I like a lot of names but I don’t have many that I love. My partner and I have been talking recently about naming future children and so on that subject, what would you think if you met a little girl with the following names?
Bethan
Diana
Joanna
Joanne
Julia
Lydia
Tegwen
Victoria (she would be a Vicky)
My favourite is Joanna, followed up by Lydia, Diana and Julia in this order.
Vicky, Joanne and Bethan sound quite dated to me. Tegwen is alright but one of my least favourite -wen names. I prefer others like Arwen, Eowyn, Merewen, etc.
[name_f]Bethan[/name_f] - warm, sweet and unexpected! I’d be delighted to meet a [name_f]Bethan[/name_f]
[name_f]Diana[/name_f] - elegant and strong!
[name_f]Joanna[/name_f] - rugged and bold
[name_f]Joanne[/name_f] -I prefer [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f] - bright and sweet
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] -lovely and bright
[name_f]Tegwen[/name_f] - love it -rugged and cute. I’d love to meet one
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] - strong and elegant

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are [name_f]Bethan[/name_f] and [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
Nice list! My favorites are Lydia, Julia, Diana, and Joanna.
Bethan - never met one before, so it would be cool to meet one
Diana - very strong name, but also somewhat uncommon nowadays
Joanna - spunky and strong, and could suit a girl with any personality
Joanne - feels a bit dated compared to Joanna, but it could still work!
Lydia - is my sisters name, but it’s a strong classic that can work on any personality really
Tegwen- very cool, I’ve never met one before
Victoria - solid classic name, but Vicky does date it a little bit. Not that it’s a bad thing, but most Vickys are middle aged women
Edit: forgot Julia somehow!
Julia - timeless classic, but be ready to hear Jules as a nickname
[name_f]Bethan[/name_f] is so sweet.
[name_f]Diana[/name_f] is a beautiful and strong name for a little girl. I know a 4 year old [name_f]Diana[/name_f] and it took me to get used to such a grand name on a little girl but now that I have I love it. She’s called [name_f]Anna[/name_f] by her family.
[name_f]Joanna[/name_f] - another sweet name.
[name_f]Joanne[/name_f] - feels a bit plain (but my favourite name is [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] and it isn’t too dissimilar so
)
[name_f]Julia[/name_f] - not my style.
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] - I love this name. I’d love to meet a little [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]. Lyddie would be a great way to shorten it.
[name_f]Tegwen[/name_f] - a lovely unusual choice with a beautiful meaning. Nn Teggy? [name_f]Wendy[/name_f]?
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] - grand and beautiful. If she has her own business when she is older, everything sounds great with this name: Victoria’s Accountancy, Hair by [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], Victoria’s Sound Systems

my favorites are [name_f]Julia[/name_f], [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], [name_f]Joanna[/name_f], then [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]. however with [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] i am not in love with the nn [name_f]Vicky[/name_f], i perfer [name_f]Tori[/name_f]!
[name_f]Bethan[/name_f] isn’t bad but the unavoidable nickname [name_f]Beth[/name_f] sounds too dated for a little girl. i just like [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] better than [name_f]Joanne[/name_f] because [name_u]Jo[/name_u] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f] are so sweet. [name_f]Diana[/name_f] is very sweet! it just liked the others better. [name_f]Tegwen[/name_f] is decent, i fancy [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] over [name_f]Tegwen[/name_f] because of the jumble of sounds in [name_f]Tegwen[/name_f]! cute list overall
Bethan: Bethan is cute, and I love the nn Beth!
Diana: This name is wonderful and definitely deserves more use
Joanna: Sweet and spunky, with lots of great nicknames!
Joanne: Feels a bit dated, I much prefer Joanna
Julia: Julia is sweet and bubbly, and I can see it on any age
Lydia: Lydia is beautiful and melodic
Tegwen: Really not a fan of this one. I can’t really picture it on an actual person of any age. Feels more like a character to me.
Victoria: Love this name, but Vicky feels dated.
[name_f]Bethan[/name_f] - Surprising! I would expect something like [name_f]Bethany[/name_f].
[name_f]Diana[/name_f] - I think it’s timeless and I love it.
Joanna/Joanne - I hear it more on grandmas than on little girls, but it’s still usable.
[name_f]Julia[/name_f] - Also timeless. Also love.
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] - Maybe my favorite? Basically perfection.
[name_f]Tegwen[/name_f] - I’ve never heard this name before. It has a spunky, fantasy kind of vibe to me.
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] - You don’t meet many little girls named [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], but I like it!
[name_f]My[/name_f] first thoughts, some are basic, some complicated:
[name_f]Bethan[/name_f] - Feels like a incomplete version of [name_f]Bethany[/name_f] to me, but a adorable little girl could easily make me like it.
[name_f]Diana[/name_f] - My… second cousin once removed (?) had a girlfriend named [name_f]Diana[/name_f] who I loved when I was younger and she had a pretty serious but kind feel, so that is just what I associate the name with. I would be pretty surprised.
[name_f]Joanna[/name_f] - Cute. Would definitely make me smile.
[name_f]Joanne[/name_f] - I like [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] better, personally.
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] - I would be thrilled!
[name_f]Tegwen[/name_f] - I would probably be a bit confused, it sounds a lot like [name_u]Teagan[/name_u]. Like I said earlier though, adorable little kids make me love names very easily.
