I saw a parent’s first name in the whiteboard at my youngest’s school—her name is Ilea.

I can’t find anything about it here, on BehindtheName, or even on Google. There are people named [name_f]Ileana[/name_f] but not Ilea. Not sure if the pronunciation but I’d guess eye-Leah.

I Facebook-stalked her to ask her about her cool and unusual name but she hasn’t responded. Hopefully I didn’t freak her out, hahaha.

It could be a variation on Alea/Alia/Aliyah or maybe just a feminine version of Ilya/Ilia?

It’s a sweet name but at a glance I saw [name_f]Ikea[/name_f]

My instinct would be to pronounce it as ih-lee-ah. It reminds me of Elia, which I really like.

Maybe it’s a spelling variation of [name_u]Ilia[/name_u]? I would instinctively pronounce it ill-ee-a. I like it!

I’d guess it’s “IH-lee-uh” ! Though I also saw [name_f]Ikea[/name_f] at first glance, lol!

There is a medicine with that pronunciation, which puts me off of it.

It reminds me of the ileum which is some sort of body part.

I like the PN of Eye-lee (as with the name Iley) so I’m rooting for that!

It reminds me of “il y a” - [name_u]French[/name_u] for “there is…” or “there are…”. Interesting name though.

I guess it depends on what kind of medicine it is, haha
