I just thought it would be fun to see what “hippie” names people like, but would probably never use. So, as the title says, what would you name your kids?
My perfect family would be
3 GIRLS:
[name]Lyric[/name] [name]Winona[/name] [name]Thisbe[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name] [name]Gaia[/name] Solstice
[name]Sonnet[/name] [name]Amalia[/name] Wildflower
And 1 BOY:
[name]Milo[/name] [name]Cedar[/name] [name]Wesley[/name]
I think that I would name my three girls [name]Poet[/name] [name]Breeze[/name], Kizmet [name]Skye[/name] and [name]Summer[/name] [name]Rose[/name]. My two boys would be [name]Cloud[/name] [name]Blue[/name] and [name]Karma[/name] [name]Freedom[/name].
Hmmm. I’m really bad at thinking of mn combos, so I’ll just throw the individual names out there. They are from my “Names I [name]Love[/name] But Am Too Chicken To Seriously Consider” List, not necessarily what I plan on naming kids, since there are a lot of them, but some that I would totally use if I was a hippie:
[name]Meadow[/name], probably - I would probably use it anyway given half a chance. I also quite like [name]Willow[/name], [name]Rowan[/name], [name]Magnolia[/name], [name]Indigo[/name]…
I’m rather fond of the names [name]Sparrow[/name] and [name]Wren[/name], though I don’t think I’d ever be comfortable using them. The most hippie name I’ve met in real life was a girl named [name]Strawberry[/name]. She was a lovely person - warm and kind-hearted - but absolutely detested her name. Despite that, I’ve since had a liking for the name [name]Strawberry[/name] just because she made such a positive impression on me.
[name]Marigold[/name] [name]Althea[/name] ([name]Althea[/name] is a Grateful Dead song)
[name]Nova[/name] [name]Jean[/name]
[name]Lilac[/name] [name]Susanne[/name]
[name]Neal[/name] [name]Wolf[/name] (as in [name]Neal[/name] [name]Cassady[/name])
I think I’d name a girl [name]Love[/name] Raindrop and a boy [name]Sky[/name]. I’m not sure about middle name for [name]Sky[/name]. I’d name a second girl [name]Tulip[/name].
Funny little story: I know a true “hippie baby.” He was born in San [name]Francisco[/name] during the [name]Summer[/name] of [name]Love[/name] in the squat his hippie parents were sharing with a dozen other hippies. His name? [name]Michael[/name].
I can’t think of any combos right now beyond [name]Everest[/name] [name]Orion[/name] and [name]Zinnia[/name] [name]Rain[/name]. I know sibsets named [name]Coral[/name] (g) and [name]Zen[/name] (b), and [name]Echo[/name] (g) and [name]Ocean[/name] (b), and Calamity, [name]Yarrow[/name], [name]Emma[/name]-Nation and [name]Lincoln[/name] (all girls).
I think Aylee Flowerblossom would be such a cool hippie name. Not really sure about a boy though…perhaps something like [name]Freedom[/name] [name]Judge[/name]. I also quite like [name]Prairie[/name] [name]Promise[/name] or [name]Prairie[/name] [name]Peace[/name] for a little girl.
[name]Wren[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Iris[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] (even though those are more vintage than hippie, I’d say)
[name]Prairie[/name] [name]Raine[/name] (the “e” at the end makes it more legit, right?)
[name]Calla[/name] [name]June[/name] (also not quite hippie, but it is a nature-y name which falls into the hippie stereotype)
[name]Rainbow[/name] [name]Bloom[/name]
[name]Butterfly[/name] [name]Lucy[/name]
Hippie names I’ve had on my mind for awhile now include [name]Poet[/name] and Summet for girls. For a boy, maybe [name]North[/name] or [name]Prairie[/name]. I have no idea what the middles would be, though…
