I’m pretty new here, to the forums at least. We are due with #3 in Oct and I still haven’t thought of a name that I am certain of.
We have a [name]Sasha[/name] and a [name]Milo[/name], we had 4 losses and this is most certainly a rainbow baby. We prefer first names that aren’t in the top 200 (we named our kids before [name]Sasha[/name] fierce and [name]Sasha[/name] [name]Obama[/name], hehe). We have played around with:
[name]Hazel[/name] and [name]Violet[/name], as middles and [name]Beatrix[/name]/[name]Beatrice[/name] b/c it was my grandmothers name. I still don’t have one that I’m in love with though!
Our last name is 3 syllables, hispanic sounding and starts with “Car”
ETA: I’d like to keep away from names ending in the same sound as my other kids which is why I seem so stuck on “E” endings
Please let me know if you have any names that sound like they may fit our style. I need help!
[name]Tess[/name]
[name]Tillie[/name]
[name]Jessie[/name]
[name]Ruth[/name] ([name]Ruthie[/name])
[name]Rose[/name]
[name]Marcy[/name] (a bit nicknamey though, could go w/ [name]Marceline[/name] or [name]Marcella[/name])
[name]Sasha[/name] and [name]Milo[/name] are a really nice sibset. Some of the -ie names seem too nickname to me-- so what about one ending with an S or an N? Some other possibilities:
[name]Maggie[/name] - wouldn’t be my top pick as it shares the M with [name]Milo[/name], but, it would be OK. Is [name]Margaret[/name] out for being too long? Too formal?
[name]Ellie[/name] - you’ve ruled out, but you like the sound. OK.
[name]Hattie[/name] - cute. So vintage. Is [name]Harriet[/name] out for being too long, too formal?
You like [name]Hazel[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] enough for middles. Flowers. You like [name]Beatrix[/name] or [name]Beatrice[/name] enough for the middle. S endings. Some thoughts:
(I am not sure what’s in the top 200. I’ve tried to avoid super popular but might be wrong on some things).
[name]Alice[/name] nn [name]Allie[/name]: ends in S. Vintage. [name]Allie[/name] is close to [name]Ellie[/name] but less popular. [name]Alice[/name] [name]Violet[/name] is a wonderful combo.
[name]Agnes[/name] nn [name]Aggie[/name]: Like [name]Maggie[/name], has an S ending. [name]Agnes[/name] [name]Violet[/name].
[name]Eden[/name] nn [name]Edie[/name]. [name]Edie[/name] would suit your nickname style
[name]Edith[/name] nn [name]Edie[/name]. See above. [name]Just[/name] [name]Edie[/name] would really be fine too, nickname names are frankly not my style so I never think to recommend them, but it would work.
[name]Eleni[/name] nn [name]Leni[/name] ([name]Ellie[/name]): Gets the [name]El[/name] sound but gets you a less popular nickname. [name]Eleni[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name]? [name]Eleni[/name] [name]Hazel[/name]?
[name]Eve[/name]. Means life. nn [name]Evie[/name] is a little close to your style.
[name]Harriet[/name] nn [name]Hattie[/name]: just to give you something else to work with. [name]Harriet[/name] doesn’t go great with any of your middles, maybe [name]Beatrice[/name] is OK ([name]Hattie[/name] [name]Bea[/name]!)
[name]Hazel[/name] nn [name]Hattie[/name]: just to give you something else to work with. [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name]. [name]Love[/name] the Z and X together.
[name]Helen[/name] nn [name]Nellie[/name]: like [name]Ellie[/name] just less popular. [name]Helen[/name] [name]Violet[/name].
[name]Iris[/name]: flower with an S ending. Means rainbow. [name]Iris[/name] doesn’t go great with any of your middles though.
[name]Nellie[/name]: Like [name]Ellie[/name], just less popular. [name]Nellie[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name].
