They aren’t my favorites. I think they would be difficult names for a real person to wear, at any stage in life. I have seen a baby [name_f]Hildegarde[/name_f] on instagram so that’s probably the most wearable imo.
Hildegard & [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f] are the ones I would choose since they both offer good nicknames. [name_f]Hildy[/name_f]/Hilda is super cute, and [name_f]Trudy[/name_f] for [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f]. I didn’t know about the endings meaning strength & protection! I do think a lot of the -gard -trude names would be hard to wear in most of the US right now (not sure where you are of course)
My favorites are [name_f]Friedegard[/name_f], [name_f]Hildegard[/name_f], [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Hilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Gerda[/name_f].
I’m [name_m]German[/name_m]-American, among other things, and delight in these names, which is a lot different than wanting to be named them, but still, the love is there.
And think how fun it would be to tell people, “I’m going out to lunch with Erminsinde now.”
I love [name_f]Edelgard[/name_f]! [name_f]Hildegard[/name_f] is also lovely and Wendelgard is interesting.
From the trude names I think Edeltrude is stunning and [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f] is clunky-cute
Hildegard! I think its clunky and cutesy and the nn [name_f]Hilda[/name_f] makes it more wearable for little ones. I’ve never heard of Wendelgard before but its catching my eye with nn [name_f]Wendy[/name_f].