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] - I like [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] a lot, [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] not so much.
[name_f]Bethan[/name_f] – I would think that’s unique, but in a pretty and interesting way.
[name_f]Diana[/name_f] – Thank you! Why aren’t more little girls being named this? [name_u]Love[/name_u] it.
[name_f]Joanna[/name_f] – How sweet! But Joanne…pretty dated, honestly.
[name_f]Julia[/name_f] – I think it’s a charming classic, and I’d love seeing it on a little girl today.
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] – Same thoughts as [name_f]Julia[/name_f].
[name_f]Tegwen[/name_f] – I’d think it’s unique, and I’d be sure to ask the parents for the story behind it!
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] “Vicky” – Kind of dated, but also pretty timeless. I would find [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] unexpected, but charming on a little girl today, I think, and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] will always be elegant.
[name_f]Bethan[/name_f] – Hmm, I’m not used to this name, so I’m not sure if my reaction is fair, but I’m not a huge fan.
[name_f]Diana[/name_f] – Beautifully divine, truly fitting for a warrior.
[name_f]Joanna[/name_f] – Homespun and warm sounding, but frankly, it’s a little frumpy to me… still, I can see the appeal
[name_f]Joanne[/name_f] – Same as [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f] – This is on my shortlist and I think it’s a gorgeous classic that’s never been trendy. It’s the name of the ancient empress [name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_f]Domna[/name_f] and it’s also delightfully melodic and sweet! Plus, [name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_m]Roberts[/name_m] is a fabulous modern namesake.
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] – I do like it, but [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_m]Bennet[/name_m] and the fact that it rhymes with chlamydia are dissuaders.
[name_f]Tegwen[/name_f] – Ooh, cool! I love it’s meaning of “fair, lovely, shining;” another Welsh name I love is [name_f]Gwenyth[/name_f] and [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] (she would be a Vicky) – [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] is strikingly regal, but I really dislike the nn [name_f]Vicky[/name_f]. I’d prefer [name_u]Rory[/name_u] or [name_u]Tory[/name_u] as a nn personally.
I wouldn’t think much about it for most of this names. If I met a little girl called [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] or [name_f]Joanne[/name_f] I would think it was funny that it’s similar to my own name.
I love [name_f]Diana[/name_f]. It is my mom’s name, but she spells it [name_f]Dianna[/name_f]. Something about the double n makes it prettier to me.
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.
Here are my thoughts on the list-
Bethan-This is not my favorite. It just has a bland sound to my ears. Not sure why. It’s unique, at least.
Diana-While this is not my personal favorite either, I would still be pleased meeting a little girl called [name_f]Diana[/name_f]. It’s classic & interesting & substantial. It’s well known but unexpected these days.
Joanna-Same as above!
Joanne-This is interesting too, & certainly unique on a little tyke in 2021. I don’t think that it has as pleasant as a sound as [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] though. Feels even more dated.
Julia-Simple, pretty, kind, solid…perfectly nice.
Lydia-Same as above. I like it slightly more though, because it feels less over done.
Tegwen-Hm. I don’t think that this sounds super pretty. Although I love the nn [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]!
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] (she would be a Vicky)-I don’t dislike it. I feel like [name_f]Vicky[/name_f] is a tad dated, but kind of fun too, since you don’t hear it a lot these days. It sounds sweeter than [name_f]Tori[/name_f] in my opinion. I like the nn [name_f]Vivie[/name_f] best.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
[name_f]Diana[/name_f], [name_f]Julia[/name_f], and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] have been a few of my favorite names for as long as I can remember!
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite of your list is [name_f]Bethan[/name_f], probably with [name_f]Julia[/name_f] a close second, although I’d worry about people shortening to [name_u]Julie[/name_u].
[name_f]Bethan[/name_f] - a simple name but with a tiny unexpected twist
[name_f]Diana[/name_f] - I would assume she was named after [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Di[/name_f]
[name_f]Joanna[/name_f] - no real thoughts
[name_f]Joanne[/name_f] - same as above, I guess they feel a little dated so I’d be surprised to meet a little girl with these name
[name_f]Julia[/name_f] - feels very grown up
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] - I really like this name, reminds me of [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] novels
[name_f]Tegwen[/name_f] - very unusual and not my favourite of the -wen names to be honest
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] - very traditional but classic
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are [name_f]Bethan[/name_f] and Joanna!! [name_u]Love[/name_u] love love [name_f]Bethan[/name_f], and think “Beth” could be a cute nn, [name_f]Joanna[/name_f] is very classy and lovely name. [name_f]Diana[/name_f] is again, very elegant and classy but a little dated; same with [name_f]Joanne[/name_f] and [name_f]Julia[/name_f]. Not a big fan of [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] or [name_f]Tegwen[/name_f], just not my style. And [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] is a nice name but not too keen on [name_f]Vicky[/name_f], personally, prefer [name_f]Tori[/name_f].
[name_f]Bethan[/name_f]- first I would think “where’s the Y?” but I think it’s cute.
[name_f]Diana[/name_f]- my mother’s name or [name_u]Anne[/name_u] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables! So pretty.
[name_f]Joanna[/name_f]- I think it’s lovely and underused
[name_f]Joanne[/name_f]- sounds dated to me
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]- beautiful on a little girl or woman
[name_f]Tegwen[/name_f]- Strange but cute
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]- I don’t love either the long or short version