[name]Millie[/name]: kind of merges [name]Ellie[/name] and [name]Maggie[/name]. [name]Millie[/name] [name]Violet[/name].
[name]Phoebe[/name]: E ending, not too popular currently. [name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Violet[/name].
[name]Zoe[/name]: means life, e ending. I know it’s popular though. [name]Zoe[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name].
esswei - [name]Tillie[/name] was on our original list and I’d forgotten about it! I don’t like [name]Ruthie[/name] much but it did make me think of [name]Ruby[/name]. I wonder how popular that is?!
davisellu - that is a great list, I believe we had [name]Elsie[/name] on our list too, its time to revisit that one and I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Esme[/name], I hadn’t thought of that type of sound at all
jesba - you hit the nail on the head mentioning the M connection between [name]Maggie[/name] and [name]Milo[/name], I originally said no to it just for that reason but it was one of the only ones my hubby and I could agree on. I do like [name]Edie[/name] and [name]Evie[/name] and [name]Millie[/name] (but that takes us back to M’s)
DH won’t go for [name]Phoebe[/name], I think it fits though!
Thanks so much for your help, I have some new choices. Keep em coming!
Yeah, I’m realizing now of course that [name]Millie[/name] and [name]Milo[/name] are even much closer than [name]Milo[/name] and [name]Maggie[/name]! My mistake! I think I was thinking [name]Tillie[/name] and typed [name]Millie[/name] : D!
[name]Glad[/name] you like [name]Phoebe[/name]! Shame it’s a no.
I think [name]Milo[/name] and [name]Maggie[/name] really would be fine by the way. Avoiding a shared first initial I think is good if a name is not a top contender anyway, but then if your very, very, very top candidate is that name, well, there you have it. : D.
the bee at the end of [name]Phoebe[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name] is making me think of [name]Libby[/name]…[name]Elizabeth[/name] is probably too popular though? Hmm. Certainly [name]Abigail[/name] for [name]Abby[/name].
[name]Agnes[/name], nickname [name]Aggie[/name] is a really good alternative to [name]Maggie[/name]. [name]Maggie[/name] goes really well with [name]Sasha[/name] and [name]Milo[/name], but because you don’t like the M, I suggest [name]Agnes[/name]!
[name]Ruthie[/name] is really cute. [name]Ruth[/name] by itself isn’t as fun and doesn’t really go well with the other two names, in my opinion, but [name]Ruthie[/name] does. [name]Ruby[/name] goes well too!
[name]Avis[/name] is really cute with [name]Sasha[/name] and [name]Milo[/name].
I also like [name]Olive[/name], nickname [name]Ollie[/name] with them! Super cute.
[name]Poppy[/name] is adorable!
[name]Zoe[/name]/y would be cute too.
And if you like [name]Millie[/name], but don’t want another M, how about [name]Tillie[/name]?
[name]Do[/name] you like [name]Julie[/name]? Or [name]Jubilee[/name]? They’re both equally youthful, just one is more tame!
[name]Nessa[/name] or [name]Nell[/name]/ie?
[name]Dot[/name]/tie? [name]Kay[/name]?
I quite like how [name]Beatrix[/name] sounds and looks as a middle, esp with [name]Tillie[/name] and [name]Nellie[/name], one fun name and one more serious and refined. Thanks for typing that out so I could see!
I love [name]Ruby[/name]! I wanted to use it, it is so bright and romantic and playful. My DH nixed that one sadly. I don’t think it is too popular. I think a lot of people would love the name but not many people are brave enough to go for it.
I also love the suggestion of [name]Eleni[/name] to get to [name]Leni[/name], [name]Ellie[/name], or [name]Elle[/name].
A couple other suggestions I liked were [name]Ivy[/name] (Is [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Violet[/name] too V-heavy?) & [name]Brynn[/name].
I love your middle name choices! [name]Don[/name]'t you dare give up pretty gems like [name]Hazel[/name] & [name]Violet[/name] for dusty filler names like [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Grace[/name].
