Pregnant!
I guess a girl, since we’re usually the ones who get pregnant.
Also Prego pasta sauce. Is this an actual name? I’ve never heard of it before. I think I’ll go look it up.
I do like the sound of the name, but I agree with the pp, the first thing that popped into my head was ‘Pregnant’!
So I just went and looked up “Pregan name,” and got no results. Also it asked me if I meant “pregnant name.” It seems like a nickname for someone named [name]Megan[/name] who is pregnant. But who knows, maybe others’ perceptions will be totally different.
Honestly, my first reaction would be…“is that a name?” It’s trying a bit too hard, IMHO.
It’s not really a name, I’m a writer and I thought it sounded like a cool name but for a boy…I just like the sound and even though it had the connection to pregnant or prego sauce…lol…I still thought it was unique.
Not saying it’d ever be a name used on anyone, but I’ve heard much worse made up names than this I think.
I just wanted to see what the reaction would be to a name I used for a character.
Yeah, it might be OK for a character…
I instantly thought it looked like “pregnant.” Honestly I don’t care for it.
On first glance, I read it pn “Pree-ggin” and then “Pregg-en” so pn is a problem. I couldn’t guess gender from this name either. “Prey-jin” sounds nicer that’s for sure! “Prey-jin” makes me think of Trajan ("[name]Tray[/name]-[name]Jen[/name]"), [name]Roman[/name] emperor known for his military accomplishments and civil engineering (roads, bridges, waterways). So, by that association I’d possibly hear “Prey-jin” and think Boy.
If you write alot, may I suggest you purchase the wonderful book called “The Writer’s Digest - Character Naming Sourcebook” by [name]Sherrilyn[/name] [name]Kenyon[/name]. It has lists of first names and surnames from numerous cultures so you have loads of information at your fingertips. Another interesting feature are the sidebars where writers give advice regarding the naming of characters. Very enlightening! [name]Happy[/name] Writing!
When I saw it, I actually thought “[name]Pagan[/name]” and I would probably guess it was a boy. I also made a connection to the name “[name]Teagan[/name]” in my mind.
No. I dont like it at all. It sounds terrible (sorry).
All, it’s really ok just a made up name. As I mentioned I pronounce it like (prayg- in). The character was a boy with jet black hair, porcelain skin, deep blue eyes, and thin frame. He was made to “stand” out. His name was a source of that so yea. All opinions are great I just wanted to see what people thought.
Other names I happen to use are: [name]Dezi[/name], [name]Dari[/name], [name]Ember[/name], [name]Aria[/name], and Banes to name a few.
