Ily

The thread on Ailey reminded me of something [name]Laura[/name] Wattenberg wrote on her blog a while ago – she predicted that Ily would be a new hot name for its sound (an [name]Isla[/name]-[name]Miley[/name] mashup, I think she called it) and its meaning (ILY is textspeak for I love you). Any thoughts?

It’s cute, but Ily seems a little like . . . cheating in the name world. A name from textspeak? It’s a novel idea, to say the least. It also seems like it would be subject to “tryndee-attacks” Ailee, Ileigh, Iyley, and Islea, anyone?

I can see the appeal but I’d stick with a traditional spelling. It looks like [name]Lily[/name] with out the “L”, a typo rather than a name.

Yeah, I was tempted to pronounce it as “ill-ee” - no fun.

I’m not a fan either. Does anyone think it could rise?

Looks like it is missing some letters. And depending on how it is written it could look like lly. I don’t like it at all. Cute that it is text for I love you, is that the next trend after everyone is tired of spelling [name]Heaven[/name] backwards?! Would make cool initials though.

Nope, I don’t see it rising, honestly.
