Ilaria, Emmeline or Valeria?

Looking for a sister to [name_f]Allegra[/name_f].

Would you pronounce [name_f]Ilaria[/name_f] the Italian way which sounds like E-LAHR-ee-uh or where it starts off with the “Il” sound like il-AHR-ee-uh?

[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] would be the [name_m]French[/name_m] way ending in “leen” sound.

Thank you!!

I would pronounce it eh-LAHR-ee-ah. It is a little close in sound to [name_f]Allegra[/name_f], although I really do like it, but because of that I think I would choose [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f].

I’d pronounce [name_f]Ilaria[/name_f] as il-AHR-ee-uh. I think it’s too close to [name_f]Allegra[/name_f], though.
I love [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]! Especially with the -een ending. A very sweet name and a great sister for [name_f]Allegra[/name_f].

You have a beautiful list, and truly can’t go wrong with any of these choices. However, my pick would be [name_f]Ilaria[/name_f]. It’s both gorgeous and unique, and I’d pronounce it the Italian way.

I’d pronounce [name_f]Ilaria[/name_f] prwtty much like E-LAHR-ee-uh*(though maybe the beginning somewhere between ee and il)
Its stunning and would be my choice for you! [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] would be my second choice

I say [name_f]Ilaria[/name_f] as Ill-LAR-ree-uh (short I like in ill). I think it’s a little close to [name_f]Allegra[/name_f], but they go so well together stylistically, I think they’re perfect for siblings. I especially love the joyous and happy meanings.

I’ve always loved the name [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] pronounced like that.

I like the Italian way better, but keep in mind that she will be forever be telling everyone how to pronounce her name esp.teachers. I like [name_f]Valaria[/name_f] best with [name_f]Allegra[/name_f]. [name_f]Valaria[/name_f] [name_f]Emmaline[/name_f] sounds beautiful.

[name_f]Valeria[/name_f] is my favorite

Il-aria, ar as in c[b]ar.

[/b]Definitely my favourite, with [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] second.

[name_f]Ilaria[/name_f] is gorgeous, and pairs beautifully with [name_f]Allegra[/name_f] – that L sound does repeat, but otherwise the sounds are quite different, so I don’t think they’re too similar to not use together. [name_f]Allegra[/name_f] & [name_f]Ilaria[/name_f] just sound so joyous and melodic together. I say ih-LAH-ree-uh.

My DH is Italian. I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] Italian names.

[name_f]Ilaria[/name_f] ee-lar-ee-ah means happiness

[name_u]Val[/name_u]-air-ee-ah means strength

I always feel like a meaning makes my final decision. As if “meant to be”

[name_f]Allegra[/name_f] means [name_f]Joy[/name_f]. So you have your joy and your happiness ([name_f]Ilaria[/name_f])

[name_f]Valentina[/name_f] is a variantioj of valeria it has the same meaning.

Your joy and your strength (valeria or [name_f]Valentina[/name_f])

As for [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] I don’t like the name. Maybe [name_f]Evelina[/name_f]

I would go with [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], but I’d expect pronunciation issues.

I don’t think the Italian version of [name_f]Ilaria[/name_f] is hard to say, but it wouldn’t be my instinct.

I do like the suggestion of [name_f]Valentina[/name_f], I love [name_f]Allegra[/name_f] and [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] together.
