I'm crazy over Philip

Backstory: DH and I have a history of naming our pets after 90s/early 2000s Nickelodeon characters. We have had a: [name_m]Doug[/name_m], [name_m]Arnold[/name_m], and now currently have a [name_m]Norbert[/name_m]. When naming our newest kitten, we considered [name_m]Nigel[/name_m] and [name_m]Philip[/name_m]. [name_m]Nigel[/name_m] was the winner in the end.

After the whole naming ordeal, [name_m]Philip[/name_m] really stuck with me. I just love it. I like the nn [name_u]Pip[/name_u], too. Also, it is not incredibly common even though it is one of those classic names. The real cherry on top was the movie [name_m]Hamilton[/name_m].

Short post: I love [name_m]Philip[/name_m], nn [name_u]Pip[/name_u] or [name_m]Hill[/name_m] or no nn. WDYT of it? Impressions? Popularity predictions? Also, surname is [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]. Does [name_m]Philip[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] sound too strange?

I love [name_m]Philip[/name_m] too! It’s handsome and gentle. [name_u]Pip[/name_u] is so adorable. I don’t think it’ll become very popular soon, but it might have a revival. [name_m]Philip[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] sounds fine.

I think [name_m]Philip[/name_m] is handsome and ready for a comeback. I love [name_u]Pip[/name_u], cute and quirky. [name_m]Philip[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] sounds great!

Philip is a classic. [name_m]Can[/name_m]’t go wrong with it. [name_f]My[/name_f] friend has one and they just call him [name_m]Philip[/name_m] though I love [name_m]Philo[/name_m].

Phillip is pretty cool!

I love the name [name_m]Philip[/name_m]! [name_u]Pip[/name_u] and [name_u]Pippin[/name_u] are my preferred nicknames. [name_m]Hill[/name_m] is one I’d never considered, I like it!

My only real issue with [name_m]Philip[/name_m] is that I’m personally really not a fan of the nickname [name_u]Phil[/name_u], but I do think it’s avoidable.

For me [name_m]Philip[/name_m] on the “can’t use” list because it is the name of a family friend. He doesn’t use a nickname, just [name_m]Philip[/name_m]. I believe he’s college-aged. Name suits him quite well.

Philip [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] is a lot of “L” for me, personally, but I think it flows okay.

I agree that it’s classic and not too common. Other than the family friend, I’m not sure I know anyone named [name_m]Philip[/name_m]!

I LOVE [name_m]Philip[/name_m]! The nn “phil” feels dated but [name_m]Philip[/name_m] itself feels timeless and distinguished. [name_u]Pip[/name_u] and [name_u]Flip[/name_u] are my favorite nns for it, but I like it best in its full form.

[name_m]Philip[/name_m] is one of my all time favorites! I will defend it til the end of time!

I love your story! Definitely think [name_m]Philip[/name_m] is a great choice for your little family. [name_f]My[/name_f] boyfriend loved [name_m]Hamilton[/name_m] as well, and I’m a huge fan of The Crown, so that’s what it makes me think of  I do think the name will receive somewhat of a boost, but not overly popular. [name_m]Philip[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] works great too, especially if you were to add a middle name.

I adore [name_m]Phillip[/name_m]! I wish I could use it, but someone I know has [name_m]Philips[/name_m] as a surname.

Phillip [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] is great!

I love [name_m]Philip[/name_m] because of [name_m]Hamilton[/name_m] as well!!! [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t like [name_u]Phil[/name_u], but love [name_u]Pip[/name_u], and I think that [name_u]Phil[/name_u] is avoidable. [name_m]Philip[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] does not work, too much of an “L” sound (Same issue I have with my [name_m]Philip[/name_m] combo).

I know a [name_m]Philip[/name_m], nn [name_u]Phil[/name_u]. I think it’s a fine name. [name_u]Pip[/name_u] seems like a good nn while he’s young, not sure as a teenager.

I think you should use it, either way. It’s a great name

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Philip[/name_m] nn [name_u]Pip[/name_u]! [name_f]Hills[/name_f] could be a cool nn also! Or, you could use a J middle name and use PJ when they out grow [name_u]Pip[/name_u]. I think [name_m]Philip[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] sounds great together!

I looove the name [name_m]Philip[/name_m]! It is very charming and elegant. Sweet and handsome! [name_u]Pip[/name_u] is an interesting nickname.
[name_m]Philip[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] flows well, in my opinion! I really like it.
