sweetbriar [name]Bedelia[/name] has too many B sounds for me or something. Would [name]Briar[/name] [name]Fig[/name] be absolutely silly?
[name]Chrysanthemum[/name] [name]Harper[/name] - I think it’s more about the length in the sense that it’s very long to spell and combines many sounds, however I think it is very pretty! I do prefer Chrysanthe though! [name]Harper[/name] shocks me that it’s on your list to be honest, it feels very trendy/etc while many of your choices are very fresh and unusual!
[name]Plum[/name] [name]Araminta[/name] - I would [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Araminta[/name] [name]Plum[/name]! [name]Plum[/name] feels too short for my tastes for a first name.

BOYS
[name]Yarrow[/name] [name]Barnaby[/name] - I have never appreciated [name]Barnaby[/name] too much, [name]Yarrow[/name] is definitely a new one for me, I like the idea of it!
Thistle [name]Dorian[/name] - I would defnitely assume Thistle was a girl if I only saw a first name. I do like this combo though, what about [name]Thane[/name] [name]Dorian[/name] or [name]Thyme[/name]? (Maybe [name]Thyme[/name] is too feminine too though?)
[name]Sol[/name] [name]Aurelius[/name] - The imagery I get of this name is beautiful!
[name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Ambrose[/name] - I love [name]Peregrine[/name]! But despise [name]Ambrose[/name] because of association. [name]Peregrine[/name] is easily my favorite name from your list!
[name]Huckleberry[/name] [name]Iver[/name] - I would love to say [name]Huckleberry[/name] is usable, but I can’t. There is actually a lot of awkward teasing I can think about involving slang where I live (and possibly elsewhere!)
Carnelian [name]Ptolemy[/name] - I have problems with a name with basically the word Carnal in it. Because I could see it being very prominent, inappropriate nickname! [name]Love[/name] [name]Ptolemy[/name] though!
[name]Hawthorn[/name] [name]Otis[/name] - I think I would spell it [name]Hawthorne[/name], the e looks more complete, but again, just me! Never been a fan of [name]Otis[/name].
Arum [name]Theodore[/name] - Too close to [name]Aaron[/name] in the sense I can foresee, “[name]Aaron[/name]?” “No, Arum!”. Met a little [name]Theodore[/name] “[name]Theo[/name]” the other day, such a cutie, fell in love with his name!

My #2, due in [name]November[/name], will be [name]Huckleberry[/name] [name]Jude[/name]. I say it’s wearable:)
Your names are all pretty rad, btw:) I love the nature theme.

[name]Harper[/name] is there for lack of better idea on a mn for [name]Chrysanthemum[/name]. I’m open to suggestions.

I agree with tawnysaurus, your names are rad. I wish I had half your guts with naming! (Also your GP, Larkspur, is one of my GP faves! [name]Just[/name] saying, you have excellent taste  )

GIRLS
Goldenrod [name]Leonie[/name] - I would shy away from anything with ‘rod’ in it for a girl, I think middle/high school would be merciless teasing. [name]Leonie[/name] Goldenrod, or [name]Marigold[/name] [name]Leonie[/name] would be great, though!
[name]Mazarine[/name] [name]Io[/name] - Absolutely 100% love. [name]Don[/name]'t change a thing.
[name]Verbena[/name] [name]Boheme[/name] - At first I thought yes, too ‘B’ heavy, but the more I say it the more I like it. The flow of the syllables makes me think “la vie boheme”.
[name]Elm[/name] [name]Imogen[/name] - I don’t mind either name, but it runs together for me. Elmimogen. [name]Imogen[/name] Rosemint (borrowing from your sig) I love!
[name]Freesia[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] - It’s a little too much ‘E’ for me. Switching the middles on this and the above, I think [name]Elm[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] and [name]Freesia[/name] [name]Imogen[/name] would be lovely.
[name]Fig[/name] [name]Bedelia[/name] - [name]Fig[/name] I am not a huge fan of… Sweetbriar [name]Bedelia[/name] is gorgeous, and she could always shorten to [name]Briar[/name] if she wanted to be “professional”.
[name]Chrysanthemum[/name] [name]Harper[/name] - I think the “too long” argument isn’t number of syllables but number of letters. [name]Isabella[/name] has 8 letters (and many are doubled), [name]Chrysanthemum[/name] has 13. But it’s not a bad name, and she would have a children’s book of her very own
[name]Plum[/name] [name]Araminta[/name] - [name]Love[/name]. [name]Love[/name], love, love! My #1 out of your list, followed very closely by [name]Mazarine[/name] [name]Io[/name].

BOYS
[name]Yarrow[/name] [name]Barnaby[/name] - Fantastic. [name]Yarrow[/name] I think is unique but on-trend and [name]Barnaby[/name] is a personal fave. Plus I love how it starts and ends in Y.
Thistle [name]Dorian[/name] - I think Thistle is a bit fem, yes, especially with [name]Dorian[/name] (which I know is a boys’ name, but has always slanted feminine to me. Not a bad thing).
[name]Sol[/name] [name]Aurelius[/name] - I really like this. Especially the meaning, and [name]Sol[/name] is an amazingly cool name for a little boy.
[name]Peregrine[/name] [name]Ambrose[/name] - It’s a bit fusty, but in an upper-crust English gentleman kind of way, which I think is refreshing and nice.
[name]Huckleberry[/name] [name]Iver[/name] - A bunch of celebrities have used it so obviously they thought it worked. I think it’s usable, I just worry about nickname [name]Huck[/name] and all the things it rhymes with.
Carnelian [name]Ptolemy[/name] - Not a big fan. I like [name]Ptolemy[/name], Carnelian not so much. I think chameleon and Carnies (the creepy kind).
[name]Hawthorn[/name] [name]Otis[/name] - Looooove [name]Hawthorn[/name]. And [name]Otis[/name]. Fantastic. ([name]Yarrow[/name] [name]Barnaby[/name] and [name]Hawthorn[/name] [name]Otis[/name] would make STUNNING brothers, just saying).
Arum [name]Theodore[/name] - This one is fine, just seems a bit… common, for you. Maybe [name]Ptolemy[/name] Arum and Carnelian [name]Theodore[/name]?
